  1. Hello all. On Wednesday I will spend 4 hours speaking with my surgeon, dietitian and psychologist to make sure I an appropriate candidate for the lap band. Can you help me with questions I should be asking of them? I will be using Dr. Prachand at the University of Chicago Hospitals.
  2. Tomorrow I am going to the seminar. What questions should I ask? Will I be able to ask questions? What should I expect to see and how long should I expect to be there?
  3. Hello everyone. I am new to this site and to the lap band system. I have an appointment to attend a seminar this Tuesday. I am 33 years old, have been married for 10 years, have a wonderful husband and great kids. I am about 5'6 and am 255 which is higher than I have ever been ( even while pregnant). I have hypertension, had gestational diabetes with both children, and have a herniated disc in my back. I have struggled with weight my entire life and am excited about lap band and this site! My surgeon will be Dr. V. Prachand at the University of Chicago Hospitals which have an excellent reputation. I have United Health care insurance that will cover the procedure at 100% thank God! I do have a question though, What should I expect at the seminar?
  4. Hello, I am new to this site and LAP-BAND®. I am in the very early stages, as a matter of fact, I am going to the seminar this Tuesday. I have United HealthCare through my husband's job and he works for GE Healthcare, a extremely large company. I called them before I called to schedule my appointment and received the response the procedure is covered if I meet the criteria (the rep was very nice!) I wanted to know if the insurance co required you to do a pre-op weight loss program and if so, how long, 3 or 6 months? What has been you experience with United Healthcare? Is there anything else you think I should know? I am so worried and excited at the same time. I am 255lb with a BMI of 41. Thanks, Excited!
