Day 3 Post Op..is this normal
I had my surgery on Monday and the pain is better. I stopped the pain meds and am taking extra strength Tylenol. I'm so sleepy and am having trouble drinking a lot of anything. I've been drinking 2-4oz shakes and water, but I just made some cream soup because my stomach was screaming at me and I found it went down pretty good. I was having a tough time with fluids going down really slow and yes it does feel like a bubble is there. I'm glad I'm not the only one feeling like that.

Having a tough time.
I had to do 2 weeks of 4 protein shakes and 5-1/2 cups servings of sugar-free pudding, no sugar added applesauce, weight control oatmeal, or low-fat cream soups (strained). A Half a cup is not much But I'm happy to say I'm having my surgery on Monday!!!!! Then I have 2 weeks of just liquids to look forward to before going to mushy foods....:frown:.

Introduction/Seminar
At my seminar, they went over the Lap-band surgery vs. the gastric by-pass. They talked about the risks and benefits of each....the recovery time...stuff like that. And it was nice because they also had 2 people that had each had one of the procedures, so they talked about their experiences and brought in before and after pics to pass around.

Band Me I'm Ready!
That's great. It's nice to think about what the future may hold. I'm 31 (well soon to be), married with 2 children. I've always been overwieght, but just recently decided I want a change. I'm sick of going outside to play with my kids and just sitting there watching them run around. At my heaviest I weighed 271, but as of this morning I'm at 259. I went to the seminar on Jan 13th and know this is what I want. I'm going to the nurtritionist tomorrow for the first time and have my surgeon appt on the 17th. My insurance requires a 6 month dr. supervised diet too, but the nurse said they may accept my prior weight loss program, which I'm hoping they do. Good luck....we should keep in touch. It's always nice to have someone along the way with you

Encouragement for Pre-Banders
That's awesome!!!! I'm going to my nutritionist tomorrow for my first appt and I'm so excited. Then I have my first appt with the surgeon on the 17th I'm at the point where it still feels like it's never going to happen.....

6 month pre-op diet question
I'm going for my consultation on the 17th and I know my insurance requires a 6 month diet too. I'm pretty bummed about it, but I know how badly I want this so I'm willing to do anything. I think as long as you don't gain any weight from the first months weight you'll be fine, so I've heard. I've started trying to eat better. I eat 3 meals with no snacking in between....and at night I'll eat carrot stick and a yogurt dip. I've also been trying to work out 20-30 minutes a day Monday - Friday. I just keep on looking at peoples before and after pics for motivation. I want this so badly..... Good Luck!!!

New here from Wylie Tx
Hello, My name is Jessica and I attended the seminar last Wednesday night. I was told that I would have to wait about 3 weeks for the Dr.'s office to contact my insurance and then call me to begin setting up my appointments. I know my insurance requires a 6 month supervised diet, so I'm very anxious to begin this whole process. But I'm so determined to do this and want it so bad that I am willing to do anything. I also have 2 children that keep me motivated to want to change my life. Right now my BMI is about 47....I'M READY FOR MY NEW LIFE!!!!!
