    I'm here to help...

Laura, Thanks for letting me know my Doc wasn't exaggerating. I am just so surprised that it will take so long. Doc gave me celebrex and the surgeon approved so I took that today. I also met with the traininer in my surgeons office she had me do 5 to 10 reps of all kinds of exercises and we built a workout plan. Unfortunately my leg is now killing me because I did leg exercises. I don't think I am gonna do those. She tried to get me on the treadmill and I insisted my doc said NO. Makes me wonder if she knows what tendonitis is. I am icing it now and will do the arm exercises tomorrow. I got to make sure I keep exercise in my routine. It was so hard to get in the habit. Don't wanna have to fight with myself again. Thanks for all the love and support.
  2. Thank you for checking out my youtube videos.

  3. I know it has been awhile guys. Sorry bout that, I have been posting on youtube under JewelJolyn. Check me out. Well This morning I hit my first 50 pound loss. I have excercised everyday for the past 2 weeks and started the Couch to 5K training. I started it in March but gave up on it quickly. Now that I am setting goals again I want to make the most of my excercise time so I restarted this week. Unfortunately I am having some hip pain so I am off to the doc to have it checked out before I go further. The big reason why I strarted working out again is because I was so close to 50 lbs I wanted to get over that hump. 60 pounds is my halfway there mark so I am gonna keep it up so I can reach 60 at my 6 month mark. I feel awesome. I am no longer taking Provigil to keep me awake. I am no longer napping during the day. I get up at 7am 6 days a week and sleep in on sunday. I feel so confident because I acheived a huge goal of losing 50 pounds. I got an A and two B's in my college course work this last semester. About school, I have completed all my prerequisite coursework for the nursing program and mailed off my application to the program this past week. I am confident in my application that I will be accepted. My grades were really good. I will hear back from the college in the begining of august and will hopefully start the program in Sept. My Pell grant is looking good and my name is in the hat for about 20 different scholarships. I will begin clinicals in Oct. I plan to graduate Dec 2011. I have started back to therapy because I was really battleing with myself over what to eat. I am addicted to carbs and I struggle with them everyday. I am making progress. I also joined a lapband support group through my surgeons office. It is great to have people to talk to face to face and it has really helpped me get the upperhand over my carb addiction. If you haven't checked youtube out for lapband videos I highly recomend it. Look me up (JewelJolyn) and also check out bandedwendy, newtoy4kt, and thesososkinny. They are my favs. Also look up Proofwlsworks on youtube and facebook. It is a great online support group.

So I went to see my doc. Haven't seen him in 4 years because we lived so far away. He was so happy and surprised by my weight loss. He says I have inflamed 2 tendons in my leg. Says there was nothing to prevent it and I need to rest it for 6 weeks! Usually this would make me happy. It is a great excuse to stop excercising but now I actually cried. What 6 weeks. I got goals to reach. He told me that my tendons could break my bone if I don't give it a rest. So I am outta commission. I will have to start my 5k training over after this. I am so dissappointed but I guess it is just a little glitch compared to some other health issues yall have shared. I am gonna have to be more diligent with my eatting plans maybe I can still reach my goal of 60 pounds by july 4th. Sorry to vent. I don't want to give up what I have worked so hard for. Maybe I will call the excercise lady in my surgeons office and see if she can give me some pointers.

    Questions??

I have seen a few ppl talk about this and they end up benifiting from a slight unfill. It makes sense that you are hungry in the afternoon because your on liquids all morning. It takes hard protein to fill your pouch and give you the full signal. If you can't eat just a bit of something solid in the morning you may want to back off your fill level a bit. Slider foods have more calories and you can get more in which in turn prevents you from losing. Don't just tell your doc what you want. Get his advice. You pay alot of money for his time get your moneys worth. You don't have to eat a full breakfast. I eat about half an egg just to get my pouch full. By evening I can eat more. Let us know how it goes. Good luck.

    I'm here to help...

