MAY BANDSTERS ~ How are you doing?

I was banded 5/10 and am doing ok. I have lost 20lbs and am pretty happy with that. I am also hungry all the time! I can't have a fill for another 4 weeks. I have been trying to make the right food choices. I find that if I have had to much time lapse in between meals(aka no snack) then i am ravenous and eat whatever i can! I had a water roll today and it was heaven. I actually ate it rather fast too because i was starving and i had no problems. I can pretty much eat anything and have no problems. So i am counting doewn the days to my first fill!! Loved that feeling of restriction post op due to the swelling!

    May 10-14 2010 Bandsters

I am down 20lbs and feeling better!! I have much more energy! I am having a hard time not eating everything I see! I have no restriction and that makes it so hard! I am getting my first fill in 4 weeks...can't wait!
  5. i think with your arms down they look perfect! If it were me, I would def not want to go back under the knife! Too painful!!
  6. I have my 2 week post op appt tomorrow morning. My hunger has subsided with the real food being incorporated. I haven't started exercising because i needed clearance from surgeon to do that. I walk every day, but that is it. I am down 23 lbs!!!!!

  7. It is very hard! Just do the best you can. If you can't get in all your protein right now then that is fine. At least that is what my nutritionist said. i am glad to hear you're feeling better!!
  8. Thank you for posting everyone!!! I was banded on may10th and i am really starting to struggle with hunger. Right now i am have some cream of wheat. It is yummy! I am suppose to be on full liquids, including yogurt and cottage cheese. Then on monday i am allowed to start incorporating soft foods into my diet. I am way too hungry though and have decided to start them a bit early. So far no problems.I had a teaspoon of peanut butter yesterday and a tablespoon of refried beans today...still no problem....i am worried though that i will stretch my stomach and not even know it.
  9. I am doing much better thank you!! How are you doing?? I am pretty hungry and have started to incorporate certain pureed foods in my diet. Like refried beans and cream of wheat....

  10. I was banded on the tenth. It wasn't until the sixth day of my recovery that I really felt better. I has a lot of issues with gas. I still feel pretty bloated. Having a hard time getting all of my protein. I had clear liquids first 24 hours and now for the next two weeks i can incorporate cottage cheese, and yogurt into my diet. Next monday which is day 15, I will be able to move to pureed foods like applesauce and potatoes! I am so excited for that! I work overnights and this is my first shift back. Feelin pretty good! I have lost a total of 20lbs in the past three weeks(two weeks was pre op diet of Optifast). My belly is really swollen still though and very bruised.

    Six days post op

I feel so good!!!!!!!!! Finally!!!!!!!! I am so happy that I finally am feeling like myself again! That was a rough five days!! I even put makeup on today!
  14. yes i have noticed about a 3lb weight loss in gour days. I am also still very swollen and kinda surprised that i have lost even that amount. Don't get discouraged!! This does take time! It is very discouraging to not see the scale budge, but it will!! My dr said six weeks post op is for healing. Not losing weight. So just consider this period a resting time! I am still really gassy...how bout u? are u taking gas x?

    Fourth day post op

I feel so much better than yesterday!!! Things are looking good! my incisions are healing well and i am able to get around much easier! PTL!!! I am sipping on a protein shake right now and waiting for my uncle to pick up my son and take him to school. I still haven't driven and not sure when I will feel up for it. Thank God for my family! They have supported me throughout this whole endeavor! Couldn't have done it w/o them! I don't know how mothers who have small children get this surgery unless they have a strong family supporting them. It is very physically demanding! I will keep u posted!!

    Fourth day post op

Ya i am sore...like when i stand up it takes a couple minutes for me to be able to stand straight. Almost like I have to "re-stretch" my stomach...its kinda weird. I know people who go back to work 3-4 days later no problem...then there are the ones who need a good solid week or two to be able to function at work. Everyone is different i guess!! I am glad i took off this week. I dont rally have a high tolerance for pain so the extra time is so crucial for me!!

    Third day post op

So I am feeling much better today. I am having a hard time getting up and down, but it is incision pain. I also have a lot of pressure in my chest. Feeling bloated. I have been trying to keep up with my fluid intake and that is a bit hard! Went for a walk around the block. Right now i am having soem fat free cottage cheese. It is rather yummy! I had a protein shake this morning. I am going to finally take a shower tonight! It has been three days, so i am more than ready! I was cleared to take a shower the day after surgery, but i have been in too much pain! I have dermabond on my incisions, so i dont have to worry about stitches. I am excited! I am ready for this journey!
  18. ya i am not hungry either! I had my surgery the same day. I have been sipping fluids and moving, but not really eating...I had a protein shake earlier today, but i could only drink about half of it over 2 hours. I am having a lot of gas pain and soem incision pain, but i agree with you on the c-section.....having a c-section is NOTHING compared to this!!

    Day nine

So i feel better today. I had such strong cravings these past couple days, but i feel a renewed sense of determination today. I have been at this for nine days. Five more days to go. I am starting to get a bit nervous. Not the surgery, but the days following. I have help for my childcare situation, but I still will need to be a mommy to a toddler the rest of the time! He is not fully potty trained yet and I am a bit apprehensive about helping him out of wet clothes, putting him on the potty, carseat, etc.... I am sure it will be fine, but it is still on my mind.
