  1. Okay so I just heard back from my surgeon and I have to go to my PCP one more time and she has to write a letter stating my blood pressure would not be controlled if I were to come off of the medication. I go see her tomorrow so keep your fingers crossed. This journey has been a long and trying one but it will all be worth it once it is approved.
  2. My surgeon is having a peer to peer review today with Cigna. I have done everything they require and so now I am hoping that my doctor can get me an approval today. From what the insurance coordinator told me we shod have an answer today. It's so frustrating because I do have a comorbidity and its high blood pressure with me being on meds for it. I will keep you informed once I hear something. To all that that have Cigna good luck. It's tough.
  3. Thank you! I going to call my surgeon, PCP and my cardiologist tomorrow to see if they can do the reviews. I thought I was almost at the finish line and they come and kick me back. I will not give up just keep pushing.
  4. I have so many different feelings built up inside me I just want to cry. Cigna told me it was because of my bmi which is 37.5. But with Cigna it states they will approve based on a bmi between 35-39.9 with one comorbidity or more and I have high blood pressure as well as a heart condition. You would think they would want to help me. Right? Now they are saying my doctor needs to request a peer to peer review. Has anyone else experienced this and what is the normal outcome and length of time? Thank you all for being there and listening to me vent. I appreciate it.
  5. So, my forms were faxed to Cigna yesterday for approval. The coordinator in my surgeons office stated it would talk upwards of a couple weeks to hear anything back. Not sure what to think...a little scared because I do not want to be denied and I am anxious as well to get the journey started. I had to go through three months of appointments with PCP, nutritionist, and psychologist. I guess what I am wondering is what is the normal length of time that insurance should make decision before I start worrying? Thanks for your advice.
  6. Good luck! Hope all goes well.
  7. My psych evaluation was about 150 questions all worded a little different and then I went in and talked with the doctor for about 30 minutes answering the same questions that I just did on paper. I would get a second opinion and not to give up. Keep trying.
  8. I tried the unjury chocolate splendor this morning and by itself it was okay and tolerable but then I Added a tablespoon of unsweetened cocoa powder from trader joes And it was pretty good. Tomorrow I am going to try the vanilla and will let you know my thoughts. :-)
  9. Tmf-- I currently am on a supervised diet through my doctor for three months. She just wants me to try and be accountable for everything that I eat and drink. So she just wants me to start eating better and stay away from the bad foods.
  10. Thank you for your reply. That's the info I needed. What exactly did you do to get yourself off the coke kick. I think that might be my biggest hurdle.
  11. I went to my surgeon at the end of April and he informed me that I was going to need to jump through some hoops for insurance purposes. I made all of my appt and today was the first day of my supervised diet. My dr gave me a weekly food sheet so I can write down everything I consume. For my first month she wants me to try to cut down on the amount of iced tea and soda that I consume which I feel is going to be hard but for the end result I am willing to do it. So today so far I have drank a half of a coke zero. Yuck! I have also drank almost 2100 milliliters of water. I wasn't expecting to have to start this so soon. Are there any diet sodas that anyone can recommend that doesn't taste diet? Also, just wondering what kind of snack food that would be considered healthy? When I eat I haven't been thinking healthy because I am so busy but now I have to make the time to be healthy. Thank you all for your support.
  12. I am currently on my 3 month supervised diet and I am hopeing to have surgery sometime in July or August. I live in Henrico and will be having it at st. Mary's.
  13. Wow! You look great. I can not wait till I get a surgery date. I am currently on my 3 month supervised diet. Also, love the dress! Where did you get it at? Must have. :-)
  14. Awesome congrats. I am new to this process as well. Just went to surgeon today and was told I will have a three month waiting period per my ins. I have gotten all of my other appts on the calendar. I guess now I am just playing the waiting game.