Good morning, My best quality...That has changed since being banded. I use to feel defeated all the time and was so disappointed in myself. Now I am not afraid to set difficult goals and reach for them. Going to school, working as a nurse, losing weight, running a 5k, growing my family, huge goals...baby steps get me there. I feel successful now because I am progressing in the right direction. Before I was just afraid to live and hid in myself. My Dad posted this on FB yesterday "Never let your memories be bigger than your dreams". I was letting some terrible memories hold me back from reaching my dreams. Not anymore. I iced my hip/groin yesterday and took aleve. I felt the aleve burning in my stoma. And the taste of it started working it's way back into my mouth. I took it right after I ate so I am thinking it didn't make it's way through the band before it began working. I don't remember my surgeon saying if it was ok to take or not. I am going to the doc this afternoon to have my leg looked at. I used the stationary bike this morning to prevent shock on it. No pain. Don't feel like it was a great workout though. Only worked my legs and heart but I gotta take care of myself. Have a great day ladies.

Afternoon ladies, Not much going on here. Finished my house work and worked out. I was jogging on the treadmill (trying to build up confidence to run) and I got this pain near my groin area. I have been getting it a little bit when I walk but I couldn't continue my workout. I only had a min left anyway. I am just wondering what is going on. It feels like my leg becomes a little disjointed. If it keeps it up I am gonna have to go to the doc. Have any of you ladies had this? I am wondering if it is weight associated and if it will get better as I trim up. I know my body is not use to all this excercising. I don't want something like this to slow my progress. I like how I feel lately and what I see. Guess I should go call the Doc. Happy Birthday Great.

    I'm here to help...

Good saturday afternoon everyone. Welcome to the group peaches. I am not perfect either but I have made alot of progress thanks to the support I receive in here. Sorry you had a complication but glad to hear you got it fixed. The ladies here help keep me on track. If I do slip I correct it quickly because everyone is rooting for me and holding me accountable. Don't be shy just let us know how we can help. Sorry to hear you lost a good friend and that no one called you. They were some kind of large ducks. They live in the pond behind our apartment. We also have a few geese living there with their babies. They are adorable. Don't know what made me think you were coming to Florida. Sounds like you ended this busy time with a bang. You totally deserve to have some time for yourself after all you have been doing for others. Have fun at Fire Island. I am still doing well with my excercise and also with eatting. I wanna hit my first fifty so bad but my cycle is holding me up. My restriction has loosened up and I feel like now I am in a good place. I still get into the perfectionist midset though. If I slip one time a day I feel like my whole day is ruined. It frustrates me more than it should. I do intend to try some foods while camping but I do want to be prepared to cook my own. I just really don't want to get stuck and end up PBing in front of everyone while they eat. She is planning a spagetti night which I always PB on so I will pass on that. Also pancakes which last I tried was a no go. It is only a few meals so I am sure I can make it work without being a weirdo. Just making sure I have a healthy option or I will use it as an excuse to sugar up. I am good at that.

26 Pre-op!!...getting nervous and mind is wondering...

I love my band and I am sure you will too. It totally change my life and my family's life. I was so tired before I had the band. I had to take a prescription for narcalepsy to keep me awake while driving. I am now 4 months out and no longer need my medicine. I get up at 7 during the week with no problem and I even find the energy to excercise. I no longer take naps during the day. I feel great. I even think I lokk great too which is a great feeling. As far as drinks go I drink propel water, my doc also allows me to drink diet soda. You'll learn all the little tips that help us get through our day. Good luck to you.

    Sexy knickers!

I just did this too. I pulled the new ones out of the package and told hubby these look too small. They fit though and boy was I excited.

    Slow losers lol

I was thinking the same thing. You are doing well. I am down 30 pounds in about 18 weeks and never thought I was losing slow. I got stuck a week here or there with no loss but this is a total life change it won't happen in 45 minutes on the operating table. I have learned alot and still have alot to learn. This is your individual journey make it what you want it to be.
  16. I didn't have a bm until I got to the mushies stage. I wasn't uncomfortable though. I just had pain from the hernia repair. There should be an emergency # you can call to get ahold of your surgeon. Mine gave me a special cell # reserved just for this. Don't be hesitant to call. You hired him and paid him alot of money. I don't want to tell you what to do cause I am not a doctor.

