need more information... were you denied? I had United Health care and these are the test i had done: Cardiogram, bar-am swallow, i saw a nutritionist, and nurse and a phyc. eval. I'm 5'2.5" my start weight was 223lbs..... no other health issues. Just over weight. Approved on the first letter. My dr. compiled all the test results and sent it in all at one time. Testing started in mid Aug. 2009 and i was approved Oct. 2009. Banded 11/10/09.... Current weight: 145lbs I say get with your dr. and push push push...... keep on them. Let them know about UHC's plan... maybe they can hurry it along. Good luck

    buffet bars

Like someone else, my dr. gave me a temp card and i then got one in the mail. A lot of restaurants do honor the card.... some do not. Most will allow you to order off the the kids menu, but hardly any will allow me to eat off the buffet with out paying full price. I just order off the menu is i can and if not... i don't go there anymore. My local Golden Corral won't honor it. I think i will write the main office about that.... humm Anyway, buffets are what got all of us to the state we are/were in.... so no more buffets for me.
  15. omg... i just realized your from Louisiana.... me too. I live in Houma.

  16. Maddy, Congratulations on your WLS. Hope everything goes well. Post some update so we can follow along with your journey to the brand new you..... so Good luck...

I have a 17 y/o niece and i so wish she could have this done. I feel she is or was in the same boat.. very tall and over weight. I could not imagine the torment you all must have gone through..

  17. NYdad..... this is just my personal opinion, but, not a good idea to get all that at once. I go on the chat site and for the most part people who have had huge fills at once... normally have to get an Unfill not long after. Filling the band slowly so your stomach, body and mind have time to adjust. I'm almost two years out and i too at firs wanted to hurry up and be thin, but my dr. explained to me that if i want the best results in the long run.... it's better to go at it slow......You want to be the tortoise and NOT the hare.. banded 11/10/09..... start weight 223, height 5'2".............now 146.......14cc band with 10.9 cc in it..... but it took 7 fills to get to that. Best of luck.....
  18. hey... how is my fellow bander of 11/10/09... can you be leave it's almost two years?... how are things going?

    Here I go...

Brendac40, I ate sugar free jello and puddin, lots of soup including Applebees cream of brocc., drank my protein with blended fruit (banana, berry, no apples or oranges ) and lost 15lbs. before surgery. I don't understand why people tell other NOT TO DO THE DIET.... if over 95% of the doctors are telling there patients, it must be important. You have to ask your self what kind of outcome do you want from this surgery.. Do you want to start off good are start by already cheating and trying to get around it? Are do what the doctors say and have success? I would be lying if i said i didn't cheat, I did, i ate a couple chips one day. But other than that, i stuck to the diet. It was hard, but you have to fellow the diet after surgery anyway, so get use to it...... You can do this, if i could... anybody can. Lapband is not easy. I wish you all the success in the world. Good luck The purpose of a pre-surgery diet is to: Reduce body fat around the stomach and liver, as well as shrink the liver itself. If the liver is too large, the surgery may have to be postponed. Improve surgical outcomes and recovery. By reducing fatty triglycerides from around the liver and spleen, it can reduce potential surgical bleeding. Increase protein intake, which will help preserve and protect muscle tissue. The pre-surgery diet will also prepare Lap-Band patients for the post-op diet and increase the rate of weight loss following surgery.
  24. So that was my question.... how did you get approved with out the surgeon? Went to the seminar in July, first dr. appt in Aug, did all my other dr. visits..... cardiovascular, sleep study, Dietitian , psych eval., etc.... then went back to my surgeon he compiled all the info and results from all the test and sent to insurance for approval. I was fortunate that my insurance approved me first time out. I could be wrong, but i would think the approval is to see the surgeon. Anyway, from seminar to surg. day.... four months. Banded 11/10/09 i would also encourage you to do plenty of research on the band. All the good and the bad.... it's a commitment not a lot of people can deal with, physically and emotionally..... Good luck .....
  25. listing to the radio the other night and thought of you....... Fatboy Slim... funk soul brother came on.......lol
