  1. braums has a fat free milk and one cup has 13 grams of protien! it is awsome, yesterday on my preop i just drank the ff milk all day instead of the protien drinks
  2. i have foot problems, so I told them i was having foot surgery.... the plantar facitis cut. my workplace sucked it up, and then i will talk about how much i can exercise now that my feet are fixed and weightloss will be a 'natural' side effect!
  3. i found my own psych that works with bariatric patients. they gave me a list, and they wanted different amounts other than my copay. so I found my own through my ins company, and just paid my copay
  4. oooooohhhhhh! good luck!
  5. whooo looks like the 15th is a busy day in the world of sleeve!!!!!
  6. Do not take any steroids for swelling or steroid shots!!! I had some prednisone, and it bumped my surgery back 6 weeks!!!! Something about affecting healing. I was so upset, had I known I would have dealt with the ear infection on my own!!!!
  7. what about 'eating' sugar free jellos, and sugar free snow cones? these are my plans for when i want to 'eat' on my liquid week. or i love to get a cup of sonic ice and crunch on it.
  8. Whooo! I know I am nervous about it, i am going to ask if I can split my one meal into two small meals throughout the day and hopefully that will help throughout my menstrual week! But one by one we all get through the preop, so if everyone else can do it, so can I!!!!!!!
  9. Ok, well Memorial Day is the last day to eat as I do now. My preop diet starts june 1st. I also stop my birth control and nsaids for my arthritis. Well, whenever I have my menstral cycle, I STARVE. I mean i am hungry all the time. I will work right up to the day of surgery, and I also take college classes throughout the summer. So, I will be starving, in pain, and stressed. I don't necessarily believe in myself to do this 2 week diet fully, the 1st week is 2 low carb slimfast shakes, and one meal, the 2nd week is all shakes and liquids. Worse, a friend of mine using a different surgeon just in formed me she has a MUCH less restrictive diet. Just how mean is that?!? Anyway I am worried about the preop diet. I know i will be having a lot of sugar free Jello and sugar free snocones!!!!!!!!! Looking foward to Memorial Day with hotdogs and watermelon! being sleeved by Dr. Davidson in dallas tx on June 15th 2010!
  10. Mine is June 15th in Dallas with Dr. Davidson!!!!!
  11. Dr. Davidson is doing mine on June 15th ! cool ! I am glad to see others using this surgeon as well. I really like him and his staff.
  12. I know! It will give me time to do many things, first and foremost, lose those 20 pounds! I think it is because prednisone increases your risk for infection, had I known I wouldn't have taken it! But it wasnt just that there are other medicines I would have had to quit 2 and 3 weeks before also. It will be okay so I can also start saving up some money for my copay! Dang, if they had only told me before I told everyone I know!
  13. Thanks. I know it will be fine, but thats what an irrational fear is all about! But anyway doctors office just called to say since I took some prednisone a week ago for an ear infection, I must be rescheduled for six weeks out. Plus to come off some other medications. So now it is June 15th. Man. Scared, then Happy, then defeated all within 48 hours. Oh well.
  14. mine is may 11th in dallas too. mine will be done by davidson at forrest park. where is yours?
  15. Forgot to add I have rheumatoid arthritis, so having to stop some meds beforehand which will also make me stiff in the joints and painful!
  16. Well, I have a date! May 11. I may not be recognized here because basically I'm a lurker. I lap up all the information put on here by others and feel like it has helped a lot. I am having the VSG by Dr. Davidson in Dallas,Tx and my insurance actually approved it! I started attending the 6 months of nutrition classes last November upon hearing the insurance would cover bariatric surgeries at the start of 2010. Well, I just assumed something would go wrong, and that it was far enough in the future, so during the course of nutrition classes ( 6 months) I gained 20 pounds :thumbup1: Well I was totally embarrassed, and yesterday they called me with my date and approval. The nutritionist said the doctor "will not be pleased." So suddenly, my surgery is in 12 days my 2 week preop diet starts! I have a stressful job, and when I get hungry I really get cranky and that's at customers too! Let alone the other employees. I am worried about the hunger induced crankyness / meanness. My preop is week one 2 Meal Replacement shakes and one meal, and 2nd week all shakes and liquids. I am also quite a worrier of actual surgery. I have never been put under anesthisia. I care for my sister, 20 coming home from college the weekend before surgery, father is non existlent, and my mother died during heart surgery almost 6 years ago(when I took my sister in). Me and my sister is what is left, though I have and aunt, uncle, and grandfather and a scattering of good friends, somehow, its just a situation in which you want your parents which I now really realize how much I miss and want. Just adds to all the vulnerable emotional distress I am in. Just crazy this all is. And it is so fast! Sorry its so long, sometimes it helps to put feelings into words.
  17. I work in retail. eight hours a day average. on my feet walking, bending leaning, etc. for those who have had the surgery and work retail how long were you out? also how long after before you drove by yourself (without pain meds of course) ? thanks
