  1. :w00t::w00t:I have to make this fast :eek::eek: I have been off the boards because it was a religious holiday weekend for my family which ended on Monday (Yom Kipper) Even though Monday is a day of fast we do have a dairy dinner to break the fast but for health reasons we do eat modestly during the day but if you want to control the family and extended calorie count :sneaky: you cook everything :w00t: even though you are banded :tt1::tt1: :crying: If you want your butt to stay in the previous year (Jewish Year) I can not taste as I cook  :crying::crying::crying: I can not :cursing::cursing: it is the start of the year and the book is closed  :tt1::tt1: I did finish my afgan for a friends daughters baby and it was so nice and finished it prior to running out of the house... it kept me from eating  :w00t::w00t: Everything that I cooked was eaten yet I was so happy that I could make it yet NOT eat it :w00t::w00t:As I am writing this Dr Oz is on TV and he showed some overweight people and it was upsetting but at least I know I am on my way... went on my hospital webpage and I took my BMI and it is 41.6 because even though I am 6 feet.. I used 5 ft 10... because if I used my real height I would have a better BMI :ohmy: anyway, if I get down to the 260 lb challenge then I would move out of the morbibly obese to severly obese  :w00t::w00t: still would be overweight but at least I would be better off health wise :mad2: he showed a womans xray who had a BMI of 50 plus and she had her lungs pressed by her body fat :tongue2::thumbdown: So maybe we should all be tracking our weight loss but Dr OZ worries about the waist size :w00t::w00t: :sneaky::sneaky: Maybe we should add our BMI to the Halloween contest and :w00t: our waistline :w00t::w00t: :eek: Miracle that I finally finished this post .... Missed this site :tt1::tt1:
  2. Here goes: Blueberry Tiramisu (my invention) Part one is to make the cheese mixture Put in the blender: one 8 oz reduced fat cream cheese one small low fat ricotta cheese (15 oz size) the juice of one lime (could add 2) zest of the lime Some Stevia (my favorite or Splenda) blend it should be watery (hardens up when put in the refrig after the layering of the Tiramisu set aside Part two Blueberry sauce Canned blueberries (pie filing) with Splenda :sneaky: OR :sneaky: Put frozen blueberries in a small pot and boil (Costco because they are nice and small.. my preference) and you add some Tapica to make somewhat thicker When competed this step take off the stove and place in a glass bowl to cool... then add some fresh zest of another lime Part three Layered Cracker or Wafer Normally you would use the Lady Fingers:cursing: :thumbup:WE are Banders :thumbup: So we use those funny thick rice or mixed grain crackers (mine had a radius of at least 10) and I purchase them at my local farmer....NOTE they are hard with at least an eight of an inch inheight and if soaked they would disintegrate...mine are called CocoPoP and I just noticed they have a website:ohmy: Part Four Assemble Squeeze some lime juice on the wafer of choice then you can assemble in a large pan or as I did in individual dessert cups so it was more portion control and just break off the wafer to size First layer wafer Second layer spread the liquidy cheese mixture Third layer spread the cooled blueberry sauce repeat layers one thru three Place in the refrig to harden (settle) If you can wait... dig in I use my Tiramisu as Lunch or Dinner :w00t::w00t: I hope that you like it :tongue2::scared2:
  3. I for one love to cook ... that was the reason that people never took my previous weight loss journeys seriously... I have lost only becasue of the yummy foods I for one vote for recipes :scared2: If we post... mastered an easy easy blueberry no cook taramiso as an alteration from a fat assed recipe found on the web Also.. I hope everyone is grilling or steaming their peaches.. omg..to sweet to explain... I can not eat the skin.. but yummo:ohmy::ohmy:
  4. :scared2::cursing: I had asthma and then had a situation and went into shock..no joke and long story but to those with asthma PLEASE be careful :smile2: that is why I am very careful presently with the exercise :w00t::frown::huh2: TO JEN and all us motivated 10 lb loss challenge :tt2::ohmy: I can not figure out what my new weight is to start. My DH  played with my scale last night . So, I range between 280 and 290 on the crazy :tt2: DH scale  so till I go to the baratric surgeon.. who knows what my weight really is....... I decided that if I put my feet at the top and marked my size 11 feet in a certain way that is the position that I will weigh myself for this challenge :thumbup:My goal is to stay motivated and have a place to complain with ... so I will honestly stay at that position on the scale and use :cursing::w00t: 290 :w00t::cursing::w00t: as my starting weight. the true joy is when I weigh myself at the Bariatric Surgeon in November or if I run over to be weighed at his office :eek::eek: God help us and the smallest butt wins :w00t:
  5. Zoom-Zomm:eek: So you can zoom around :smile2: check out EbonyRoses blog but start at the beginining I went in the other direction. Then get some tissues ... she is so  inspirational :huh2::huh2:and you will see how great and positive she has been on her journey.:thumbup: :w00t::sneaky: It is in common sense english, wish my old nutritionist had her insight :w00t::sneaky: I was :scared2: now :tt2: naw :w00t:  :w00t: Jollygreen :w00t: was here
  6. I have read all your blogs and I thank you for all you common sense advice. I had fallen off the wagon and rejoined the banding life again. Your journey has strengthened my motivation even more to succeed at this journey. The weight loss that you have accomplished is fine but your blogs put it into common sense explanations with everyday being an adventure. Thank you again for posting on one of the threads that you had posted on that allowed me to see this blog.

