  1. What do you typically eat? If you have a family what do you typically make for supper at night?
  2. I'm on liquids again for 48 hours since I had my fill yesterday. I'm starving!!
  3. I have the DVD's also but I haven't been able to start them yet.
  4. Well I don't think most 14 year olds are old enough and mature enough to make the changes that need to be made in order for the band to be successful for them. But on the other hand- Have you guys ever watched Too Fat For 15 on Style channel? They are trying to lose hundreds of pounds with no help at all just exercising, restricting calories and counseling. For a 14 year old I'm not sure which would be worse.
  5. Montina's profile says she actually had Lap Band surgery. Jessica's profile also shows she had Lap Band surgery.
  6. I would look around for a new surgeon. There are no after care fees with my surgeon. Everything was covered 100% except for my protein shakes.
  7. My doc told me no liquid calories after I get back on a regular diet. Then yesterday he said no liquid calories EXCEPT that he still wants me drinking 1 to 2 Protein shakes every day. He said the people who eat the most protein are the ones who lose the most weight. He said I need 65 grams of protein a day and even if I get that from my meals it still won't hurt to add more in the form of shakes. What were told?
  8. Okay I'm newly banded so I don't know everything there is to know yet but here are my thoughts on the Lap Band contestant. Did you see how much she was struggling during the challenge? She finished last. If she were exercising all along like she should have been doing then she would have finished quicker. The Band can't and won't do everything for you you still have to put in the effort to exercise and eat right.
  9. Honestly I think it varies from person to person. I just had 3 cc's added today for a total of 4 cc's. I'm hoping it will help at least some. I go back in 4 weeks for another cc.
  10. First off ((HUGS)). A few years ago I lost 50 pounds on Weight Watchers. I was still not at my goal weight but I was keeping it off and then 2 of my close relatives were shot and killed. I gained it all back and then some. Like you I just could not find the motivation to keep going. I highly recommend you seek some counseling. I've been on anti depressants ever since and it took a while to find the perfect one and the perfect dose but I'm much better now. Much more like my old self. My dh said that I was lost for quite a while and he wasn't sure if I was coming back.
  11. IDK. I figure at first until we get good restriction that we'll have to diet. I just don't see any way around it.
  12. Those look good! thanks for posting the link! When I used to do WW I got a lot of great recipes from here: http://greenlitebites.com/
  13. I've only been banded a couple of months but I was told with Lap Band you are expected to lose 100% of your excess weight as long as you do your part. With GBP I was told it's normal to regain 10-15% of the weight b/c the stomach will stretch a little bit.
  14. Diane- Sorry your fill was a bust. Hopefully this week will pass fast and you'll get a good fill.
  15. I'm hoping maybe that other 1 cc will make a difference but it was definitely not what I was expecting!
  16. Well that was discouraging:( September 2nd I had a hysterectomy. My Ob/Gyn's office called my surgeon to verify that my band was empty. The nurse told me and my Ob/Gyn that it was indeed empty. So I go in today for my first fill and the surgeon says he's going to add 3-4 cc's and I'm excited thinking maybe that will be a big change from nothing to 4 cc's but nope. The nurse was wrong. There was already 3 cc's in my band from surgery so he added one more. Now I'm at 4. I'm back on liquids for 2 days and then onto normal foods. I'm hoping that 1 cc will help some b/c I'm starving lately!! Oh and painwise it hurt but only for a second. It wasn't bad at all.
  17. My pre op was just a quick chat with the doctor to ask any last minute questions and then I went to the hospital for blood work, EKG and paperwork. Good Luck!!
  18. Good luck to both of us tomorrow!!
  19. I have a question. A banded friend of mine has lost 50 pounds with another 50-75 to go. She said she has 11 cc's in a 15 cc band and that she had good restriction for a while but now she has much less and she's going back in for another fill. It may wonder a few things. First off does some of the Fluid ever evaporate? I mean if they put in 10 cc and you don't ever get it filled again in 12 months time will it still have 10 cc's in it? Is it possible to feel a band as full as it will get and still not have restriction? I'm just curious. I go for my first fill tomorrow so I really don't know much about it yet.
  20. I've taken Zyrtec daily for years now. It's a small pill and I even took it 1 day post op. It won't hurt anything and it won't make you sleepy.
  21. I didn't have to bring mine. Like you I'm supposed to use it but I don't. I had no problems. My 02 sats stayed around 97.
  22. Finally getting my first fill on Tuesday! I can't wait!
  23. I'm wondering how this works also. I go for my first fill on Tuesday and I'm hoping if I need more I can go back in 4 weeks. I really want to get some restriction and see some progress.
  24. I think I've finally gotten a handle on my gas. Since Monday I've been taking Digestive Advantage Gas Defense Formula. You take one small tablet a day and it's like $7.62 for 32 tablets at Wal Mart. My gas is definitely 90% better now. It came with a money back guarantee so I figured why not try it?
