  1. Happy 34th Birthday saranoh!

  2. 2 years has passed since you registered at LapBandTalk! Happy 2nd Anniversary saranoh!

  3. Personally I don't think there is anything wrong with people being a little impatient for the band to start "doing" something for them. Not that they don't ALSO have to do the work to make the band work, but you act like it's crazy for people to expect the band to help them and be a little antsy for it when some have waited months and even years for this. Why the HECK would anyone get it if it wasn't supposed to make a difference? How condescending.
  4. I wasn't numbed for mine. It definitely hurt more than I expected, BUT it was QUICK!
  5. Jessica, hey there :frown: Just wanted to say that I still think your overall weight loss for 8 weeks is fantastic! But I can also relate to your feelings - oh how I can relate! I am 10 pounds down, a little over 4 weeks out - and STUCK - which sounds crazy..but I lost those first 10 pounds in like the first 10 days. For about 3 weeks, I've lost nothing, not one ounce - and my clothes are not one bit looser - and I'm logging every single bite I eat on sparkpeople and eating between 1000 and 1200 cal/day. I haven't started exercising much yet, and I know that would help, but I have a 2 year old, work full time, go to school full time, and a husband who works weird hours - I know I have to MAKE time somehow, but there are times when it literally feels impossible. Anyways, fact of the matter is, exercise or no exercise, a 250 pound person should be losing weight at a decent clip eating 1000-1200 calories a day, and I'm not, so it is frustrating. I am hoping that my body is still adjusting to those 10 pounds that came off quickly in the beginning, but I also know that I am an extremely slow loser based on other weight loss attempts I've tried. It's just tough considering I have no restriction yet (I can even eat bread exactly the same way I did before with not one bit of trouble) and am in "bandster hell" and to still be doing pretty well, calorie-wise, and not losing. I'm still hopeful though that it will start to come off faster soon. It has to - or I'm just a freak of nature.
  6. You think your weight loss is slow? Then I hope I have "slow" weight loss, too! ha ha! Just kidding...but really, you have lost 40 lbs since August, and only banded for 2 months... I don't think that's slow at all, especially since you started at a lower weight than many people here. You're doing great.
  7. What is your weight right now - the 228 in your siggie? Girl that is GREAT!!! Almost 20 pounds in 5 weeks. That is amazing. Could you have done that without the band? You are losing at a great rate. I hope that I am down 20 lbs from my surgery date at my 5 week appointment
  8. Just stop by to see how you are doing?

Teresa (bounser), So glad you are feeling better! That must have been a scary experience. Here is the crazy thing - we were banded on the same day by the same surgeon :willy_nilly: What time was yours? Mine was scheduled for 8:45 but ended up being around 10:15 if I'm remembering correctly. What if we were right after one another....

    December Bandsters 2009

Hi All! I thought I posted this earlier this morning, but I came back and couldn't find it! ha! There are a couple of other December threads though, maybe it's in there - so if you see this twice, please forgive me :rolleyes2: I was banded yesterday, December 11, and wanted to share a little bit about my experience since reading those of others' helped me quite a bit! The surgery itself went great, no complications that I am aware of - yahoo! I did have a strange reaction to the anesthesia though - when I first started to wake up, I felt really panicky and like I wanted to rip all the "stuff" they had me hooked up to off and run the heck out of there! As I slowly became more aware, that feeling subsided, but it took about 2 hours before I felt more calm. I really wasn't expecting that, but the nurses said it does happen as a result of anesthesia on occasion. The pain, from the very beginning, has been very manageable. I didn't take any pain meds at the hospital other than what they gave me right after surgery via IV, but I did need some last night as it did get stronger. Like I said though, it has never been excruciating, and this morning I was able to get up and walk around quite a bit which helped with the pain immensely! I tried walking yesterday and last night, but every time I got up I was hit with a wave of nausea so I didn't really do much but sit or lay in bed yesterday. The nausea is basically gone today though which is a huge relief. So far I have not had any real gas pains - more just like some pressure which at times has been a little uncomfortable but not to the extent at which I've read most people have. I guess that could still happen, though. All in all I feel pretty darn good for the day after surgery. I wish everyone who has yet to be banded (and those recovering, too!) the best of luck!

    December Delights 2009

Hi All, I was banded yesterday, Dec. 11 and just wanted to share my experience like those of you before me did - it really helped me, so I thought I'd try to pass that along.. :rolleyes2: The surgery itself went great from what they tell me, no complications. I did have a strange effect from the anesthesia - as I was waking up I felt almost panicky, like I wanted to rip everything they had "hooked up" to me and run out of the hospital! I was jittery and feeling like i wanted to jump out of my skin, but at the same time extremely groggy. Never experienced anything quite like that before, but the nurses tell me that it does happen sometimes. As I woke up, that feeling subsided, but it took about 2 hours before I was feeling normal. I had very little pain at first and didn't take anything until I got home - it definitely got worse over the evening yesterday, but this morning it actually feels a little better. I don't really have much gas pain right now, but I do feel pressure that is a little uncomfortable, but nothing unmanageable. I had a hard time with the walking yesterday, because as soon as I stood up I was hit with a strong wave of nausea and felt like I might die! lol! As long as I was sitting or laying down, I had none, so getting up was a challenge. That has definitely subsided today as well so I'm hoping to get up more. Good luck to everyone being banded later this month. You can do it :w00t:
  13. Hey sara I'm being band same day as you. good luck I will be thing about you. Teresa

  14. Jessica, I am stalking you! I emailed you because I'm getting banded with Dr. Enochs next Friday, so I'm very interested in your experience so far :w00t: Anyways, I was just wondering if you told them about the sandwich? Seems to me that like the pp said, being able to eat a whole sandwich with no trouble would be the perfect criteria for needing a fill. I don't see what the weight has to do with it.
  15. Linda, I actually don't have a pre-op diet - I know, it's strange, but my surgeon doesn't require one (except for the 24 hours before surgery). They did tell me, though, that if I gain a bunch of weight before the surgery then it might be cancelled, so I'm trying to really cut back and hopefully lose weight beforehand anyways. I had my final pre-op this morning - we're almost there!
