    3 PB's Today!

I am little concerned tonight as I have PB'd 3 times today and have not been able to keep any food down, liquids fine. I haven't had quite that many in one day. I think it my band area may be swollen and will just take a day or so to recover. I was banded 8 months ago - Of course my worst fear is slippage! Any thoughts would be appreciated - thanks so much, Kim

    October 2006 Bandsters!

Hi Everyone - It is a great day to catch up on post reading! My weight loss has slowed this summer considerably (still at 245) 47 pounds down total. I am ready to get back on track, and am thinking a fill may be in order soon. I just returned from a cruise to Cabo - visted too many cantinas & ate WAY too much food. It is Time for eating healthier & starting to move more! My husband has been irritated lately that he is gaining since I am giving him my food leftovers when we go out to eat! Not good. I am encouraged by everyone's progress, committment, & support! October will be here before we know it - My goal is to lose 25 more pounds before my bandiversary! Keep up the AWESOME work everyone!! You CAN do it!

    Pay for the band! Poll!

I paid $13,500 out of pocket - my insurance refused to cover due to written exclusion with my employer. I chose not to get a loan or charge any of it - scheduled the surgery when I had worked to save the total amount.
  5. I have 6.1cc in my 4cc band. I was very concerned with that fill amount at first but my doctor says amounts are really individualized per our anatomy. I have was banded on 10/31 and have only had 2 fills total. I am PBing probably 2-3 times/week, but not chewing well enough or slowly enough. I get in this cycle where I get really hungry and eat too fast. I need to try smaller more frequent meals. I am pretty happy with my restrictions. I have lost 47 pounds without really trying or exercising (although I have good intentions!).
  6. Dr. Kaniewiski in Lenexa, KS - is wonderful!!! The hospital/office is just off of West College Blvd. Please let me know if I can answer any questions. Here is a link www.iabsobesitysurgery.com

    October 2006 Bandsters!

Hi Everyone, It has been months since I have logged in - I am just catching up on everyone's latest posts - you are doing awesome!! Great work! I am down to 245 as of today (that is a total of 47 pounds lost since banding on Halloween). I feel so much better and I notice I have alot more energy. I still struggle with learning to follow the rules - I probably PB 2-3x per week - so uncomfortable! I get in this cycle of getting really hungry, then eating too fast & not chewing well enough. Coordinating the not drinking during & after meals is a challenge too at times. I need to be a little more concious about meal times for sure. Tomorrow I begin walking one time around my block everyday! The weather is so much nicer I am substituting that for my "occasional" indoor workout. Hope you are enjoying the summer! Take care, Kim

Hi Everyone, Its been a while since I have posted but wanted to say I am SOOOOO proud of all of your weight loss! You are all doing great since only October! I am feeling great (2 fills total). I am thinking of getting a 3rd. I have not been faithful about working out, but am hoping this nice spring weather will be a great motivator. Take care and EXCELLENT work in your weight loss journeys!

Shirley PM'd me the first few days she joined Oct bandsters thread as I was truly amazed as well. She actually lost over 100 pounds prior to having lapband.

    October 2006 Bandsters!

Sonia - Congratulations on your loss 32lbs in 3 months! You reminded me that it has almost been 3 months for me too. I need to go weigh in (still no scale). Happy Birthday threebeauties! Tonight's meal: stovetop chicken and veggies - I had about 1/2 chicken breast and some veggies and am now waiting to drink my sf rasberry iced tea.... I am trying to be better today as yesterday I had too many liquid calories - dark beer and a smoothie - (not at the same time). Everyone is doing great! ONLY 17 more days left for Valentines Day Challenge!!

    October 2006 Bandsters!

Jdru - thanks for confessing the cookie dough! I have had girl scout cookies for the past 3 nights!! I must have ordered those pre-lap band! Does anyone have more difficulty eating in the car? I have had 2 really bad pb's and they have both happened while driving. I am done with car dining! Everyone is doing so great! I need to get busy exercising. Even though I have 6cc in my 4cc band, I still feel like I am eating too much sometimes. Sonia 2 miles in 30 min is awesome - great work! Shirley I will be thinking of you with your upcoming knee surgery - let us know how that goes. Take care! Kim
  13. I just got my 2nd fill for a total of 6cc in my 4cc band. It has been less that 24 hours and I definitely feel more restriction - hopefully will do well this time. Has anyone else had the experience of this amount or more in 4cc band? My surgeon assured me that he has a few patients with more and it is very individualized on how much fill is tolerated.