Got my little bit of house work done, Even built a grill today. It was a small one and I was gonna grill burgers for dinner. I didn't realize it needed put together. Ended up eatting taco salad instead. The grill is ready now for burgers tommorrow. While we were outside testing the grill we got a couple visitors. I had been saving some stale bread for them and it ended up being alot of fun for my son. Here are some pics. Jake has a teeball game in the morning then tommorrow night we are going to an opening exhibit at the museum. It is an exhibit about the Chronicles of Narnia. I love those stories. I read all of them in about a week. The children are wearing their PJ's so it sounds like it should be a fun time. Managed to stay busy today and tommorrow should be busy too.

Good afternoon, Feeling much better today.Got to the fitness center again first thing this morning. I tried to run on the treadmill but think I am gonna stick with the elliptical. Until I get in better shape. My legs were burning so fast and I don't have that on the elliptical. I am gonna try some zumba when the workout person at my doc office calls me. I heard from another staffer that she offers it but no one seems to know when. Not much going on today. I have a tad bit of housework but no schoolwork to do. I am backing away from the TV. I have left messages for a few friends to call me so we can plan a day at the beach or in the pool. Hoping to fill this empty time until my son's school lets out for summer vacation. We are going on vacation over July 4th with all of Don's family. We expect some of them to back out of the plans (they just had a baby) but it will still be a busy time. My mil already sent us the menu she intends to cook. It was not band friendly so I am gonna have to take food seperate from everyone else. I was hoping but I can't blame her really for trying to serve the majority. I am glad she let me know what she was planning so I can be prepared. I am the only one who ever helps her cook. So it will be us two cooking for 16 people on a camp stove, lol. I am hoping she will buy one so I can use mine for cooking my fish and stuff. Last time we just used mine but there was only 5 of us. It will definately be an intresting weekend. We are gonna do some motorcycle riding through the mountains again and go tubing on the river. Overall I am excited about the trip. Mrs. Bubba, I hope you are doing ok. Just wanna let you know I am thinking about you.

Welcome back JBFlorida. You are always welcome, even when you are struggling. That is the most important time for me to be here. Glad you have learned more about yourself and your not afraid to admit you slipped. And you aren't scared to face your problem. Zumba sounds like a good idea. Create a new habit to replace the old one kinda thing. I admire how you refuse to give up and keep bouncing back. You deserve to be the person you dream of being. I have missed your humor on here. Hope you stick around.

Phyll, I had the hardest time fiquering mine out too. I have a Sansa Fuse. I have been considering getting and Iphone also but I am pretty much decided to get the Samsung Caliber Smart phone. I wanted to get a smart phone for reaching my 1st 50 lost and my birthday in June. I found a really good deal with that phone. Congrats on the 7 pound loss. If you are coming near Jacksonville Florida on your trip let me know and we can meet up. I don't even mind driving a bit. I need things to keep me busy during my summer vacation. Morning ladies, I have therapy and lapband support group this afternoon. Not feeling well though because of TOM. Plus I know TOM is making these pounds stick. Once he's gone though I know I will drop some more because I have been working hard. I just need 2 more pounds to hit fifty down. I have been this way for the past week. I am feeling great though. Wearing shorts for the first time in 7 years. Excercising daily. Eatting right. I feel like a new woman.

Good evening Ladies, Just checking in. Nothing much going on today. I burned 250 cals on the eliptical today in 30 minutes. That's the highest so far. I was using the treadmill but fiqured out I do better on the elliptical. I am kinda scared to go too fast on the treadmill. Afraid I'll trip. I am scared to run on it. I do wanna run the 5k though so I guess I'll have to get back on it soon. I did the interval training for it on the elliptical today. It's not the same though. It felt alot different. Since I haven't been to school I made up a Excercise playlist on my MP3 player. It is great music to keep me going. I still haven't hit 50 pounds down yet but I know all this hard work will catch up with me. I am getting a bit bored at home. Yesterday About 2 or 3 I found myself on the couch watching divorce court. It was depressing. I gotta fiqure out something to do during the day so I don't tumble down that road again. I went through all my clothes again and no longer have clothes that are too small for me waiting in the closet. The smallest clothes I have fit and everything that was too big is on it's way to good will. I will have to buy clothes the rest of the journey. Good thing good will is alot closer now that we moved. Not spending a ton of money on clothes I am gonna shrink right out of. When I do get to goal, I am gonna get some quality clothes. Have a few beautiful things instead of a bunch of mediocre things. Hubby has lost more weight. He is excercising with me all the time now. That makes it alot easier for me to go excercise. I don't feel like he is sitting waiting for me to finish so we can do something fun. Got my hair cut today. Bought a pair of PJ's. Really just had a good day. Hope ya'll did too. Nite.

