Well, like most of you, I'm on a mission to lose weight for good! I have been overweight most of my life.  It started at a really young age...I would say by about 10 y.o, I was really heavy. I remember stepping on a scale and seeing 140 lbs! I wasn't even in junior high yet!!! I somehow managed to get through junior high and high school alive, but I was still dealing with a lot of emotions during those years.  College came around and I lost a few pounds here and there but not enough.  Fast forward to graduation, marriage and two kids later and I am still obese.I am tired of carrying this extra weight around.  I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes when I was 20.  The doctor that told that I had it for the first time was kind and even told me that if I lost the extra weight, I could control my diabetes without having to take meds. (I was put on Glucophage @ the time).  I don't think I really took it to heart, b/c I was still eating the way I wanted to.So now here I am with type 2 diabetes for over 10 yrs. now and add to that high blood pressure and high cholesterol and I am also taking meds. for those conditions as well.  Currently, I am taking a 12-week class called 'Options' through Kaiser.  It is mandatory to take these classes prior to even being considered for any bariatric surgery.  As of March 9, 2010, we just finished week #7...we'll see how this all works out...I'll update you all later =)
