  1. Inormation on dietry can be obtained by doing a google search: LAP BAND SYSTEM POST OPERATIVE DIETARY GUIDELINES. or by visiting site: www.longviewregional.com This guide was produced by the Longview Regional Medical Center, 2901 N Fourth Street, TX 75605, 903-758-1818.
  2. Attention All, after some research I found a site that provided a chart for eating. After surgery, one should just have clear soups and vitamins, with water. Continue this for about day 8. Day 8,9 liquid diet, to include oatmeal thinned out. Some mushy mashed pot on day 10. Basically, I have cheese omelet or oat meal or shake and vitamin for breakfast; lunch is either tuna salad and 5 crackers and/or a microwave bowl of chili beans; dinner is mashed pot/mac cheese/a choice of either chicken, beef, or fish. Later on in the evening if still feel the hungar pains, a sugarless popsicle or tangerines-just the juice-do not eat the outside of the tangerines or an apple. Mr source for the recipe list is: LAPBAND POST OPERATIVE DIET INSTRUCTIONS. Go to google and check it out. Hope this helps for those who have received the surgery.

  4. :thumbup:Well it's been 5 days since my surgery. How I feel is lightheaded and weak, but I think its due to the meds. I finished my meds yesterday, but still have some discomfort in my mid section, and as if your burping it hurts the worst. I have been sticking to the liquid diet and lots of water in between. I have a thrist for water all the time.:tt2: So far I have been loosing about 1 kg a day. Started at 123.1 and now down to 117.5. I also began walking and riding a stationary bike for about 30 minutes. I have added juices to my diet to quench my thirst but the right ones. Additionally, I am using high protein vitamins effective today.:tt1: I hope my lightheadedness goes away prior to my beginning to work again in 8 more days. Does anyone know how long the soreness stays with you under the sterndom and on the left side. I do keep tabs of what I eat and drink, which is little. I am very happy that I chose LAP-BAND® surgery, as now I will feel great soon, my goal. Does anyone have a recipe list they wish to share with a beginner here. What do you eat each day for a week, at the 4 week point. I am on my second week next Monday so it's puree time and lots of soups. You may send any replies to giby97@hotmail.com. Thanks for listening.

  6. Started the new year with my surgery. Was evaluated 5 Dec 09 and had my surgery on 4 Jan 10. Traveled 4 hours and arrived 10 minutes prior to my surgery time. Within 10 minutes after warming up, I was in surgery and 30 minutes later done. I stayed in the hospital another day due to the snow fall we had in our area-no transportation. The next day I felt better for the taxi and bus ride (4 hours) to my home. Following the diet plan, liquids, water, a vitamin, and soups. The key I see is drinking water for me. I have seen a loss of about 6 pounds since Mon. I started this surgery with a weight of 270 and my goal will be 170 or 160. Of course I am 55 yrs old. My pain is subsiding now and next week 1-16-10 I will see the doctor for my first visit after surgery. If there are any suggestions on what to eat confortably after 4 weeks (solids) please advise. I can be reached at giby97@hotmail.com.:thumbup:

  8. Hello All, especially Kay, I am Ken Gibson and you and I are starting the new year right. I had my surgery on 1-4-10. It's been three days and I am at home resting, and tomorrow I will try to exercise some with my stationary bike. I am at 270 now, but since the surgery I have dropped about 6 pounds. I have noticed my symptions are the same as yours. I liked your entry cause it's the same as for me. Any assistance from all the pro's who have been past this stage would be helpful. Wish you a Great Year.

Hello All, I am Ken Gibson and just about one week out from having my surgery done. I am on liquid diet, plus vitamins, and water, plus I add soup. My first appointment is in one more week (2wks). I appreciate your information about eating proper and maintaining. My surgery was done on 1-4-10. Any advice as to what a meal program should be at the 4 week mark. You may send advice to giby97@hotmail.com. Thank you
  10. Hello I am Kenneth Gibson, and I am residing in South Korea. Monday I had my LAP-BAND® surgery done-very successful from a doctor in Seoul, Korea, his name is Soo In Kwon, MD.PHd. I am looking forward to learn about the diet plans and to finally reduce my weight. I have started at 270 pounds with a BMI 44.7. Now I am joining this site to learn about good eating habits, particularly what I can eat and what not. If anyone has any inputs as to a good diet plan please email me at giby97@hotmail.com. I want to make this a great final effort to reduce my weight and to live longer.
