vitamin D Defincient

Question..??? I got a letter yesterday from my Surgical group telling me that the blood tests showed that I was Vitamin Defincient. and that they called in a script. and I dont know if I should be worred or not. I mean I do live in Central New York were the Sun never comes out.. LOL but serious.. I mean I just hope they say that I can still have the surgery. I google it and it did say that peopl with BMI over 34 can be and it is also cause of heart disease which that has me worred as well. So glad I was able to get that off my chest I was wonding if any one had the same thing.

Thanks,

:smile2:

I was also diagnosed with Vitamin D deficiency.....way before opting for the band - I took the prescription and it's fine now. I have to take a D3 supplement now. I don't think it's anything to be too worried about. I also have a potassium deficiency, discovered during pre-op testing. I'm getting banded on Friday and doc told me to eat a banana every day during the pre-op diet. I was kind of thankful for that - sure beats protein shakes.

With everyone wearing sunscreen these days, I am thinking this is becoming more common.

I came up deficient on my last blood test. No biggie, just a supplement and all is well.
