  1. Feeling down and depressed. Is there a light at the end of this tunnel?

  2. Let me correct myself, I didn't write that right. I fluctuate between the same 2/3 pounds a day, so one day I'm 207, the next 208, then sometimes 209...then 207 again...yada yada yada. I just can't seem to get past this "210" ghost. I'm always hanging around there.

I find comfort and fear in you saying my Dr. is full of shit, because I chose Dr. Simpson since he was "the best in AZ" re: lapband. He doesn't tell me how much he's filling me with, which is a little annoying, but it shouldn't be.

A typical day will consist of no breakfast, a protien shake or 1/3 can chicken w/a little mayo & celery or a little BBQ sauce for lunch, and a "normal" dinner of a chicken breast & veggies. I do cheat occasionally & have Taco Bell for lunch or a tiny scoop of ice cream.

I have been "feeling" the band...getting stuck on Chicken a lot, and a boiled egg.

  3. Weight loss?? Not going at all. In fact, I fluctuate 2-3 lbs/day gain! My Dr. says there is no such thing as restriction; the band just help you slow your eating habits and realize what you're eating. I foolishly thought that since I was so active and already health concious that once I had the band the weight would FALL off. This past weekend was a doozy with failing to watch what I was eating, with Memorial Day & bday. I am getting my 2nd fill on Thurs, and I know the Dr will be  that I haven't lost anything. IDK. I know it's only been 2 mo p/op, but I'm already feeling like I just wasted $18K. It makes me sick to know that I went through SURGERY and I am still doomed to an obese life. There is always MORE that I could be doing to lose, but as it is, I work out 5-7 x's/wk for 60-90 mins. I could be watching what I eat more, limiting portions, counting calories. :frown:

How are you? How are you doing?? How was your holiday weekend? Thanks for keeping in touch!

  4. I am so sorry for you! That sounds terrible!!

I had my fill yesterday too at 2:45...it was more like 3:15 when Dr. S actually got into the room. A quick 5 minutes later, I was walking out. It didn't hurt at all...and I don't know how much I got. He said he fills until he feels a back pressure, then goes a little more. He said the volume doesn't matter. He's the Dr...but it's so hard NOT to compare what he's doing (or not doing) with what others on this forum are experiencing.

I don't really feel any different...do you? The only thing I noticed is that this morning when I was drinking my protien shake, I could feel in sitting around the band & slowly draining. It was just there, not noticeable uncomfortable or anything.

  5. Hey...are you in AZ? Did you get banded by Dr. Simpson? I was wondering because yesterday I got my first fill there & saw a truck that said "Allie Kat TAttoo" and thought of you...

  6. Congratulations!! You'll have to let me know how you feel. How was the fill? Do you feel restriction when you eat not? Did you gian weight after eating "normal" for a few weeks, because I am still up 2 pounds!!!!

  7. me too! 2 pounds up. I don't think it's from over-eating thoug...just from EATING period. we went so long without food in our intestines, they're starting to fill back up. GRRRRRRR.....

It is discouraging. I'm walking about 3 1/2 miles a night now, so I hope to see a decline on the scale soon. If not, I'll just have to have faith that when I get my fill it will start to happen.

  8. Honestly, I'm discouraged, which is either a) totally normal 3 weeks post-op or B) bad news since I'm only 3 weeks p-o. I can't decide.

Today is 3 weeks post-op, and so I get to start mushies, but I started last night. I had Thai. Green curry sauce on rice. Today I was up 2 POUNDS! There's NO WAY I had 2 pounds of food last night. I had some broth soup before my rice & so didn't have much rice (about 1 cup) b/c I was so full!

Please tell me that a weight GAIN is normal once you start eating food again?

I went to Dr. S on 3/15 and he said all looks great. I felt kind of disconnected from him, b/c he didn't really hear my concerns, made me feel that they weren't legitimate. Even though I had only been drinking about 500 - 600 cals/day, I had only lost 11 pnds. He said, "Don't expect to see this kind of rapid wl in the future." Rapid??