    October 2006 Bandsters!

Hi Everyone, The weather is freezing in KC so it is great to catch up with my post reading today. I went in for my 2nd fill yesterday ($175). I am filled to 6cc in my 4cc band. I had a long talk with the surgeon and they assure me this is safe and fill amounts just differ from person to person. I definitely feel full faster now. They emphasized protein first, no drinking with meals, nickel sized bites, and chew, chew, chew- so I am trying to make better choices. They felt I may need one more (very small if any) fill in a month, so we will see. I have only lost 15 pounds so far (2 pounds down for the Valentines day challenge). Only 2 exercise sessions in - I really need to get back on track with that. I continue to be encouraged by your posts and success! Thanks!

Shirley you are a great motivator and congratulations on the size 18 jeans!! I certainly need to be making better food choices and move more. I am a little fearful of my second fill tomorrow that I haven't lost anything, or even worse gained. I hope not but can only go forward. Great job on everyone on all of the exercising!!

    October 2006 Bandsters!

Hi everyone! I DID make it to the gym today for the first time in a very long time - 30 minutes (1.25 miles) walking on the treadmill, brought my husband too. Jules determination inspired me with the exercise bike, thanks!! I am also making an appointment with a personal trainer to help with a routine. That is the good news. Not so good news - my 2nd PB since banding this morning - it occurred after a few bites of eggs- not sure if I ate too fast or it was because I didn't have any coffee today to "loosen" things up. I also weighed in today - 279lbs - I feel a little discouraged I haven't lost more but can only go forward from here. I am looking forward to our current 15 pounds by Valentines challenge with exercise! I am so encouraged by all of you and love reading your posts! Keep up the great work!!

    October 2006 Bandsters!

I am in on the -15 pounds by Valentines! I go in for my 2nd fill on Jan 5th - Even with almost 4cc in 4cc band I still don't feel like I have quite enough restriction. Today I had half of a hamburger with veggies on top, white bread bun and baked beans -able to eat all just fine. I really am only feeling stuck in the morning. Any suggestions for this? I haven't been very good about exercising lately so my goal is to get to the gym this week and get on a routine, and/or dust off the eliptical trainer in my dining room! Hope everyone had a great Christmas and avoided too many of those pesky treats...

Chrispygal!! You are doing great - 34 pounds is awesome! I know what you mean about the guilt thing - however it is the end result that counts and you are doing it...
  21. mariecarmen- I do this too - sip my drink while in public to avoid getting stuck! It is nice to know someone else shares the same experience with that. At home I am usually do not drink- it is most difficult with morning coffee - I love to have that with breakfast and need to get better about just drinking it before.

    October 2006 Bandsters!

Hi Everyone. I have a confession to make: I had my first fill almost one week ago 4cc/ 4cc band! I have actually done OKay - only one PB episode just after the fill, and I definitely feel restriction. The confession part is I am figuring out things go down so much easier if I drink with eating! So I have been doing that more than I should for sure. It takes longer and more concentration to eat solid meats/protein and chew, chew, chew. Is any one else experiencing this? I am glad I am off work for awhile and far, far away from the holiday treats (I am a teacher on Christmas break :girl_hug: I have lost some but should probably get a scale!! Hope everyone is doing better than I have resisting holiday goodies - BE STRONG

    October 2006 Bandsters!

I now fully understand the meaning of PB. I had my first fill 3 days ago 4cc/ 4cc band. I have been doing okay being really careful. Today I had food crisis, forgot my protein bar, ect - I stopped at a drive through and was planning to try a mozzarella stick and a bite of a chicken finger - BAD IDEA!!! I was driving and felt so much pain in my band! It felt like it might never end. THen while driving... PB... all over my brand new nursing scrubs and car. Yuk! Slime and all. I had to go home & change for sure. Thanks for letting me share!

    October 2006 Bandsters!

Jessica thanks for sharing your favorites and what is working for you. I thought my fill was aggressive too - when I asked the surgeon he said it is "individualized" for everyone according to the flow and how much is tolerated under the fluroscopy. We will see!

    October 2006 Bandsters!

Hi Everyone! I was banded on Halloween and had my first fill today - 4cc in a 4cc band. It was not painful, just a little discomfort with the small numbing needle. They told me I was really full so take it easy today. I should have planned better on what to eat tonight - I had 2 bites of pizza, got stuck for a few minutes and I have not been hungry since. I hope to do better with that tomorrow. Being filled is going to take some getting used to for sure. What is everyone's favorite meal?
