Well, I am now 6 weeks out from my lapband surgery done 12/1/09 and including the 2 week pre op liquid diet, I am officially down 59 lbs on doctors records as of today!!! Needless to say, I am pumped up and determined to stay the course and not falter. I went to the doctor today and chose not to get a fill as I have not been very hungry, I am excercising several times a week, eating properly and weighing each meal. I do not eat anything not approved by my doctor, I don't eat more than I should. I continue to excercise. I focus on protein and vegetables. Very little carbs, low fat, low calorie food. I eat alot of tuna, baked fish, baked chicken, scrambled eggs, veggies, drink lots of water and that is about it. I am going back in two weeks to see if I need a fill yet, but so far I am good. I have another 52 lbs to go and will not get off course. I am glad I have taken this surgical step. It was the boost I needed and the begining to a new life. :cursing:

  4. Well it is now 4 weeks and 1 day since I had my lap band surgery and about 6 1/2 weeks since I started my entire pre op liquid diet and everything. Diet wise and weight loss wise it is going very well. I have been following doctors orders to the tee and not doing anything I am not supposed to be doing. I am physically feeling great, I am down 50 lbs as of this morning. I started at 326 and am currently sitting at 276 lbs. So I feel great about that. Christmas holidays were very tough with all the food, snacks and all. I made it through it without cheating a bit!! It took a lot of will power, let me tell you, but it was worth it and I feel stronger for it in the end. I have to say stress makes it so hard to stay focused on your diet. I am currently having some marital problems with my wife of 12+ years and man it is so hard to stay focused on my diet. I am so down in the dumps and that is a huge trigger for me to just pig out on anything and everything. So that, more than the holidays is really putting me through the ringer. I am determined no matter what the outcome of all that is going on in my personal life that this lapband and my goals are going to have to carry me through these tough times. Some days it is the only thing lately that is positive besides my 3 beautiful girls. I have 66 more lbs to go to reach my goal of 210 lbs. I will get there one way or anther!!!:tt2:

  6. Best of luck to you on your upcoming surgery this Monday. I had mine done on 12/1/09 and am feeling great. I was scared to death going into it as you are even after all the research. It is a scary ordeal for all of us but it is worth it and it is not as bad as you think. I had some pain the day of for a few hours but was up and walking around that evening and walking over a mile a day 4-5 days after surgery. I did not have alot of the bad gas pains alot of people talk about, and was back to work 8 days later. I started my pre op diet on 11/15/09 and am in the pureed/mushy phase now. I go to regular foods on the 30th, yeah!!!! Anyway I am down 47 lbs as of today and feeling fantastic. I follow doctors orders very strictly and walk a couple miles several days a week. You will love the band and your new life. Just stay focused and don't give into temptations, most importantly, keep excercising.

That's fantastic, 100lbs in first 6 months. Alot to be proud of. I just got my band on 12/1/09 and am down 43 lbs since I started preop diet on 11/15/09. My goal was to be down 100lbs by 6/1/10 for the summer. I hope I can get it done as you have. Keep up the great work!!

Hey Darcie, Glad to hear you are doing well. I am excited to get my first fill. It will be sometime mid to late Jan. I hope to feel some restriction then. Until I do, I pretend I do and eat very lite and exactly as the doctor instructed. So far so good. I am feeling strong both body and mind!!

Hello Everyone, Well I am now 19 days post op and feeling great. I started my journey and life change back on 11/15/09 with my pre op liquid diet. I had surgery on 12/1/09 and just went to pureed and mushy food diet on 12/16/09 after having stitches removed and getting ok from doctor. As of today I am 40 lbs lighter and I feel really great! I have stuck to doctors orders religiously and have not faultered. I am walking up to 2 miles several times a week and waiting for clearance to get back in the gym which should come mid Jan. My doctor is very strict and I can't have much right now even on pureed diet but I am good with that. I have 76 more lbs to go and I am knocking off and determined to not let anything stop me!!!

Hey Kassandra, I was banded same day as you. I like your attitude and feel the same way. I am so excited about this entire journey. I am ready to take it on and push it to the limits. I have been on a liquid diet since 11/15 and will be until doctor visit to remove stitches on 12/16. I am following doctors orders to the tee and excercising as much as I can. I was walking two miles a day prior to surgery and have started again yesterday walking 1 mile and today 1.3 miles and building back up daily. I am determined to make this work. I know this whole thing boils down to mind and will power and the band is a guiding tool. You have to use it wisely and correctly and it is a tool like no other, but you hold the key to the whole thing and without your focus it won't work, with it and the sky is the limit. Best of luck to you and keep us posted.
  14. Great job Cheri. I got banded on 12/1/09 and am very excited about the whole thing. I know you are excited about your first fill as well as nervous. I should be getting mine sometime mid Jan. of 2010. I am still on liquids till the 16th when I get my stitches out and then I will have two weeks of mushy foods, which did not initially sound good, but after being on liquids since 11/15, they sound great now, haha. I think about what foods I will be able to eat everyday. I want to do the right thing, eat healthy and eat foods that are band friendly. I have been trying to come up with high protein, low calorie, fat, carb, sugar, etc. It is all a learning process I guess, but from all I can tell it boils down to eating right, eating the right amount and chewing, chewing, chewing your food and then excercising. The band is a tool, we have to use it wisely. Best of luck to you and I hope to see more updates from you in the future.
  15. You will do great tomorrow. I had mine done on the 1st of Dec. One week ago today and all went well. I am already walking a mile a day and could do more if I wanted. Best of luck to you. Keep us posted.
