    Hey February 2010 Bandsters!

Started Mushies today! I am strictly following the diet given to me by my surgeons office. For Breakfast I had 2 tablespoons of cheerios with 1/2 cup milk, and 1 scrambled egg. You would think I was eating a steak for goodness sake the way i was eating it, lol. Then for a snack i had 6 crackers, 1 tbsp LF peanut butter and sugar free jelly...that was also delicious. For lunch was 4 tbsp chicken salad with 2 tbsp sweet potato. Tonight for dinner is 4 tbsp turkey meatball and 2 tbsp butternut squash. The caloric intake for this phase is about 800 which includes a protein shake thrown in the day at some point. What a difference a day makes! My spirits are lifted. It was definitely worth the wait. I dont know what it is, but I am craving really healthy foods. I don't even want junk/fast foods. I was told I can also have hummus (in place of a carb) which is my absolute fav so that was good news. So all of you bandsters who are approaching the mushie stage -hang on! You will get there and it will be very rewarding! Also a big congratulations to all of those recently banded! We are actually doing it~WE ROCK! Much Love <3

    Hey February 2010 Bandsters!

I completely understand what you are goin through. I seemed to have more pain than any of the other patients on the unit that had the banding, or any of the other people i know. Some people were talking about being back to work in a week, I on the other hand am 8 days post op, still feeling incision pain and just generally wiped out, and had my first meltdown yesterday. Wondering what I did to myself, wishing i hadn't done it, crying from the stress of it all. Ugh! But today I woke up with a little less pain and a lot more clarity. I just had to remind myself that I couldnt do this on my own. I was out of control and needed an intervention. I made a decision, its done and I had to start dealing with it. It has been a better day and it definitely gets easier with each day that passes. Hang in there!:wink2:

    Hey February 2010 Bandsters!

Hey Erin!! Wow, you are back to work?? You are definitely my hero, lol. I cant even think about working right now. Im still so sore. I was taking the vicodin at night to get a comfortable night sleep up until 2 days ago but now im not taking anything. It is definitely getting better day by day but still a rough process. Im actually starting to get the hunger pains now, especially when my hubby is cooking dinner for himself and our 4 yr old. But a few sips of Protein Shake and they go away . Keep in touch!

    Hey February 2010 Bandsters!

Thank you Amy! Its good to know Im not the only one who feels like crap post op. The 3 people i was in the hospital unit with who were banded yesterday by the same surgeon were all feeling pretty good, that made me a little nervous. but I do realize that everyone is different. I just couldnt imagine only taking liquid tylenol for this pain, lol. Im working on the Water, I promise  Fingers crossed that tomorrow is a better day! :w00t:

    Hey February 2010 Bandsters!

I am Officially BANDED! WooHoo! Was banded yesterday Feb 18th. Surgery was Supposed to be at 3:30pm but they called me at 12pm to come in early, and they were all standing around waiting for me when I got in...so needless to say everything went soo fast, lol. I am however in a lot of pain. The port site is sore, and i have alot of pain to my left chest and in the diaphragm area, which is most likely gas. But they sent me home with a script for vicodin and it is definitely taking the edge off. Cant wait to feel myself again, but I am so happy it is done and over with. I know this was the right decision, it just sux feeling so crappy. And as for eating/drinking....i honestly want nothing to do with it. I have only managed to get down an ice pop and a half a bottle of water today. I will try some broth in a little bit maybe ill have better luck. Congrats to those banded and who will be banded this month- we are all part of this journey together!!!

    Hey February 2010 Bandsters!

Hello everyone! I am new to this site, but not new to this topic...LAP-BAND®®® Surgery. I went to my first meeting in October of 2008, met with my surgeon in November 2008, then basically jumped through hoops for my insurance company for much of 2009. I was given 2 dates, one in June 2009, and the next in july 2009, both were cancelled because of denials from my insurance co. I was so frustrated and depressed. My insurance was through my husband and his job, so what I decided to do was opt-in to the insurance at my job (which is no cost for yourself, amazing right?). I enrolled in Nov 09, it became effective Jan 1st 2010, my surgeons office submitted the info to my new (and wonderful!) insurance co and I was approved for surgery 3 days later! So now my Surgery is scheduled for February 18th! WooHoo!! I am very excited but also very nervous. So I am hoping the support and information here will ease my mind a bit. Anyone scheduled for surgery the same day as I am? Pre Op Testing: Feb 12th Surgery Date: Feb 18th
