  1. I am little concerned tonight as I have PB'd 3 times today and have not been able to keep any food down, liquids fine. I haven't had quite that many in one day. I think it my band area may be swollen and will just take a day or so to recover. I was banded 8 months ago - Of course my worst fear is slippage! Any thoughts would be appreciated - thanks so much, Kim
  2. I paid $13,500 out of pocket - my insurance refused to cover due to written exclusion with my employer. I chose not to get a loan or charge any of it - scheduled the surgery when I had worked to save the total amount.
  3. I have 6.1cc in my 4cc band. I was very concerned with that fill amount at first but my doctor says amounts are really individualized per our anatomy. I have was banded on 10/31 and have only had 2 fills total. I am PBing probably 2-3 times/week, but not chewing well enough or slowly enough. I get in this cycle where I get really hungry and eat too fast. I need to try smaller more frequent meals. I am pretty happy with my restrictions. I have lost 47 pounds without really trying or exercising (although I have good intentions!).
  4. Dr. Kaniewiski in Lenexa, KS - is wonderful!!! The hospital/office is just off of West College Blvd. Please let me know if I can answer any questions. Here is a link www.iabsobesitysurgery.com
  5. I just got my 2nd fill for a total of 6cc in my 4cc band. It has been less that 24 hours and I definitely feel more restriction - hopefully will do well this time. Has anyone else had the experience of this amount or more in 4cc band? My surgeon assured me that he has a few patients with more and it is very individualized on how much fill is tolerated.

  8. mariecarmen- I do this too - sip my drink while in public to avoid getting stuck! It is nice to know someone else shares the same experience with that. At home I am usually do not drink- it is most difficult with morning coffee - I love to have that with breakfast and need to get better about just drinking it before.
  9. Hi! Congratulations on your decision to have lbs! What a Christmas present to yourself and your family. I went back to work 3 days after surgery 1/2 day - I think you will be fine. Try to get all of your gifts wrapped and all those last minute details done ahead of time so you are not worried about it. Hopefully you can have some Egg Nog, Egg nog protien shakes, hot ciders/ decaf tea/ hot chocolate and broth soups - plan ahead for this so you don't feel deprived with all of that food around. You'll do great!!

  11. p.s my surgeon did recommend not getting pregnant during the rapid weight loss period
  12. I asked this question of my surgeon in the first seminar I attended. You can choose to be unfilled during pregnancy if that is your desire, however, a pregnant women only needs 300 extra calories per day (which could be one can on Ensure, ect). Otherwise, the lapband will not affect pregnancy whatsoever. I chose lapband surgery because I want to get pregnant within the next year at a much healthier weight, and hopefully prevent an unhealty pregnancy. My preop BMI was 49. Good luck with your decision!
  13. Hi Fitzgerald: This Soup may help with the mexican food craving - it did for me. Taco Soup: 1 onion diced 2 tbsp Olive Oil 2lbs ground beef 2 envelopes of Fajita Seasoning 1 can Rotel 1 can Cream of Celery or Cream of chicken Soup 1 can Beans (black, pinto, or refried) 1 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese 8 oz Light Cream Cheese 1 cup Water 1 cup skim milk 2-3 drops of tabasco sauce Crushed tortilla chips any kind (1/2 cup) Salt and Pepper to taste Dash of Cinnamon Saute onion in olive oil. Brown Lean Ground Beef. Add fajita seasoning and rest of ingredients till comes to a boil, then simmer. Enjoy. Lap Banders portion on lliquid phase will need to run through the blender! I served my husbands soup with crushed tortilla chips and a little sour cream on top. __________________ Stats: Banded 10/31/06 Halloween 10 day liquid preop diet/ Self Pay $13,500 PreOp 292 Day of Surgery 285 Now 279 Goal 150ish kimberly150 View Public Profile Send a private message to kimberly150 Send email to kimberly150 Find all posts by kimberly150 Add kimberly150 to Your Buddy List #79 Yesterday, 02:59 PM kimberly150 vbmenu_register("postmenu_328850", true); Registered User Join Date: Oct 2006 Age: 31 Posts: 48 www.allrecipes.com My favorite website (other than lbt ofcourse:)) is http://www.allrecipes.com In the search bar just type in soup or smoothie for a plethora of recipe ideas to use and/or modify! 14. Hi, I am on the liquid stage right now until Nov. 21st (3wks post op), then will advance to soft/mushie/puree for another 3 wks.. My question is on the soft stage, does the rule begin to apply - No drinking with meals or 1hr after? Thanks for your insight! Kim
  15. Glad you are not having a lot of pain. What you are describing sounds like gas to me. It takes several days to get all of the anesthesia gases out of your system. They absorb into your muscles/tissues and can "float" around until you pass them. Have you tried the gas x strips? I took them 2 or 3 times a day post op and it helped to control things. It is a good idea to keep doing the deep breathing (Insentive Spirometer Exercises) too to work that anesthesia out of your lungs. Glad you are doing well and congrats on your surgery!
