  1. So I'm 3 weeks post op and I'm still so hungry. I'm having a hard time keeping the exact eating and drinking schedule the nutritionist gave me b/c I'm a teacher. You eat when you're told you have lunch not when another schedule tells you to eat. I've switched two times to help this, but I'm still hearing and feeling my stomach. No head hunger here - real growling happening. Is anyone feeling this? I go for my first fill on Jan. 18th, but they have already told me they would only put 1cc in the band. That would mean I'd have 4cc's total. How can I talk them into doing more? Say 1.5 or 2 even? I was always a volume eater before so I'll need as much restriction as I can get!
  2. How many of you have had xrays or Upper GIs to check your band placement? When and why were the xrays or upper GIs done? I'm going in for my post op this Wed and I forgot to ask if they'd be taking an xray or not. Should I be worried if my doctor doesn't do one? 3. Burping is part of the territory now. I'm almost two weeks post op and still burping gas. I'm still waiting for the gas to be gone, but I wonder if it's just my body adjusting to it's new friend.
  4. I was banded on Dec. 17th and I'm hungry. I'm still on full liquids, which sucks. I can't wait for Wednesday and the doc to clear me for mushies. I do have some soreness and feel listless. I'm bored by the couch, but I need to wait for the doctor to clear me for exercise. I feel some pinching pain on my left side, and that's the port area. I'll have to find out what the doc thinks of that. H: 293 Pre-Surgery: 284 Banded: 12/17 Current: 264
  5. I'm supposed to get together with friends this afternoon and one said her 2 year old son is sick with a fever. I'm 10 days post op. Should I go or stay home?
  6. How long do I need to wait to drive myself after surgery? My surgery was Dec. 17th. I'm 6 days out. I'm not on any pain meds (haven't been for days). And I can't seem to remember what the doc said about it.
  7. Okay, it's my first day home after my surgery and my stomach is growling at me like it's hungry. I'm seriously upset. I thought everybody said you wouldn't be hungry after the surgery. What's going on?

    I was Banded Yesterday -woohoo

Wow, I can't believe you went home the same day and just a few hours after your surgery. I was overnight and thank god for that because it was major surgery to your stomach area. I'm at day 6 after surgery and feeling great. More power to you if you were able to do all of that stuff within one day. Were you totally knocked out for it or did you just have locals? Congrats.

    almost a week post-op....

Hey there, I'm a week post-op on Thurs. I still have the gas, but no movements yet. hmm... Still taking a bunch of gas-x strips too. My doc has my taking an antacid and laxative so that when it comes it won't hurt. I miss sleeping on my stomach, badly. I can't sleep on my sides at all, too uncomfortable. I get hungry too. But once I start eating by the time I'm done I'm usually feeling a bit full. My incisions ache, but not terribly. I don't feel so bad getting up and down any more either. I didn't even take a Tylenol yet today and the day's almost over! If your port site is really bad, maybe you should call the doctor. I'm jealous that you've lost 32 lbs already. I'm sitting a 18 lb. lost. I'm hoping by the end of the liquids phase, I'll be where you are with the weight loss. Congratulations on being banded. I'm not feeling "anything like get this out of me yet." I'm certain I will have those moments. I'm staying strong and keeping myself busy - especially my hands. :-)

    Stomach Growling and hungry

Thanks everyone, I knew I wasn't the only one feeling like my stomach was growling up a storm. Tomorrow is into full liquids - with protein finally going into my system I'm sure the hungry pains will go away.
  11. I had my surgery on the 17th, and I had some nausea that night. Went home on Friday. I mostly feel like there's a lot of gas that's trying to get out. Walking and gas-x strips helps. I am taking the half of a perki every few hours because I don't want to pull too hard on my abdomen area. And it helps take the soreness down especially when getting out of bed and off the couch. I'm just wondering when the soreness goes away. I can't wait to go back to full liquids tomorrow. Heightest: 293 1st consult: 284 PreOp Diet: 271 I'm on my way!
  12. I'm on clear liquids til Sunday. Broths, tea, juice, and Popsicles. Full liquids start for me on Sunday.

    December Bandsters 2009

I'm in surgery tomorrow morning, very exciting! I'm wondering if anyone bought things to do if you stayed overnight? Were you too drugged up to do anything? Would bringing a laptop and DVDs be a good thing? I don't know if I'll be up for reading, but let me know if you were okay. Thanks!

    Heat Rash

I got a bit of heat rash on my calf last week because I was wearing an ankle brace without a long sock. It's still there and my surgery is this Thursday. Would they cancel because a small patch of heat rash? I know you have to wear those legs stockings. I'm just worried. I have a call into my primary to see if he has something that will clear it up. Any other suggestions? Advice?
  15. My nutritionist said if you blend them and get the foam to let it sit overnight. Then shake it a bit before drinking.

Wish Me Luck! Big Day Is TOMORROW!!

That's great news. My surgery is this Thursday and I'm really excited. Glad to hear yours went so well.
  17. Okay, so I'm supposed to be on full liquids this week, but I'm wondering if my understanding of full liquids is very different from everyone else's. My nutritionist said to eat: Protein shakes, sugar-free pudding, yogurt (dannon light & fit), and blenderized Soups. Clear Liquids (broth, Water, and such) the day before and a few days after surgery. I'm just wondering if anyone else is doing this or did their doctors suggest something different when it came to liquids
  18. It's okay. I'm just feeling a bit hungry now on my 4th day of liquids.

Did you say your surgery was on the 17th too?

Boost Glucose Control, I thought that was a diabetes drink. Cool. My doc said Carnation Instant sugar-free drink too. Funny how they didn't say I should just continue taking my One-a-day. They gave me this long list of how much of each vitamin and mineral I'll need daily so I assumed it was more then the over the counter ones.

    December Bandsters 2009

Hi! I'm scheduled for Dec. 17th. Very exciting to well on my way to being ready for that date. My biggest problem is a ruptured tendon in my foot. :blink:Ouch! I hope that doesn't get worse and make it hard to exercise. I did buy the Wii Active game so I can at least do upper body stuff. I'm curious what kind of Protein drinks you've been told about. Bariatricadvantage.com was recommended to me. But, where else can I find the Vitamins and drinks?
