  1. Ever since I've reach good restriction, I hiccup 3 times after I'm full. Kind of funny!
  2. Congratulations on your success! Totally Awesome!!!!
  3. I am also on medication for thyroid, but so far I haven't had any changes. I do worry about it and will need to be rechecked in about 3 months. I thought as I lost weight, my medication would go down. Guess I'll just have to wait. But, I don't feel any different.
  4. I like the Champion brand. You can find them on-line and they have different styles depending on your activity level.
  5. 6-6-09 2-25-11 This is after losing 67 pounds! I still have another 30 pounds to go!
  6. I have found that sipping on hot tea after a stuck episode helps me. Then depending on how I'm feeling, I may be able to eat later in the day. Otherwise, I'll stick with liquids for the rest of the day and try to go back to solids the next day.

  8. According to the "BMI" calculator, I am no longer obese! I have waited a long time to get to this point and am very excited! I just wanted to share the news! Still need to lose another 25 pounds to get out of the "overweight" category - but I know I can do it! Good luck to everyone out there - It's an amazing journey!
  9. The band will definately help you with the huge portions and eating fast. For me, after I finally reached good restriction there is no way I can overeat. It's a great feeling to just be satisfied and not stuffed. The band is just a tool and it takes time to get used to it and for it to work for you. Make sure you do your research before getting banded. This site is a great place to ask questions and read about other people experience. For me, it's been the best decision I have made in regards to my weight loss. Good luck!
  10. I also lose at a slow rate - maybe a pound a week. But, the scale is moving in the right direction. Hang in there and don't obsess over the number on the scale. Be happy with the NSV's!
  11. Congratulations! Keep up the good work!
  12. Patsal - Congratulations on your success so far. I feel like our stories are the same. I have just passed my one year mark and feel like I am a very slow loser too. But, I don't stress over it. I'm very happy with my progress and know the number on the scale will consistantly keep going down. I can't remember the last time I was at my current weight and every day is exciting as I lose more. Keep up the good work and keep your positive attitude! I believe posts like this will inspire others!
  13. I've been going to the Goodwill. Not only do I shop there, I donate as well. Funny thing... I went to JC Penney to buy a belt on my lunch the other day because my jeans were just too big. So, I picked up a size "L" and put it around me and thougnt, no I better go with an "XL". When I got back to work and put it on, it was almost too big. I had to put it on the last notch. It's still hard for me to get it in my head that I can fit into something smaller than an 'XL". Good luck to you all! Happy shopping!
  14. I have been banded just over a year and have been a slow loser as well. But, I have been very happy with my loss. I've lost on average a pound a week. Sometimes it's frustrating, but I keep telling myself "at least I'm not gaining a pound a week!". One of the benefits of losing slow is not having the hanging excess skin that by-pass patients have. Hang in there and don't be hard on yourself. Remember, this is a lifestyle change.
  15. I weigh myself every few days, but I don't count my weight loss until I have stayed at the same number at least two consecutive weigh-in's. That's when I update ny ticker.
  16. Sounds like you're miserable. Why put more years into a marriage that doesn't look like it will ever work out? Why allow him to verbally abuse you? Run... fast!
  17. I am more amazed than disgusted when I watch people eat. My surgeon told me that I would notice it and it would make me wonder how people can eat like that. Sometimes it bothers me, but most of the time it doesn't. I often get done eating much sooner than anyone else at the table, and they just look at me like "that's all you're going to eat?" But I know I am much better off eating small portions and taking home leftovers.
  18. I have never been able to use the chat rooms? Are they not working at all, or could it be something on my system preventing me to get to them?
  19. I think it is a struggle for most of us. My mind seems to think I can still eat the way I used to, but my band won't let me. I can't tell you how many times I've gone out to a restuarant and order a meal thinking "I'll be able to eat it this time". But, I never can. I also have a problem with sweets. It seems like I go in spells. I rationalize eating sweets it internally because I'm not eating as many calories as I did in the past. I know this slows my weight loss down, but it is a never ending struggle - at least for me it is.
  20. Congratulations! I hope to be running some 5K's this summer as well!
  21. Congratulations on your success so far! Keep up the good work!
  22. Congratulations on your success! I am just past that 1 year mark and am also very happy with my progress. It has been slow, but soooo worth it!
  23. Guiness is the only beer I have found not to have carbonation. For me, it's a little strong. I prefer to stick with vodka if I'm going to have a drink.
  24. You definately need to weigh all your options when it comes to WLS. I am very happy with my decision to have Lap-Band vs Gastric Bypass. And yes, I would do it again. My weight loss has been slow and steady over the past year. I do not have any loose or saggy skin because of the gradual weight loss. I do not feel deprived from anything. As far as the port goes, it doesn't bother me at all. I sleep on my stomach with no problem. I believe the port size is all the same. They are fairly small. You should attend a WLS seminar that explains all of the options out there. Almost all of them have an actual band/port there to show. Good luck with your decision.
