Does anyone know if oxford cover VSG?

Hey guys! So I had my consult appt yesterday and I'm so confused. At first I decided to get the lap band procedure. I was worried about the long term effects of it. I spoke to the surgeon yesterday and he said that I should get the VSG because I'm young. I'm only 23 with a bmi of exactly 40. He said if I was to get the lap band I would have to live with a foreign object in my body for the rest of my life. I want to get the VSG but I'm afraid. Its a fairly new procedure and I'm worried about the long term effects it will have. I don't even know if my insurance will cover it, I have oxford. I'm so lost guys. I've been on this website for days now.

Hey- I really think you should listen to yourself. I know extacly how you feel and thats the reason why I will not tell my family about the surgery. If your husband supports you and you feel like you want to do this then do it girl.

I will drink a lot of water before my appt..lol..I've been thinking about this all week, I hope I qualify. I've been weighting my self at home and one mintue the scale says 246 then the next day it will say 249. This is stressing me out

Congrats!! I called oxford and they said I have to have a bmi of 40 or above. My consultation appt is on Friday so I'm praying that I qualify!!

Hi..i'm 5"6" 1/2 and I weight around 248-249. Will I qualify for lapband? Besides being overweight, i'm in good health. I have a visit with the surgeon next week but I dont' want to waste my time if i don't qualify. What do you think?
