    1 Week Post Op...some concerns

Thank you so much to everyone's posts! They were very reassuring that I'm still "normal"...well, as much normality as there can be with the band I mean! The pain is kins of like a cramp after you eat then exercise...more like if I pulled something. But, it's very intermittant...so I just have to deal with it. Good luck with everyone's journey!!:smile2:
  6. Hey fellow Bandsters! I was banded 3/31 and have some questions for you. 1. I periodically have a sharp pain on my lower right abdomen, in the lower fat roll, opposite side of my port when I walk. Is this common? 2. It's day 7 post op and I'm, of course, on full liquids. I sustain myself with 2 Protein Shakes a day, a cup of Soup for lunch, and V-8, Water, and sometimes sherbet or SF jello/pudding. For 2 days now, my intestines have been VERY unhappy and I've been very crampy with gas & the runs. Is this also normal? 3. Throughout the day, my insides are VERY loud. I'm not sure if it's hunger or my upset intestines, or a combination of both, but it makes for a very...umm....interesting feeling. I can't decide if I'm hungry or full...and that feeling alternates all the time. Is this normal? 4. When I feel like I have to burp, I really have to contort my body to allow the air to come out. I sometimes hiccup instead of burp, which is SO PAINFUL. Is it typical to have to "help" air up past the band? Does this last forever, or usually go away? Thanks for all your help!!
  7. Hey Pickles!

Just wondering how you're doing. Hope all is well!

  10. Hey! I saw that you're on day 6 PO...and so am I!

I'd love to keep in touch to discuss progress and concerns we may have about how we're feeling as time progresses...does that sound OK with you?

    Words cut like a knife

The world is full of cruel and judgemental people...and those who have not have the band, let alone ever had to live their live obese...just have NO IDEA. I didn't want to try to change my life and at the same time have to deal with the judgements or "supervision" of various family members/onlookers knowing that their thoughts would not be supportive, so when I was banded 3/31, I only told my DH (of course), my sister, best friend & dad. That's it. I didn't tell my mom, because I know she is competitive and very judgemental, and I didn't tell any of my brothers, co-workers, or other friends because I didn't want to have the CONSTANT doubts shoved in my face. I also didn't want to be discredited for the progress I will be making, because as the PP's said, Yes, I have the Band, but like a screwdriver, it is a TOOL and won't do any good unless you're willing to put in the work and change. Just know that those who matter to you support you and your journey...and those that don't support you...well, they just shouldn't matter either. Good luck!

    15 days post op

I'm right there with you re: the vomiting! I'm on day 6 PO and still have a whole 2 more weeks until MUSHIES! I can't believe it!! Great job on your 22 pound loss; are you able to see or feel the difference yet in clothes?

    Easter 2010

    congratulations! You look amazing!
  14. Hey,

We were banded on the same day! Let's be friends! LOL

How are you doing? Did your Dr. put you on a liquid diet, and if so, for how long? I'm on liquids for 3 weeks & then mushies for 2 weeks...not sure how I'll do, but I know that on May 16th I'm going to get to eat some meat!!!

Keep in touch, it will be good to have someone banded on the same day to track progress with!

  15. I'm in for 20! If I lost 20 pounds by MD, I would be at 189...Not only into ONE-derland, but lower than I can remember in 12 years!! HEAVEN!!
  16. Really, I feel great!! I'm back at work, and aside from a little uncomfort from my pants on the main incision and a little gassy gurgles, I feel "normal". I bought the ziplock (gladware) containers & have been using them for my food (soup). I've been surviving on that, jello & pudding. I have an occasional urger to CHEW and really have to force myself NOT to eat other items, but it's mental and not physical hunger.

Easter dinner was pretty much torture. Homemade bread, lamb, scalloped potatos, broccoli with hollendaise sause...I brought a pureed potato & broccoli soup & jello...which I ate a timy bit of. I used the excuse of, "I'm not feeling well" since no one knows of my surgery but hubby & my dad. I worked.

    How are you doing?

    Depressed

I was banded 3/31, and am pretty much "satisfied" with a protien shake or a cup of soup. I want to eat, because of my mental games, but really don't feel like eating. My insides are making noises like you wouldn't believe...but I think it's gas? You're lucky Jilly29...I am on liquids until 4/21 and then MUSHIES for another 2 weeks. Can't eat solids until May 12!!
