    pre and post workout foods

Well, I joined a gym and this morning had a session with a personal trainer. I woke up, ate a string cheese (as I don't eat much first thing in the mornings), and took off for the gym. He had me warm up on the treadmill for about 5 minutes, then we moved to the circuit machines (?) i think, where there were 4 machines for the upper body/ arms, and 4 machines for the lower body/ legs. did each machine 4 different times with attempting 10 reps on each. Finished by a good pace on the treadmill for 10 minutes. When I was done I was absolutely famished! I haven't exercised in years, and this was the first time I have done the whole gym experience, doesn't seem too bad other than I am bored out of my mind while on the treadmill. I can't stand it. My question for all you who are exercising, or gyming it, what do you eat before and after? I will email my nutritionist, however I wanted everyones input here. Thanks.

    Have 100+ lbs to loose?

Hey texashopeful! I am in mesquite and 29, and I had surgery on June 15, 2010! i started my preop at 287, at 265 on surgery date, and at almost 7 weeks out about 243. It seems like its coming off slow compared to some others, however Just this week I was able to put on a 1x top and a size 20 jeans! It was quite exciting, i called and told everyone I know. at this point I would like to lose another 100 pounds, because I have curves, and honestly cant see myself at 120. Maybe when I am closer I will change my mind huh? good luck to all

Do I Tell My Current Surgeon?

It seems odd they would require a higher bmi for sleeve than bypass. I would think it would be the other way around, oh well.

Question for Dr Davidson patients - dallas tx

Thanks, I am seem to have a low pain tolerance. I had surgery one week ago and yesterday was the only day I didn't take pain meds. And it was still hurting a little. When I went to surgery I read all these posts, ( or maybe these are the ones I wanted to believe heehee) where all these people had little to no pain after surgery and I was in extreme pain!!!!! They kept asking me pain level 1- 10 and wanted to say 10 all the time because it WAS the worst pain I had ever felt. (No childbirth, first surgery, etc) so maybe i am just a weenie. I will take some tylenol with me and not look when they take them out, I wont even look at needles when they give me a shot! Thanks gang!

    Ummm......

Surgery is tomorrow at 9am, have to be at the hospital by 7, feeling all kinds of emotions, some i don't even know what they are. First surgery ever for me, my best friend had it done last November, and I called her all through her preop to check on her and stayed with her when she came home, but now that it's my turn, I don't hear from her. She hasn't called me at all. I had to call and make sure she is coming to the surgery. But even still I didn't want to leave my little sister out there by herself. Her anxiety will be over the top tomorrow. Because that is all who is coming my friend and my sister. Feel a little upset that aunt won't come, grandfather cant drive himself, roomie wont come, other friends cant come. I've known this date for over a month. But no one thinks its important enough to come. But anyway sister is paranoid and is convinced I will die. I tell her no it is fine, but sometimes she gets me upset too! aaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhh. It's just crazy and I don't know anymore.

    Ummm......

Im alive! whew did not loose my emotions till my sis hugged me as they wheeled me awasy. i burped ALL through recovery, and ended up with no gas pain, whew, no drain, whew.... have staples though. ewww. insicion pain that is my problem but if thats all i will take it. it was such a short surgery my people in the waiting room thought something was wrong when they were called. loking for some pain med now that i can take that wont knock me out so hard. thanks for all the support and ope i didnt whine too much because i am a whiner. by he way it is quite difficult to type with a pulse ox taped down to your finger.......

    Bcbs il

i work at a walgreens, and had my seminar last oct during open enrollment. at the seminar they said united healthcare was starting to pay for the sleeve. So I ran home and researched our ins options and bcbs il said the sleeve was investigational and uhealth would pay for it so I switched. And so, they are operating tomorrow! call and check, i know walgreens tried to say both our ins options were the same benefits wise- but they are not! they are supposed to be equal, call bcbs and tell them you will switch in open enrollment for next year and tell all you know that they provide less benefits than the other! maybe they will change their mind! doubtful, but you never know!
  25. i thought i would be starving but after the first day, i didnt starve as i thought it would. it was more in my head, however the day before surgery (today) it sure growled! the 3 low carb slim fasts and the fat free milk made it quite bearable. also ate an entire box of sugar free popsicles!
