  1. Sounds like portabella mushroom pizza was not the right thing for you to eat. My 1st ever PB, back 3 years ago was after eating a slice of pizza. Best wishes to you!
  2. It is trail and error. But, personally, if I eat asparagus, broccoli, etc...I eat the spears and no stalks. I stay away from iceberg lettuce and celery. I don't eat steak or pork..I eat chicken with sauce of some sort, otherwise it is too dry. I eat a lot of fish! I can eat toast or hard bread sticks. Best wishes for you, Karen
  3. Hey folks its our 3rd bandiversary month. How is everyone doing? Have you met goal? My own experience is met goal, but maintenance is hard for me! I am unfortunately gaining weight. I know what I need to do, but need to push myself, as has been noted by Jean, to the want power!!I I always said not will power but won't power. I won't eat what I am not supposed to eat. Well, just checking in, and wishing everyone in October 2009 a Happy 3rd Bandiversary. My date is Oct 30, what's yours? Karen
  4. Usually a slip involves not being able to eat/drink without PB. But, since you have had it for 5 years, adn this is a new experience for you, do call you dr ASAP! Best wishes. Karen
  5. Yes Gas-x is fine, use the strips as Soshallbuterfli said! I hope that you feel better. Did they give you a pain med? If they did, and you are just out of surgery in the last day or 2, try the pain med, too! Best wishes, Karen
  6. Absolutely, they are probably the safest thing out there as they melt in your mouth. Hope that you feel better! Karen
  7. Best wishes Floridays, bugs are nasty when you have the band. A slight unfill may be needed. I hope that you are feeling better. Hugs to you! Karen
  8. Never go for the "full" feeling. You should go for satisfied. Full is uncomfortable and will cause pains in your upper chest. Not comfortable. Satisfied comes 1st. Many people get a hick or burp. Mostly you eat your 4 oz of protein and your 1/2 cup veggie and then you are satisfied. don't overeat, it is not what you are looking for! Karen
  9. Have some beef broth, or I like Chinese hot and sour soup. Just have the broth, leave the veggies etc for the disposal. You can survive, we all did. best wishes!! Karen
  10. No, a slip will not allow you to eat more! A slip will cause you to eat less and pb more! Best wishes. Karen
  11. mine has me on clear liquids for the 1st 2 days and full liquids for the next 2. He is, also, very conservative. Glad that you survived,
  12. Looking good, best wishes. Karen
  13. yes, goal is elusive and can be hard to maintain. Usually, your surgeon will adjust your fill as need be. Best wishes. Karen
  14. I agree, we are cheerleaders, usually, don't ask if you are losing too fast, your surgeon is the only one that can advise of that. Great losses, and best wishes. Karen
  15. Liz,thank you for joining us. I agree that many people go into this with there eyes shut. But as Dennis and others have said, many of us have had to go through nutritionists, psychs , and 6 month diets. This is the last resort for most of us. I, like others, have gone through diets for 50 years. I started in high school because I was slightly overweight and never felt "pretty enough". Finally at 61, wearing a tight 22w, I felt called to the lapband surgery. Thanks. I love it, and have also, had to learn to eat small meals, and quit before I think I am done, knowing that the last bite will be too much. I guess the "skinny" people just naturally do that. Maybe someday, you and the rest of us will learn it , too! Best wishes. Karen
  16. No, but just wanted to congratulate you on your weightloss and makeover! Hurrah! Karen
  17. You have the answer, so I am just wishing you a great start to your new life! Karen
  18. The point is not full or hungry, but satisfied. Most of us are usually so used to the hungry or full. Not many are used to satisfied. I think that you are now at "satisfied" feeling. It is different, I guess its what skinny people feel when they stop eating. It takes awhile to learn that. If you don't. however, you will continue to eat until you are nto comfortable, and maybe PB. Try to stop at satisfied! Best wishes, Karen
  19. HEAD HUNGER!!!!You are swollen, you shouldn't need food for a day or 2, just stay hydrated and follow your own surgeon's orders. Mine kept me on clear liquids for the 1st week.
  20. Well, remember you are swollen, so you might stick to liquids, today, at least. It has been 2 1/2 years, so can't say how it was, but I had to stick to clear liquids for 2 and full liquids for 2 days. Best of luck, Karen
  21. You can do it! Best wishes for a great operation an speedy recovery. Karen
  22. My surgeon's office recommends 2 days clear liquids and 2 days full liquids due to swelling after a fill. Perhaps you are too swollen to eat, you might bet oo tight, but this should get you okay 'til Friday. Best wishes, Karen
  23. Thanks and God bless her for standing up for herself, and her husband, too!
  24. Looking good, and I didn't even notice that it said per-op until 2muchfun mentioned it! Karen
