  1. Yes it is. My weight was stalled for a couple of months yet I still lost a jeans size:)
  2. See my family doc says thyroid meds decrease as you lose weight. My surgeon says they increase. The fact that they don't agree just makes me want them checked more often. LOL
  3. I've had it for 16 years. My levels were last checked in March, I think. Anyway lately I wake up feeling so sleepy, I'm weak/ lightheaded and I've developed a horrible case of dandruff. I've lost about 30 pounds since they were last checked. I'm getting in my daily Protein, Vitamins and Water so my thyroid is the first thing I think of. As you've lost weight have your thyroid meds increased or decrease any? I'm going to the doc tomorrow. If it's nit my thyroid then I'm not sure what else it could be.
  4. Okay my tuck is scheduled for December 13th. My PS has a LOT of experience with ports and he will be moving and repositioning mine. He said I can get it unfilled before surgery or leave it, it's up to me. Now if I leave it filled will anything from the surgery cause it to swell? Also, I've been reading on the net and I found that most PS's recommend arnica tablets and bromelain to help with healing. I can't swallow anything bigger than a birth control pill most days. I can't even swallow a Tylenol unless it's a round shaped easy tab. Did you take the Arnica or Bromelain? Should I get a minor unfill just in case?
  5. Yes Cakegirl! That's it! I have them since I was 14. They settled and just have never moved.
  6. I use Ez Sweetz from Amazon. It's liquid Splenda so it's zero carbs. Sweet n low, Equal and Splenda are NOT truly zero carb. There are carbs in the powder/ filler that is in them.
  7. I peeled mine off after 5 days. It was itching way too badly and my surgeon's nurse said it was fine to take it off. I hate Dermabond. It irritates my skin way too much.
  8. Way to go!! That's amazing for being just 8 months out!
  9. Thanks ladies! DH's aunt just happened to pull up in my yard 15 minutes after I posted this. She volunteered to go with me that way I'd have help with the kids. We ended up having a good time. I drank an Atkins shake on the way there. With her help and the extra shake it wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it might be.
  10. Well, if they are walking they don't have to cross a major intersection. I may drop him off and then go back and pick him up and take him to the sleepover. I have a minivan so If I go back I can also fit 3 extra kids in my van. That would probably be the best idea huh?
  11. Well, before banding I knew how to eat healthy also. In fact I lost 45 pounds doing Weight Watchers but I was hungry all the time and I couldn't keep it off. Now I've lost almost 80 pounds and kept it all off. For me surgery was easy, I never needed any pain meds and I was back up chasing my kids around 2 days later. My blood work is all good and I've gotten rid of my high blood pressure, sleep apnea, extreme pain in my knees, and I have much more energy now. I have had a few problems with food getting stuck and swelling but all in all, I would definitely do it again if needed. My surgeon says to eat around 1000-1200 calories a day. Most days I eat around 1500 though and I know I should exercise but I don't, not on a regular basis anyway. I'm working on that though. I know 5 other ladies who have been banded for 6 years now. They are happy, healthy and have had no problems. Good Luck to you no matter what you decide.
  12. Due to some sinus issues and stuck episodes I've been on liquids for 3 days now. It's definitely helping but I'm weak and you know, liquids in, liquids out, I can't stay away from the bathroom. Dh is working today and my oldest ds has a birthday party and sleepover to go to. The birthday party is at a park and has NO bathroom. I'll have my other 2 small kids with me. I'd like to just drop him off and I know the mom would understand except.... The sleepover is at their house which is approximately 1 mile from the park and they don't have room in their vehicle to buckle all the kids in. It's only 1 mile but you have to cross a MAJOR intersection in that 1 mile. I don't really feel comfortable with ds not being buckled up. What would you do? My ds is 11 by the way.
  13. Are you tracking your calories? At first I wasn't losing much post op but then I realized my calorie intake was super low. I started using 2% milk in my shakes to up my calories and then I started seeing a difference. I aimed for 900-1000 calories. Don't worry, it will come off.
  14. I'd love to do a challenge! I have a tummy tuck scheduled for December 13 th. I like to lose these last few stubborn pounds by then.
  15. I have United Healthcare. I was approved within 2 weeks with no 6 month diet plan. It was super easy.
  16. To my surprise she wasn't shocked at all. She didn't try to talk me out of it and she said that she is the week of my surgery and the week after so she can come stay with me and help me if needed. Of course I didn't tell her that I'm getting breast implants at the same time, I didn't figure she needed to know that just yet. LOL
  17. I disagree with the food orders also. After any sort of band adjustment you never go straight to normal food. I'd do liquids, then mushies, trhen solids.
  18. When I get time I shall post a pic then:) LOL
  19. It's 37 packs with 50 g in each pack. I only use 25 grams per shake. I bought the 5 pack instead that way I could pick and choose which flavors I wanted.
  20. Oh and with my UHC policy you had to have a BMI of 40 or a BMI between 35 and 39 with 1 co morbidity like high blood pressure or sleep apnea or diabetes etc. No 6 month diet and no waiting period:)
  21. I got some samples from Trueprotein.com and I love them! Their shipping is higher than some because they only offer UPS shipping but it's definitely worth it. I got Vanilla Birthday Cake, Dutch chocolate fudge, chocolate peanut butter, bananas and cream, coconut cream pie and chocolate chip cookie dough. Now I'm thinking about what flavors to try next. I love drinking my shakes now:)
  22. I had mine in a hospital. I arrived at 6:30 and left before 11 am:)
  23. I tried them and they do taste good but IMO, they don't have enough protein in them for a Lap Band patient. My other problem with them is they are soy protein. I have thyroid problems and I was told by my doctors to steer clear of soy and use Whey protein instead.