I will reset it after I check all my mail If I did not love my DH I would have killed him  When my guy gets like this it means I am really losing weight..feeling great... he is great but thinks he is helping :scared2: Laura PS - Extremely bright man but he does stupid things... alumin foil in the microwave (twice) ...fixed the trash dispenser with it on ...etc.. that is why we do not have a microwave or anything that he could screw up lmao
  10. Cari- I think that your office is trying to harrass you becasue you are so young. They know that at your age you will take that shit :scared2: Put a seasoned woman and we would kick them where the sun does not shine. Now the old lady .lmao..will give you some current advice which we did not have in the old days (your age)... 12. My name is  Laura :cursing: You can call me Laura or Jolly I have the name Jollygreen because decades ago... in elementary school everyone called me that because I was 6 feet tall (my height in 6 th grade)... and thin... went to doctors to gain (but could not) :scared2::wub: The kids used to sing the Green Giant commercial to me :cursing: :cursing: which I hated  Now that I am older and wiser :cursing::cursing: I think that the name is funny but not at 12 :cursing:
  13. There is something to Journalling...when my DH (dear husband) lost most of his weight... I kept a precise account of everything that went into his mouth...:cursing: :cursing: But I threw it out and now wished I had saved it because it would help him to see how wonderful he had been  My nutritionist has asked me to keep a journal and I am trying to figure out the layout for it  I  am trying to finish an afgan by tomorrow so I can wash and dry it on Saturday when I give it as a present :cursing: Does anyone have a great idea for the journal layout...I used to use the notebook that the DS (dear son) did not use at school :cursing::mad2: I purchased a pretty book to use at Walgreens clearance for a dollar.... it can be caried in the purse  :scared2::tt2::scared2::tt2::cursing: to those who think I will not succeed :sneaky::cursing:

  15. OMG....When the family gets together...:wub:FOOD  :wub::eek::eek::eek: WHY DID I GET BANDED?:eek::eek::eek: This is what I do? I bring some food for me just in case I can not eat what they have  Next, they all know you were banded, so it is not a secret... my husbands Nana was a diabetic, so she would regally sit at the head of the table and taste everything, pulled out the LINEN napkin and politely put it in the napkin. There would be a silence at the table (now you think that was because of the napkin)....... SHE would say...not enough salt...or where did you get that recipe...or (she always told me) delicious but if you made it, it must be healthy :wub::biggrin::thumbup: So, just remember that the joy of the holiday is to taste but not swallow And for you and me to be sitting at the table next year...you must let the joy being more important than the food I have made the kugels, meats, veggies, cakes, challahs and have found it easiest at the family gatherings because I know why I am there...and when you look at them eating and you take less space at the Table...we have won I have to make now a low carb sweet round challah, just for my husband, and a chocolate low carb round cake for him. And I am making the donut balls for my son who has asked for his round item. I am not stressed, because it is not at my house but I bring myself and the family and am thrilled to be on my way to a healthier unfluffy me  La Shana Tova
  16. In NY we have Help Me Howard, etc on the major tv networks, call them if you are willing ot be on tv and they DO get results I pay a fortune for BCBS and it is making me sick
  17. Suziecat At 54, I have been on so many diets and have done some stupid things to get my weight down. After nothing really working, I love this band. My regular doctors are so shocked that this band did what nothing done has ever really worked SO, I tell people I have been to the mountain and back I find that if I laugh about this situation I am in (banded) and leave it in a fun mood... it has been easier for me... friends feel that it has turned into a game for me  Have a great day :smile2:
  18. Gas laughed my ass off  Long reply you have excellent suggestions that we can all can benefit from  when I years ago was on the Richard Sommons page well... we spaced between paragraphs and great answers some folks would bold the print and have a larger font so those with eyesite problems could read. My best friend has disflexia and she can not read a long paragrah ..has to be broken :scared2: maybe that is something that we should discuss on another thread and have rules for answering a thread so all out members can enjoy everyones thoughts:crying:
  19. OMG...was The Biggest Loser on Tonight? Well I missed it. I have been extremely busy today and I did go to the surgeon for my visit and it was great. I lost 10 lbs and all he said was A plus plus! I have to go back in two months since the fill did work. He said that I need to lose a certain amount to be before my problems happened. So, I came home and worked..ugh..need to exercise..but it is ok..went to costco and ran up and down the aisles. If I get to the target weight it will be a miracle BUT I WILL do it because I really need to get my health back in track  I will be on and off depending which computer I will be on. Since, I did not get in all my calories..I was petrified that i would have gained...that has happened in the past well...I am on my way My doctor noticed the weight loss and his brother (the other surgeon) was in the hall..and I sang to the tune of I left my heart in San Francisco....I lost my ass on >>>>>>my street name...but the butt has really melted down Happy and thanks all Laura:eek:
  20. Hi all- I found this page looking at the new posts and I would love to join. I was banded in Feb 2007 and all was well till the doctors thought I had the big c (cancer)...well read myblog....It was not cancer and it got me crazied. Then I had family problems and deverted from me..so I am back My surgeon appt is tomorrow..and after my first fill...I will see what happens I forgot till reading here,,,since I was away from the doctor for over a year... with a fill..soft food..that is probably why I was so miserable
  21. The first thing is to see your nutritionist and have a written diet. I think that the meat is rotting in your stomach that is giving you the gas and I suggest a few days of good yogart..that would get the flora in your stomach back into shape. Drink some apple cider vinager with Water to help the stomach. THEN I WOULD DUMP REPEAT DUMP the chetos which has chemicals to make you eat it stay off fake sugars which block your natural food turnoff switch in the brain check that your products do not have forgot name..lquid sugar made from corn AND cleanse that body of yours of junk...and let the tool (lapband) help you get your weight off:thumbup:
  22. I can not eat items with a crust...the chicken would be like that I need gravey to get my meats down,,,so it would be a no no for me
  23. Thanks Next bagful..i will send out Laura :tongue2::thumbup::wub::thumbup::eek::thumbup::sad::thumbup::sad::thumbup::thumbup:
