How long...?
I had 5 days of clears, 3 days of full liquids, 7 days pureed and 7 days of soft foods. It wasn't easy but I did it. I did lots of tea, popsicles and jello for the clears. Once I got to full liquids I could do protein shakes and that is what made a difference.

Can someone who is steadily losing wt share their daily diet?
I am all about the journal. I track on Free Diet Plans at SparkPeople I track exercising and eating and water since that is hard for me to get in. My doctor wants me to eat 3x a day with no snacks but I haven't had a fill yet so that isn't going to happen. He said he would rather I eat smaller amounts more frequently than eating too much and stretching my pouch. My meal plan is pretty much as others mentioned above. I really stress tracking your food.

Some days are harder than others....
I notice that too. I have be careful about breakfast. I never been much of a breakfast person and if I don't then my calories really add up from late afternoon to evening.

What was your "That's it" Moment?
A friend I used to work with had the LB surgery and is now at goal weight and looking awesome!! My son has noticed I don't look like most moms and has been making a ton of comments. Last fall during my husbands open enrollment with work I called around to see which insurance would cover the LB and at what percent. I got my paperwork in and saved money for my portion. I am still early on and waiting for my first fill but so far so good!!

Some days are harder than others....
I totally agree some days are harder than others. What I do to combat that is JOURNAL. Yeah it sucks to write down everything I put in my mouth but that is what I have to do to in order to be successful.

Anyone miss being able to drink with meals?
Mine allow me to drink right up until I eat as well but not drinking for 2 hours after kills me. I count down the time occasionally.

Lap Band Surgery Day Stories
Today was my surgery. I arrived at 630 and they put me in a room to change into a gown and ted hose for blood clots. My pre-op nurse was really sweet and proficient. She kept checking on me before the surgery. About 45 minutes later they took me into surgery. I then met with the surgical nurse who reviewed meds, allergies and what to expect. After that I med with the Anesthesiologist who was really nice and encouraging. They give me Phenergan to help with nausea. My post op nurse was my favorite. Right after surgery I told the nurse I was scare I wasn't going to be successful. She took my hand and said she believed in me and that she knew I would be successful. That really meant a lot to me. I was in recovery for 4 hours. I am now home and have some pain and nausea but it is do able. I look forward to getting healthy and losing weight!!!

Why Tell Anyone?
I know a girl I used to w ork with that had LB done. She looks amazing!! Only she and my husband knows and that is the way it will continue. I don't want to be judged and I don't want to hear negative comments. Plus I don't think its anyone's business.

It's offical I am banded!!
Update from today. I ended up having to take some pain meds. My daughter (18months) elbowed me on one of my incisions. I waited awhile and was extremely sore so I did break down and take some pain meds. I am tender but this has been easier than I thought. My husband made steaks and mushrooms, baked potatoes and salad for him and the kids..... I had to leave the room until they were done lol! Good luck tomorrow!!

United Health Care
I also have United. They qualify you if you have a bmi of 40 or bmi 35 with co mobalities, like sleep apnea or diabetes. I had documentation that I went to Weight Watchers for a year. I got qualified right away just one letter. With mine they cover at an 80/20 with a maximum payout of 10,000. My surgery is scheduled for March 1st. I can't wait!!!