Welcome back Great and Octillo. I see I haven't missed too much the past couple days. Been slow going on here. I got my final grades for Micro and Film. Both B's. I am a little disappointed but I think that's what I earned. After doing all the math I have really good odds of getting in the program. We have to earn as many points as possible to get in the program and I have 199.36. Last semester everyone over 196 got in. The cutoff varies depending on how many people apply.I have the application filled out. Just gotta mail it in. I am so excited. I had a great Mother's Day. Went to a tea party with my son at his school. Of course there was not 1 single thing I could eat. But nobody said anything about me not eatting. Jacob sang some songs and gave me a plant that he grew himself. We spent sunday at the zoo with a college friend of mine. Don gave me a Lane Bryant giftcard as a Mother's Day gift. Yesterday I went shopping with it. The first mall I went too the LB had closed so I went to Ashley Stewart. I haven't been shopping in awhile because I have been wearing all the clothes I had saved even though i had out grown them. So I started by trying on a 20, too big. Tried 18's, even they were too big. I ended up in a 16, it fit beautifully. Unfortunately, the stitching was coming out so I didn't get it. I went to another mall and the LB there was having a sale on shorts. I haven't worn shorts in 7 years because my legs looked so fat. Well I got some shorts and a top size 16. I was about to cry as they were checking me out. I look at the clothes and they look too small for me but they actually do fit. I do believe this was my last trip to LB because their clothes will be too big for me next time. What a great gift. I have excercised everyday this past week for over 30 minutes each day. I am so close to reaching under 50 pounds I wanna reach it this week. My goal is to lose half my extra weight by the end of 6 months. That is 12 more pounds by June 30th. I am still on track to reach it I know I can do it if I stay focused on my goal. I would love to get a new bathingsuit before our vaction over July 4th weekend. I don't want to get one though if the one I have now still fits. So I gotta shrink out of it if I want a new one.

Hey Becca, I will be 29 next month and I had my surgery on Jan 4, 2010. Just jump right in and tell us how your doing. Ask any questions you have. The ladies in this group have been such inspiration and support for me. I know it was a tough thing to do. But it will pay off for you more than just the clothes. You guys sound like your gonna rebuild your relationship. I hope all goes well. How exciting to be on the today show. Plus you know people will be calling like crazy to adopt boomer. You are doing such a great thing for boomer and his family to be. Well, I finished my last exam today. I got an A in anatomy and have been on cloud 9 all day. Still waiting for my other grades. Hubby and I excercised together again today. It is nice not being alone in the fitness center. I am so glad he is accepting of the healthy lifestyle I am trying to provide for my family. He does crave soda once in awile but I always ask him to get a flavor I don't like so I won't be tempted. I went to a support group last night. I was a bit nervous but it turned out to be a really small group. Just the four of us and the counselor. One girl was talking alot and didn't make much sense to me. I could be cause she is in the liquid phase. Lack of food can make us do funny things. I might try a different day to see if I can find people close to my age and situation.

My son's school is doing the same thing. I am trying to decide if I am going to go. With the band issues I have been having lately it is a hit or miss on pbing or not. I would be so embarrassed if I didn't get to the bathroom in time. Have fun though. CharleneK, I admire you sticking to your contract. It really seems to keep you accountable though. Coloring my hair today then have therapy and lapband support group this afternoon. Hubby worked out with me today. He has a 26 bmi but feels way overweight. I tried to tell him he is pretty close to a healthy weight but he thinks he should weigh the same as when we got married. We were still kids then. 18 and 19. He is also a little unnerved that we are almost the same weight now. I guess it makes him feel over weight. Oh well, if he is working out he will gain confidence in his weight knowing he is doing his best. Gotta go rinse and study. Have a great healthy day.
