  1. Thanks Elvees mommy. i also think that not being able to eat certain foods is part of the band process. I am going back the end of April after the holidays....i think i am ready for my first fill.

Not gaining but i can see that i am not satisfied with what i am eating right now...and getting my bad urges to snack again. i must put a hold on it. Good Luck to you on your journey....it is a great tool and really does work. Could never have lost 50 lbs without it. Chris

  2. Good luck Michelle & Electrawoman: Im just starting out on this journey. I hope I have the guts to continue it

through. I"m getting nervous because I'm getting too much information. For my first consultation I met 3 patients who told me to forget it. I need some honest positive input from you girls when you get through the surgery. Please be honest with your comments. I will pray for both of you. Its so exciting. Wish I was you now. Good Luck to both of you. cat lady

  3. Hi Corspenc: I also am on the fence about the band surgery. Went for my first consultation and got some negative feedback from patients in the office. Does this mean find another dr.???? I don't know. I am also early 60s with high blood pressure. My life is good, work, watch grandkids, happy with marriage, go away alot but I'm not happy being the size I am. Should I go for it? Only I can answer that question. Dont want to live the rest of my good years being fat.....but also dont want to be unable to enjoy socializing, which is with food. Dont want to keep vomiting or spitting up. My question is whether you can live a comfortable lifestyle with the band. I know I have to give up some foods but can you live a "normal" lifestyle. I guess I'm afraid to make the commitment.....but without commitment it wont work. Need to keep researching this before I make my ultimate decision. I must say that the thought of being thinner is very exciting to me. Not too much makes me excited these days. Hope it will be all that I expect. cat lady

  4. Kathy - imaluckydog: Thanks for the support I need it. When did you get banded. How long did it take to get to your comfort zone. Losing and happy is what I also hope for. Just got spooked by hearing so many negatives. Keep up the great work! You are an inspiration to all of us just beginning this journey. Thanks, cat lady

  5. Hi ima lucky dog and toomuchRN: Thanks for answering my questions about the meds to swallow. My blood pressure is under control with 2 pills a day 130/80 aprox. I hope it gets better without the meds if I am lucky enough to lose the weight. I just had my first consultation with dr on friday. He answered many of my concerns but in the waiting room I got some negative input from 3 patients who had the band. One only lost 25 lbs in a year. The other one said she is losing more with a nutritionist than with the band. How could she say that if the band is still in. I/m sure its helping her somewhat. The other one was complaing about vomiting all the time and wanted hers removed. They all told me to try without it. I have tried without it for many years -- up and down. Do you feel like you should not have done it. They have me more concerned then ever!

  6. just getting started on my journey. has anyone had experience with any doctors on long island. have an appt with dr. geiss on nov. 20th. have alot of unanswered questions. can you take medications just as you did before the surgery? do they metabolize differently. i take high blood pressure meds, antibiotics when needed, tylenol pm, when needed -- can you swollow them?

  7. Hi miles: I am thinking the same way. I also am questioning the procedure. I'm scared too. Just made appt for consultation and went to seminar. At seminar they seemed to be selling the band procedure. I'd rather talk to those of you who have had it already. My bmi is at 35. Hope to get approved. Also have high blood pressure --- not proud of it. I need courage! Good luck on Dec. 10th...a lucky day for me -- my 1st grandchild born. I'm sure it will be lucky for you too!

  8. Hi all: I am just begging my journey. My first appt. 11/20 for consult. I also am afraid to make the decision. I guess I'm not ready yet. How does dieting with the band differ from all the others I have tried. Does the band help at all with the willpower. Up to now I have not had any, or I would not be here. Afraid to make the decision. Does life after surgery have alot of discomfort. Especially digestive issues such as vomiting?

So many questions with elective surgery. Chris
