  1. Check out these exercises: Plantar Fasciitis Stretching Exercises When I had it, I was told to do the towel stretch BEFORE getting out of bed in the morning, and as often as possible during the day...stop if it hurts, just pull to the point where it almost hurts. Gradually you will be able to stretch it more. I did it on the couch while watching TV too. Do what ever your doctor recommeded.
  2. I liked swanson's chicken broth best, and some of the celestial seasoning teas, like Tiffany said. Warm clear liquids were so soothing, small sips, burp between each sip. Cold liquids hurt my esophagus and just made me feel more chilled. I also wore lots of layers and loaded on the blankets because I could not get warm. That's all normal. It will pass. Walking helps a lot too, even just walking around inside the house. I paced the hall, back and forth, when the weather did not permit me to walk outside. That keeps gas moving, raises your temperature a bit, and also helps lower the risk of blood clots. It is very important. Before too long these early discomforts will be a fading memory and the pounds will be dropping off! Hang in there!
  3. This is all normal. As the weight starts coming off your metabolism drops and many of us feel colder. Wear layers. Many of us become intolerant of sweets. Dilute your clear fluids with water until they taste better. I have slight nausea and intolerance for some smells too. This is normal. It will help keep you from over eating so count it as a plus. When I have a bad day I just take it easy...pamper yourself in some non-food ways. Tomorrow will likely be better!
  4. Don't "throw out the baby with the bathwater". Just rededicate yourself to the program. Start over NOW. You can do this. Rid your refrigerator and pantry of all items that are not on your diet now. Maybe that will help. You're not alone in this kind of problem. Once you see the weight coming off it will help motivate you to change some eating patterns and keep it off. For now, use every tool you can to help you stay with the program.
  5. I didn't receive any receipt from Dr Aceves for what I paid, but sent an email to Nina and she promptly emailed one to me. Be sure to keep your receipt in case you are audited.
  6. Fantastic, Tiff! Your sleeve ROCKS!
  7. 90 nexium capsules (not mups) here in the US costs 300 buckaroos. They don't sell the mups version here in the USA.

I just bought some of that today. It is FABULOUS! I add a little to greek yogurt..mmmmmmm.
  9. How Cool! Good luck with your surgery!
  10. And be sure to get up and walk around a lot on the flights home...so you don't get a blood clot. Drink lots of sips of water to stay hydrated!
  11. Next time you go to the doctor, be sure you are not rushing around shopping or doing things before your appointment, go early, and do some meditating/relaxation exercises while in the waiting room. Have your appointment in the early morning because your pressure should be lowest then. Ask the nurse to let you sit quietly and rest for 5 minutes in the blood pressure area before they take your pressure. Close your eyes and take slow breaths like stoongal said, and relax during those 5 minutes. Be sure you are not drinking any alcohol at all in your diet, because that raises BP. As already pointed out, so does salt. I hope things get better for you.
  12. Yay! Welcome to the loser's bench. Gas x helps. Burp between each sip to get the air out. I agree that Dr Aceves and Dr Campos are awesome!
  13. Great advice, Tracy. I recommend stopping all herbal products a week before surgery because the side effects of some of them are not even known, and they could cause drug interactions, bleeding, or other problems. People think they are all "safe" because they are "natural". But they are just like drugs, with side effects and potential to interact with prescription medications.
  14. Yep, you are doing fine. You will have starts and stops, but the inches continue to drop away even when the pounds are not. Your body needs adjustment times in between chunks of weight loss. Relax, and weigh once a week when you are in a stall, so you don't get stressed.
  15. Dr Aceves did not recommend any bowel prep. But I tried to really limit myself to clear liquids for two days before surgery, just so my bowel would not be full of stuff that would cause more gas. I had very little gas post op.
  16. Donedidit, since you had a VSG, and not gastric bypass, you don't necessarily need vitamins for life. You certainly don't need potassium unless you have some wierd potassium problem. I think Jane thought you had a gastric bypass, and they may need potassium because of chronic diarrhea. Most VSG surgeons recommend a multi vitamin once a day when you are able to tolerate solids. If you are a "senior" like me, your doctor may recommend calcium. I suggest you get all the recommendations from your surgeon because 'the norm' for most may not apply to you.
  17. It takes a long time but eventually they become nearly invisible in most people. I had laparoscopic gallbladder surgery 10 years ago and could not even see where the scars were anymore. Now I have new ones from the sleeve. I'd rather have the scars than the fat, that's for sure!
  18. You've already lost 1/5 of your excess weight and have not even had surgery yet. I'd say you are doing great! keep it up!
  19. Doghouse, How are you doing now? Did all the problems resolve? I am 62 and am 7 weeks post sleeve. Had a few bumps but nothing severe, and have lost 50 lbs from my highest weight...30 since the surgery. I felt weak the first two weeks but once on mushy foods and enough protein, my strength returned. This week I forgot to take my nexium one day and woke up vomiting that night...first time since the day I got home from surgery that I have vomited. Bet I won't be forgetting the nexium again. I hope you are doing well and your naysaying friends have changed their minds!
  20. Isn't it wierd? I feel the same way. It's a chore to think up something to eat. Sleevehood is wonderfull
  21. congrats for doing it, dondidit! You'll be glad you did!
  22. I've had a little burp slip out with no warning in public occasionally too...it is embarrassing and very wierd...no warning at all. Guess it's better than a fart though!
  23. My highest weight was 288. When I saw that I could see 300 approaching, and that is when I decided it was time to do something. I started researching WLS. At 280 I started the pre surgery diet. Today I am at 238 and feeling wonderful. 50 pounds down from my highest. It's a landmark and I am really excited. Am about 1/3 to goal, at 7 weeks post surgery! YIPPEE>
  24. I've had knee and hip pain for years. Had arthroscopic knee surgery about 10 years ago but still, due to my weight, had pain. Now that I am sleeved and have lost 50 pounds, I do not have anymore knee or hip pain. It is wonderful! The sleeve rocks! My highest weight was 288. When I started the pre-surgery diet I weighed 280. Today....238!
  25. I pretty much lived on clear chicken broth which I made myself and strained to be sure it was totally clear; and sobe lifewater, various flavors, which I diluted 50:50 with water because it tasted too sweet. You can dilute apple juice also like this. There are other Vitamin water beverages that are also clear. I like the sobe lifewater because it does not contain aspartame which gives me a migraine. I found it for a dollar a bottle at Target. You can buy chicken broth but I preferred to make my own so it had more flavor, and I froze the chicken/veggie part for later to use in my mushie stage as a cream soup. If you can see through it and it has no particles in it, it is a clear Fluid.
