Thanks all! While I appreciate the input, I would like to caution some of you on your tone. If I am needing "help" please offer a suggestion of who/where. If you can't fathom a fat chick making a fat chick choice lol **shrugs** If you can't relate to a mistep and have no encouragement...please keep it moving. I don't need anyone being condesending (not to be confused with being honest/telling it like it is). I talked to my doctor about my spoonful and he assured me that I would be fine and that ALLOT of people slip (if they want to admit it to others or even themselves). I also understand that there are those that NEVER mistep **round of applause** Anywho, I've been back on track the past couple of days. Again, thank you for the support. In the event I mess up again...I'll be back to confess it.

I am taking a liquid form of Protein called Promod. I was given this stuff after a surgery a year ago. It made sense for me to hunt it down and use it now (on full liquids). It's literally smaller than a shot and it's fruit flavored. 1 oz= 10grams of protein. It's sold on Amazon.< /p>

Just sharing! For those of us who may be struggling to get protein in.

Thank you for the suggestion! I am allergic to soy. I tried it pre-surgery and scrarched for hours. LOL! I tried it again because I have never had a food allergy (that I knew of)....yep, it was the itchy and scratchy show all over again.

The thing about collagen Protein is it's great for the regeneration of connective tissue and skin. But after WLS what you need most is to prevent your muscles from going into a catabolic state. That's when your body starts burning your muscles for fuel because of your severely reduced intake of calories. You don't want that, but your body is happy to do it because it sees those muscles as unnecessary and actually detrimental to the survival of your other systems (like heart and lungs). Your body sees those muscles as a draw of calories that could be better used elsewhere. You have to save your muscles from yourself, and whey protein does that better than anything because it is absorbed so fast by the body. So pound for pound, it will do the most good for preventing a catabolic state than any other protein. There are other Proteins that will do some good, but they are just not as fast absorbing as the whey.

I think we need whey isolate because our stomachs can not process collagen/ full Protein powders. We do not have the digestive abilities of a full stomach.
A lot of people choose different Proteins because they cannot tolerate the whey isolate.
Good luck to everyone and stay healthy <3

I had a hard time with whey Protein after surgery so I used a soy Protein shake from trader joe's it was really gentle on my stomach. My stomach has gotten better and I can have some whey but I try to watch my intake. If you can deal with it then it is the best for helping to lose the weight.

That product contains hydrolyzed collagen which is of no nutritional value to you post sleeve surgery. You need whey Protein if at all possible.

Thanks for sharing I will look it up. I am currently using the chocolate shake by Premier Protein shakes. I buy a case from costco $25 and they are 11oz 30 grams of Protein each. Have a great day!!

All I can say, with my limited experience, is put one foot in front of the other and get back on track. Call your doctor and figure out why you did it. **waves wand** Go forth and don't do it again.

To say we're all going through the same thing isn't really true. Some of you cheat and are fine, while others follow the rules religiously and still get a leak.
If you had the slightest clue how painful and life threatening a leak is, you wouldn't cave so easily.
And I agree, if you know you're cheating and make it a point to chew meticulously the food you shouldn't have it's not a "slip" but absolute disregard for the rules your Bariatric team set up for YOU. To keep you HEALTHY!
I haven't had a drink in 20 days. I can't even have ice chips. If I can keep myself from drinking out of the sinks in my hospital room or sneaking a swig from the Water fountain I pass every time I walk, surely anybody can say no to foods they aren't supposed to have yet. I've had to avoid a survival instinct by keeping Water out of my mouth for TWENTY DAYS and at the earliest I can have ie chips for Christmas if my barium swallow comes back ok.
You want to taste something just because you crave the taste? It can wait a couple more weeks. if you give in so easily so early you're setting yourself up for complications, not just a leak, but some serious regain in the future. No single bite of food is worth going through what I'm going through now and others like Iggy have in the past.

    Simply...
Quite true that my leak was not caused by anything I did. I followed doctors orders to a t after surgery (both) because of a fear of leaks While I didn't cause the leak, I do know what can cause one, as well as...and the more important part...what happens to your body when you have a leak. Who cares how it happens? I spoke with Liz many times when she was feeling off about what a leak is and how it could affect her to help her with symptoms. Her leak was not caused the same way as mine, and yet, turns out Liz had a leak and talking about it with her led her to go have her symptoms checked out. The why of the situation isn't the issue...it's the outcome and I'd rather the OP never know what a leak feels like. Heck I'd rather no one ever knew and I'll keep making an effort to educate people as to how and why they happen as well as how to avoid them.
You are not a doctor and have never experienced a leak, and yet you are an expert apparently on what's ok to eat and how. Your lack of experience or medical expertise is obvious and yet you are going to question the validity of the statements of someone who's been down the horrible road first hand???? That's kind of silly really isn't it? You see the irony??
OP, I'm glad you found a support group to attend. I was not trying to insult you in suggesting help. This is a long road and it's not just about the surgery. It's about understanding the seriousness of this huge step you took and using the tool correctly...and recovering in a healthy fashion so you have a long and happy life without the burden of food issues over your head. I hope you find huge success in the journey, but please...just think quickly of what could happen early out. It's not "cheating" it's Russian roulette and no one wants to play that game.

The "harsh" people have nearly died from this process. Their insight is one of the pain and horror that "Just a bite" can actually take you down. We do this out of a deep desire to NEVER see anyone else post that they have a leak and the trauma they are going through. If you think the temptation is killing you, try slicing a hole in your lungs while you're awake to drain out the poison Fluid the leak is sending there. We are trying to knock some sense into people we don't want to see suffer. Holding your hand and saying it will be alright is not the responsible course.
Those who say "it won't kill you" haven't had complications, definitely didn't face life threatening ones. That's very clear. We don't have a lot pretty to share because we've seen the ugly side and to see someone take themselves there without need is difficult for us.
A feeding disorder is any disorder or "illness" associated with food. It can be eating too little, too much, throwing up on purpose, chewing and spitting out, limited textures, it runs the gambit. It's a medical term associated with food issues in adults and children. Eating too much or eating to tamp emotions falls under the umbrella as well.
And as to communication styles. I was on the national speakers circuit. You may not like me, but people pay to let me tell them like it is. I'm ok with doing it frankly...sharing both the good and the bad in life in a way that should send a clear message. I didn't pat my clients on the back either. They seemed to like that. If you don't like it, try ignoring me please.
