  1. I had my surgery a week ago and I got these feelings before from using the milk. Post op I am mixing my protein drinks with water and not having the problem.
  2. I'm one week out from surgery (4/6/10) and have lost 16 lbs on a liquid diet. 60 grams of protein meal replacement mixed with water, 1 can of soup (split pea or tomato as I couldn't handle all the salt in the broths), 64 oz. water, and ocassionally sugar free jello, or sugar free popsicles. I did have a hernia repair and seem to feel somewhat restricted and have not been able to get all my required water down as I feel stuffed most of the day. I have to stay on this for 4 weeks.
  3. I was banded on 4/6/10 and had started my vitamins but my doctor advised me to stop them and wait until the 16th to start them up.
  4. I must be the only one out there who does not do a liquid diet pre-op. About 3 weeks ago I was told to eat lean Proteins and low fat and to replace one meal a day with a Protein shake I got from the doctor. They said a low fat diet may decrease the size of my liver but there will be strictly 4 weeks of liquids post op with no exceptions. Surgery scheduled 4/6/2010
  5. I will check those two ladies out on you tube. Who is doing your band? I'm trying to figure out other things to drink in my liquid diet other than the Protein drink. It looks like most soup bases and bouillon is loaded with sodium. They said they would give me the info the day before surgery during pre-op.
  6. What time is your meeting on April 3. I only have afternoon available until 3:30.
  7. Did you have the reflux before the band and if so were you or are you on meds for it. I take Nexium and I have it now and my doctor told me that a bypass would correct it but thats not what I wanted.
  8. What classes are you taking for banding. I've been to initial seminars but not any classes. I didn't know there were any available.
  9. correction. You are pretty close to Temecula.
  10. Yes, you are pretty quick. I've tried numerous diets and gone to the gym and walked a lot for years and I was only getting bigger every year. I am also starting to have health issues (high bp, acid reflux) and I'd never considered any weight loss surgeries until I saw a co-worker last year who had lost 60 lbs in a year and she mentioned the lap band, which I had never heard of and became intensely interested and researched and liked the fact that it was minimally invasive. I was very excited and waited over 4 months after seeing quite a few doctors at UCSD for an approval then BC turned them down, and referred me to Scripps, who got approval in a week. I'm just ready to get it over with and get on with it. I hear so many different requirements from the various doctors. I was preparing myself for the 2 week before liquids and 2-3 weeks after Clear Liquids but now this doctor says 1 Meal Replacement with a Protein drink and no liquid diet until after surgery for 4 weeks and nothing thicker than split pea Soup. I have been referred to the realize band website for my support. My doctor only uses the realize band. When is your procedure?
  11. I would also like to meet up with fellow bandsters.
  12. I will be banded on 4/6. How was your experience and how has the band been for you?
  13. Thanks for the site. How did you get through the liquid diet. Mine doesn't start until after surgery but I'm doing a meal replacement protein drink and want to start getting used to it now. He said nothing thicker than split pea soup. I believe yours started 2 weeks before surgery, right?
  14. The nurse in my doctors office says its the low fat diet that shrinks the liver.
