Introduction/Seminar

Hello everyone. I am new to this site and to the lap band system. I have an appointment to attend a seminar this Tuesday. I am 33 years old, have been married for 10 years, have a wonderful husband and great kids. I am about 5'6 and am 255 which is higher than I have ever been ( even while pregnant). I have hypertension, had gestational diabetes with both children, and have a herniated disc in my back. I have struggled with weight my entire life and am excited about lap band and this site! My surgeon will be Dr. V. Prachand at the University of Chicago Hospitals which have an excellent reputation. I have United Health care insurance that will cover the procedure at 100% thank God!

I do have a question though, What should I expect at the seminar?

At my seminar, they went over the Lap-band surgery vs. the gastric by-pass. They talked about the risks and benefits of each....the recovery time...stuff like that. And it was nice because they also had 2 people that had each had one of the procedures, so they talked about their experiences and brought in before and after pics to pass around.
