    Hello! Hello! New here...

Most places even with self pay it includes post op care and fills. along with complications are covered. Because you have insurance i am not surprised you thought this but i will be self pay/financing ect and when researching they told me basically its a whole package. If you go out of country i am sure you have to pay out of pocket every time for fillings but that is because you had a foreign surgeon do it. Correct me if i am wrong.

    Hello! Hello! New here...

by the way if you are paying out of pocket i totally suggest eating like a horse for a few weeks and getting your weight up to 35 BMI. i would hate to go through meeting and what not only to be told" i don't do surgery below 35 BMI."

    Hello! Hello! New here...

Hi Melanie Mallory here, much the same weight. 208-212lbs depending on the day. 5'1 and 22 years old, and a mother, but not of three! WOW props to you! Anyway i feel we are much in the same boat so to speak. I feel like i am borderline weight when it comes to the surgery. Fingers are crossed that i will be able to get Financing. God i do hope so. I have my consulatation with the sergeon i have chosen to meet first.... i was told that for the place i am having it in Washington State it will cost 17,000$ But i was told that includes the surgery, the assistant for the doctor, all follow up care...... EVEN!!! complications that may happen for 2 years!! I thought that was Awesome!!! Yes 17,000$ is expensive, but i had open heart surgery 5 almost 6 years ago and i saw the bills from that, they were over a million dollars for only 1 year of treatment. I had Kaiser back then and they covered it all. so i was relieved that the surgery for lap band here was under 20,000$. So far i have set up an appointment with my primary care doctor. to basically tell him what i am going to do and what not. get his opinion... the more opinions the better informed you will be. when i meet with this surgeon, i plan on meeting at least two others to be sure i have a good relationship with them after all i will prolly be seeing a lot of them for a while! Any way good luck and its nice to see someone else around closer to my weight. it will be interesting if we keep in touch and support each other in the process.
  7. Hi My insurance will not cover my surgery. No big surprise there..... but i am wondering what kind of financing those out there did. the interest rate on it ect...??? I found one place for financing but the interest rate was 24.99% my jaw literally dropped. My husband and i have thought about getting a personal loan or refinancing our home, which in the economy has held quite a bit of value. we were refinancing before we decided about the lap band but now we are thinking we would like to take some money out at 6.5% interest rate. Anyone do something similar? How and what did you do to make your lap band dreams possible? thanx Mallory

    Marijuana Use After Surgery

Regular Pot head. I have not smoked in over 2 months. Miss it but only that. No withdrawals, husband is the same. Not banded yet but don't really intend to smoke much this year. If I am paying for this surgery with financing there goes our green money!!! Pot is expensive.... Anyway, if you are not wanting to cough because of band slipage, you should invest in a volcano vaporizer or one of the cheaper ones. It is practically harmless on your lungs, and you actually absorb more THC with it, therefore you get higher with less. smooth on the lungs and throat. Bong is still harsh. I have found blunts smoother, however not the best for your lungs in reality and it wastes weed. But its still my favorite way to smoke it! anyway good luck with the munchies. :frown:
  9. Hi I am Mallory. Made a very big decision with my Husband last night. We decided to do what ever necessary to get this procedure done. I am about 210lbs. I could be more or less but i don't currently have my scale. I am in Japan for 2 more weeks, been here already for a month and a half. Before I left i was about 208-209lbs ish. Some would say I don't weigh enough but i am small boned and 5' 1inches. I am a small short person other than the fat I carry. I do not think this is some magic cure but I have done the Diets and counting calories and have had small success as in 10 or 15 lbs but that all comes back slowly if any portion of my routine changes. I need a tool that will work with me and also me with it. I can go back to counting calories and being a Gym rat if i could only have hope that this time i would lose significantly. I have medical history to and if you are interested in that you can read my profile. Anyway just wanted to introduce myself and say that I hope all the chips fall into place and the new me can come to the surface! :frown:
