Can someone analyze what I'm eating pls?

Tennessee, look for the BodyTech Protein pudding at Vitamin Shoppe. That's what I'm planning to use post-op. The Ductch chocolate flavor is sweet, so I make it with 3 oz Water and 3 oz unsweeted soymilk which cuts the sweet just fine. What about putting your protein powder into Fage zero greek yogurt. Only 8 carbs per cup an you're only eating 1/4 to 1/2 cup at a time. 20 grams of protein per cup as well so the combo of yogurt and protein powder would be a big hit of protein. I've also made SF Jello using Isopure for the two cups of liquid. The entire body is 160 calories, 40 protein so four cups of jello would each be 50 calories and 10 protein. As you can see, I'm testing things pre-op to see what might work post-op. But heck, everyone says taste-buds change so who knows what the reality will be. Good luck, you're doing great and everyone is giving you great ideas for getting in your protein early out without too many carbs.
  3. YaY Margo! I'll be two days behind you, but having my Sleeve done in California. We can compare notes afterwards. I'm so excited for you!
  4. I just want to give all of you new sleevers a big big hug! Virtual of course so no pain involved. I can't wait to join you all on the Loser's Bench!
  5. Hello Everyone! Wishing you all a really fun weekend! John, I just email Dr. Park because Dr. Baggs is still away. She wrote back and said that now Dr. Fisher is assisting. I have now made my rounds through every WLSurgeon at Kaiser. I wonder which of us will get to go first? Did you say Dr. Baggs is assisting on yours?

    Favorite protein?

    Thanks for the response Tiffy!
  7. Yuck on the unflavored unjury in hot cocoa. I too just don't like how it tastes and also how I feel afterwards.

    Favorite protein?

Tiffy, did you try the Rich chocolate flavor of the Optimum Protein? I know you like Milk Chocolate best, but I prefer the richer chocolate flavor. I don't really want to buy a tub to find that I don't like it. Anyone taste the Rich Chocolate??

    Protein-laced HOT Tea!

Tracy, great advice. I have my stash of Protein powders. I'm planning to add it to everything I eat and drink. For the full liquid stage, I have BodyTech protein pudding. High protein in only 5 oz and I add it to unflavored organic soymilk with only 3 carbs for 8 oz. Kaiser uses what they think is a great food plan, but I do see the weakness in lack of sufficient protein. I need to be on my feet and back to work quickly and know that more protein will help me there.

    Buffet??

Thin, thanks for the first laugh of the morning. Did you happen to see the Wanda Sykes - I'ma Be Me special on HBO? There's one part that is seriously to die laughing when she talks about her stomach Ester. EsterRoll. I think I have to keep it on my TiVo forever so that I can watch that one bit if I need to laugh. I'm a gonna name my new tummy Ester unless something else strikes me because Ester will keep me entertained forever!
  11. I think I may be one of the only ones that didn't like the unjury chicken Soup. I tried it and felt really strange an hour later. I felt full in a weird way, like it wanted to come back up and I was a little nauseated. I decided against purchasing it because it's very high in sodium and I figured I wouldn't want something making me thirsty when I couldn't get in enough Water. I'm one of those very sensitive to sodium. Maybe that's why I felt weird? People say that high sodium is a way to keep us full longer. If we look at packaged diet foods, they're all pretty high in sodium. (frozen Entrees etc) I'm going to try the Unjury unflavored in hot cocoa this morning. I did purchase a container of the unflavored when getting the sample pack. I'll let you know how that tastes.

    Buffet??

Hi MWG, I'm not the language pro in my house. My son speaks seven languages so it's a lot of fun to travel with him. I used Pimsleur for Japanese and also use it to brush up on my Spanish. Travel is definitely my passion. After college, my son taught school in Thailand, then S. Korea so we traveled a lot in Asia those couple of years. I feel done with Asia and ready to see more of Eastern Europe. Last summer we did Russia. In Asia, Japan remains my favorite, though the people in Cambodia were amazing. I hope you get to see China one day and yes, I'd been doing Tai Chi with a teacher from China and wanted to go experience it first hand. I stopped doing it when I fractured my ankle in 2007 and I'm really looking forward to getting back into it post-op. I can only imagine how much more fun things will be weighing 100 pounds less!
  13. Hey everyone, thanks so much for the MoM stories. I appreciate each of them. I'm hanging with an auditor, driving him around early morning. Someone is supposed to take over my job for the afternoon so I can come home early and work from home. I was just curious incase something happens with my standin person. John, even if we can't be roomies, we can walk the halls together. Tamra, you did so much better today. Bravo! Tina, you're sounding much happier with your process. That's terrific. I had a 6" subway veggie last night, hold the cheese, toast the heck out of the bread and scoop all the insides of the bread out. Last hurrah at Subway for me. I won't be having those post-op. Everyone is sounding terrific. I'm overjoyed to read all the happy posts. I'm feeling better today. I actually spent the day in my office and they didn't throw me out. Hardly coughing now. I'll work from home tomorrow and lay low all weekend so nobody can get me sick again. I'm not risking this for anything! I've been living on protein. Plain organic hamburgers, pork chops and chicken. I figure it's going to be awhile before those are back in my repetoire again. Mix in a little veggies and I'm good to go. I read about soup. Don't remember who posted. I think at our last meeting we were told, no soup after full liquid stage unless it's to puree food during that stage. After that the soup liquid is considered exactly that.. .liquid and you have to wait to eat the broth later. I didn't expect that. One my friends says she misses eating soup now that she's RNY post-op. I think I'll eat soup this weekend! :scared2:
  14. Clock!! I was wondering what happened to you. I'm so happy to read that you're home! Please keep a close eye on how you're feeling and let us know how you're doing.

    Stalls

Snow, thanks for the great post.
  16. I'm glad you're starting to feel better Firefly. Way to go taking naps and walking in the sunshine!
  17. Pumpkin, YAY on being Sleeved. You're on the other side of it. I'm sorry this was more difficult than a C-Section for you. I've not had one, but I did have my gallbladder removed in November and I'm hoping this isn't too much worse. But from what everyone says, it will get better. I hope you start to feel good soon.
  18. Kai, I'm glad you heard from the doctor. It sounds like he gave you great advice, and more important, peace of mind. Now about that... sounding like a downer... that's what support is all about. Trying to make each other feel better when times are tough, and celebrating together when things are great. Better to come here and ask for advice than worry in your head.

    Buffet??

Hey MWG, are you going to China? I went because I wanted to hike the Great Wall. Even at 100 pounds overweight, it was one of the best days of my life. My son and I just couldn't believe how gorgeous it was. We hated the food in Bejing until we found the Embassy district and a good Italian restaurant. Chinese food in China isn't what it is here in the USA. I just wanted to go to the Great Wall and do Tai Chi in the park with the seniors. I didn't learn any Chinese before I went. I didn't need to speak to communicate with the elders. I found it much easier to learn Japanese before going to Japan.
  20. This is definitely my favorite post of the day. I love love love reading what every one of you had to say. I do ok with hunger while eating low carb, but I've always eventually gone off it, only to start craving again. The thought that this time, I won't be going off it..... WOW!!! Thank you all for making me so happy tonight!
  21. I'm counting on that unflavored protein not grossing me out post-op.
  22. Coco, I'm so happy to read that you got your color back and you're up and about. Big Question - as many responses as possible. Day before surgery - MoM. 1. How long did it take the stuff to "work"? 2. Did you stay home that day? 3. Could you have been at work that day? 4. Could you have been in your car driving around all afternoon? I'm trying to figure out my work day next Tuesday. Thank you all for helping me figure this out. I need to be mobile if possible.
  23. Good Morning everyone, Congratulations for the successes the last week. Tamra, good job on those jeans. Hopefully they will be inspiring enough to keep you on the food plan as written. Enough experimenting as it never leads to good. Sorry to read about sick kids and hope you're also feeling better Reggie. Coco, so great to read that you're doing well. Mo, not sure if I'm going on the 20th as it will be 4 days post-op for me. I've been home sick since last Friday. I've worked from home all week. Sore throat, slight cough etc. I've been very careful because of surgery next week. This morning feeling much much better and planning to work in my office. I have so much to get done before surgery. I'm planning to go back to work after one week, but will do it from home so I can take good care of myself with naps, walking etc as needed. This morning my scale is at 227.6 so I'm good to go with my pre-op goal. My son decided to come home on the 19th for 4 nights. That's all he can do with his schedule. NYU is tough on missed classes and he has a project to film. Dr. Park told me to expect two nights at Kaiser so Zach will get home the day I'm released, unless I'm lucky and come home early. I think I have everything I need for surgery. I'm going to lay low all weekend, take my meds and totally recouperate so that I'm feeling great on Wednesday. John, can't wait to see you again and meet Nikki. How are you doing? Do you know who is assisting Dr. Fisher? I wonder which of us will be first up on Wednesday? I have the Baggs/Park combo. Have a fun day everyone!
  24. Thanks for reminder. I just happen to have two canisters of it that are unopened. I'll be sure to think about them next week!
