    Peer pressure

tell them to mind their own damn business.... tell them until they have walk in your shoes, they need to shut the hell up. This is NOT about them, this is about you and ONLY you..... When they start talking crap... look at them and say, i didn't ask for your permission and until i do, i would ask that you keep your opinion to yourself. You've got two types of unsupportive people..... The "Normal" size people. These are the ones that have never had a weight problem. Can eat anything and never gain weight. these are also the ones that say.... Just try to diet and exercise. Well if it were that easy, everyone would be "normal". But wait... There day is coming... one day their metabolism will start to slow and Chump... karma takes a bite out of their Butts. They tell you that .... you need to lose weight for your health... (insert winey voice) "i want you to be healthy"... but in reality, they don't. They want you to stay fat, they want to be the "skinny" person in the group.... If you lose weight you become competition too them... They sit in front of you with their plate of cheese fries covered with brown gravy and smile... SOB's... in my mind i'm thinking.... I hope you choke on that fry... Yes i do miss fries...can you tell... lol "the fat friend".... These are the people you hang out with that are also Fat. They for damn sure don't want you too lose weight.... who will they be fat with? who will go out to eat with them? Lets' face facts.... We (fat people) run in herds... lol. Why? misery loves company. If i'm going to be fat, then so are the people i hang with.... If you lose weight, then you are betraying the friendship. They will call you up and say.... Hey, lets go to dinner... lets go get Ice cream... You have done so good with your weight loss .. YOU DESERVE A TREAT.... that's how they get you to stay fat with them.... beware of these people. I found my most supportive person.. was my brother. Not my husband, not my friends, not co-workers.... So find that person that encourages you to be a better person. One one or two that say... lets go to the gym, not.. lets get ice cream... the person that say, You are doing a great job... not the person that says.... How much more weight do you intend to lose, cuz your looking too skinny.... I know i'm rambling .... But remember in the end.... This is your choice, your life and you are the only person responsible for you.... not anyone else... They are not going to do your dieing for you..... You have all of us here and we are here for you...

  8. Ok, so I just copied the nutritional guidelines that were given to me before i had my surgery 3 years ago. Please do not take this as the "gospel". This is only what my doctor and Nutritionist gave me. I have had a few people ask, so i'm posting. There is some pretty good advice. Happy losing

    Gallbladder and lapband surgeries

The band itself does not cause gb disease weight loss caused by the band does. This is why the fatter you r the higher the chances. Because most of us have dieted on and off for years. One fad diet or another weight loss and gain up and down. This is what causes Gb disease. Every patient is different and Gb removal effects every one differently. My recovery was quick as I was back at work in 3 days. But I think we got off the question which I think was how long too wait before having lb after Gb surg. I think that's up to the Individual person how well you heal and your doctor. So good luck buckeye girl

    Advice

well i'm going to assume you are a fellow Louisianian. Welcome.... WLS is a very big step, but i have read your post and think you are on your way to making the right choice. I chose the LB because it has less complication and the ability to have it removed if i so choose. Although LB sometimes takes a little longer for people to lose weight, i think it's the best way. LB has a higher success rate in the long run. It does have it's down falls.... you can slip your band, develop leaks and infections..... But all surg. have problems. GB... you will lose weight and it will come off fast, has a higher death rate, and lots more people gain the weight back from GB. I can only say from experience .. i have 4 friends that have had the GB and two of them have gained it all back, one is on her way to gaining it all back and the other is still going strong and doing great. Sleeve... I have two friends that had the sleeve done... one lost over 100lbs , but recently gained about 30lbs back. The other lost only about 50lbs. LB... most of the people i know that have had LB has lost great and has been able to keep it off. Although my Sister in law did lose about 30lbs in the beginning, stopped going to get fills and about 4 mts ago had the band removed and had the GB done. He has done great so far... so proud of her. My cousin is the same way... never lost a single pound... but it has nothing to do with the band and everything to do with her not wanting to make life time choices. Watching everything you eat and learning what works and does not work for you. How to eat... chewing until your jaw hurts.... learning to not eat and drink at the same time. Exercising... i a HUGE part of weight loss success. At least i think so. I wish you luck in your future...
  14. new profile pic..... you look great...

    Gallbladder and lapband surgeries

Ok, so i had my GB removed years before my LB. I have to still agree with Mis73. I ate and still do eat: Dairy Products Especially cheese Peanut Butter Red meat Raw Vegetables (i don't eat these because i don't like them. and now because of the band) Caffeine Alcohol I removed the fried and high fat, because those are correct. I also had trouble in the beginning with eggs & corn. Each person is different. I have a friend that still... 10+ years later still has to take a power every day or she will have diarrhea. some doctors will remove the GB at time of LB surg. due to the weight loss, most people will develop GB problems. But, the LB it self does not cause GB problems....

    Cute, cheap bathing suits?

ok, so i lost nearly nothing in the breast... so i still have to buy 36G top but now i get to buy a size 8 bottom... So i started looking on line and found this company that lets you buy separates and by the Bra Size. Of course they are more than Walmart (aka the devil's workshop)... but i couldn't be happier with what i got. Yes they are in the UK, but i ordered on a Monday and got them the following Tuesday...reg shipping. Later i order a couple bras, but i didn't read that they had padding and got them in and they were too small. I sent them back and they sent me the purchase price back. Of course i had to pay for shipping.... but no hassle at all. http://www.belle-lingerie.co.uk

    Breast Lift & Arm Lift

Kirsten... i was going to use my care credit to get my TT, but when i saw the interest rate... i almost back out. So i went to my bank and was going to get a personal loan, but was surprised to be able to get a 0% interest Chase Slate card. I put everything on it and now i pay that each month instead of the care credit. Just a suggestion. I glad that my arms were ok, i really need a breast reduction and lift. If i would have know how Painless my TT was, i would have done both at the same time.

Question for those who been banded for awhile...

my doctor says no straws or gum. straws because of the air like a few others have said. gum because if you swallow it, it can cause a stick and the only way to un stick gum is by an unfill. My friend and mentor Paula had this happen too her.

    belly button infected????

call your doctor and document everything with pictures. I had one of my corners pop open. this was my fault for doing too much too fast. But i text my doctor a picture of what was going on (yes he gave me his cell). He was at his son's game and texted me back that it look ok, but just in case he called in antibiotics and had me go in on the Monday. It started out as a small hole and got bigger... but we let it heal from the inside out... and it's fine now.

    Going to the Jim

Rosie, You should give golf a chance. I hated golf, but then i married a "golfer". Not just your average golfer... and really good one. He played in the US Mid Amateur a few years back... any-whozie... I would go with him and ride in the cart. Then one day he bought me a set of clubs... It was so much fun. Of course i could NEVER beat him... very few in our town can... but it's great exercise and if you walk instead of ride... OMG you will feel it in the morning. Watching someone play golf is like watching someone fish... not any fun unless you do it too.
  24. BayougirlMrsS

Yeah, my regrets are gone, along with the nausea.
