    OA (overeaters anonymous) anyone ?

I did not know there was such a thing as OA! This is very intriguing to me. I will have to see if there are any meetings in my area. I have a band and have strugled off and on over the years. I think I would benefit from it! Thanks for sharing information!

Thinking of getting fill after 2 1/2 years!

I was banded in 2009 and initially did well. I had a slip and another surgery. Then in 2012 I had a serious illness (unrelated to the band) and was completely unfilled. Due to my medical condition, my surgeon did not want to do any fills tilli was off treatment. So I regained all 80lbs I had lost plus another 40lbs. My health has improved and in february of this year he started making adjustments. It took several appts but I finally hit my "sweet spot" in June and have lost 40lbs! It hasn't been too bad. When I first began having fills again it was a little frustrating trying to find that sweet spot but overall, it has gone well. Good luck to you!

How Often Do You Weigh Yourself?

I weigh everyday. For me I find it helpful and useful. It really serves to motivate me and keep me on track. I have found that when I don't check my weight, I tend to not want to track my eating for the day and the next thing I know I have gained weight because I have avoided dealing with the scale. But that's just me and my experience with my weight loss. I only record my weight in my tracker app one a week though.

    Lap Band in 2008

I was banded in 2009. I initially did really well and lost 70lbs. I was feeling pretty good but not yet to my goal then my band slipped. I had it repaired but during surgery it broke so he had to put on a new one. After that, my MD had trouble adjusting my band. I eas either too tight and couldn't eat at all or too loose and ate everything! My weight slowly crept up. Then in 2012 I had a serious illness and I had to have all the fluid removed from my band. I also had to take steroids long term. Between the two I really began to gain weight. Before I knew it, I had regained the 70 lbs I lost plus another 40lbs! I felt very defeated and kind of gave up and because of my mrdical issues (wich had nothing to do with the band) and my stwriod treatment, my MD wanted to hold off adjustments until I was better. Long story short, earlier this year, I began having adjustments an hit my "sweet" spot in June. Since then I have lost 40lbs! Don't be too discouraged, see your doc next week and talk with him/her about your troubles. They can help you get where you need to be. I hope all goes well! Good luck!

    Is this a failure?

Sorry you had to have two surgeries! You are not a failure! Like Missy said, you haven't given up yet! It definitely does take multiple fills for many people to have some restriction. Do not give up, you can do this!

    The Pre-Op Diet

Every doctor is different so you will want to follow what they tell you to do but for me, I did 4 weeks low carb, high protien then 2 weeks full liquid protien shakes. I lost about 15 pounds. It was rough but well worth it. Doc said my liver looked great!

  9. Here is the link for a cream of broccoli Soup that I absolutely adore!!!! The picture on the site does not look all that great but it is a very yummy recipe. Super easy too! http://www.food.com/recipe/best-cream-of-broccoli-soup-42071
  10. You do sound a little too tight. I think you should call the doc in the morning. It could be that you had a little swelling from the fill, especially since it has been so long. As that swelling decreases your intake should be able to increase, which is sounds like it has. Just not sure it has improved enough. You don't want to get dehydrated. I always have swelling for a couple of days after a fill but each day it gets better and I will take ibuprofen to reduce it.
  11. So happy, my brother moved back home after being away for several years. Got to spend time with him today!

    First Post op fill

I would call their office first thing in the morning to find out for sure. Most docs recommend some type of limit before a fill. The last thing you want is for the food you ate before the fill to get stuck. I recommed liquids but check with your doc to be sure.

    I know it's a carb, but corn?

I love corn. I don't seem to have any problems with it. I know some people do, but for me, corn is good!