He said that on 5/13, my 6 week P-o, he'll determine IF I need a fill. So, I'm a little down today.

But your recent photos are still inspiring!!

  9. Yay for real food! Have you noticed that since you're able to eat again you had a slight gain in the first few days? I'm so worried that after eating food I'll gain back all of the water weight I lost from starving myself!

  10. I am very much looking forward to Wednesday when I can eat some scrambled eggs & mashed potatoes, even though my Dr. said he doesn't like the potatoes b/c they turn into fat. I'm already looking at other "mushies" that I can have!! I could never be a vegetarian; I miss MEAT!

My surgery went very well. I had a breast reduction in 3/02 and that was my only other surgery, and a lot more extensive, so this one was a breeze! I took 3 days off of work and then was back! I felt "normal" after about 10 days with regard to the gas & bloating, and right about now my appetite is returning which is BAD!

I went for my post-op on Thursday, and Dr. S. said to come back May 13 to see if after a week of REGULAR eating (normal foods w/ strict measuring) I'll need a fill or NOT. It kind of made me mad b/c I WANT a fill, so if he decides I don't need one...well, it ain't gunna be pretty!

How are you doing with the liquidy diet? Have you lost weight? Are you happy with your progress so far?

  11. Hey Cindy,

I saw that you had to have a "readjustment" surgery about 3 months in. What happened?

  12. Hey Pickles!

Just wondering how you're doing. Hope all is well!

    Melanie

  13. Hey! I saw that you're on day 6 PO...and so am I!

I'd love to keep in touch to discuss progress and concerns we may have about how we're feeling as time progresses...does that sound OK with you?

  14. Hey,

We were banded on the same day! Let's be friends! LOL

How are you doing? Did your Dr. put you on a liquid diet, and if so, for how long? I'm on liquids for 3 weeks & then mushies for 2 weeks...not sure how I'll do, but I know that on May 16th I'm going to get to eat some meat!!!

Keep in touch, it will be good to have someone banded on the same day to track progress with!

    Melanie

  15. Really, I feel great!! I'm back at work, and aside from a little uncomfort from my pants on the main incision and a little gassy gurgles, I feel "normal". I bought the ziplock (gladware) containers & have been using them for my food (soup). I've been surviving on that, jello & pudding. I have an occasional urger to CHEW and really have to force myself NOT to eat other items, but it's mental and not physical hunger.

Easter dinner was pretty much torture. Homemade bread, lamb, scalloped potatos, broccoli with hollendaise sause...I brought a pureed potato & broccoli soup & jello...which I ate a timy bit of. I used the excuse of, "I'm not feeling well" since no one knows of my surgery but hubby & my dad. I worked.

    How are you doing?

    Mel

  16. GOt it...Gas-X Strips & 1 Cup Ziplock bowls. I'll always be sure to eat Protien first, because I know that you risk muscle depletion if you don't get enough protien.

Where can I get the papaya enzyme...and how exactly does it help you? What does it feel like when you get "stuck"?

Are there certain foods you've found that you simply cannot eat anymore? I've heard that bread is a big one...have you found that to be true?

    Thanks again!!

  17. Thanks so much for your info and encouagement! I'll be sure to keep in touch and ask as many questions as you'll allow! T minus 2 days! I'm so full of mixed emotions, as I'm sure you can relate to, and hope to have the success you've had.

Is there anything you suggest to make the best out of the surgery? Like things you would have done if you knew then what you know now?

  18. Hey! I am going to be getting the single incision surgery too, and would love to see your "before" and "after" pictures! What were your b4 stats, when was your surgery and what are your stats now?

    Thanks!

  19. That's awesome! I haven't looked into Dr. Juarez, but thanks so much for the referral. Do you know what practice he's with or an e-mail address for him so I can ask his office what the cost would be?

How was his bedside manner? Was he open to your concerns/questions?

How was your pain after the surgery? During the liquid diet? Did you work, and if so, how long did you take off?

THanks again for offering to help me by answering questions! I'm not far from you..I live in Litchfield Park!
