Anyone willing to help my research?
hi angela thanks for the reply i havent been able to find anyone yet but yes that was the whole reason behind my interest in this area a few years ago i lost 30 kgs on sureslim and i lost it really quickly, but i never accepted my new body and i became overly cocky about it it was only until i regained all my weight back and was going through some old clothes that i finally realised how tiny i was after the weightloss i'm sure alot of people can relate, i think with quick weightloss we dont have enough time to processes all the changes happening to our bodies so we are basically in a state of misperception until something finally triggers our realisation it's a really interesting topic, and it will no doubt help me on my journey when i get the band in august

Anyone willing to help my research?
Hi everyone I'm getting banded next august, still waiting for insurance to kick in but I'm looking for some volunteers to help me with my Psychology honors research project Im completing the final year of my degree next year and I am interested in studying perceptual congruence and body image distortions in people who experience rapid weight loss and change in body size My theory is that people who lose weight quickly are not able to cognitively process their changing body sizes and therefore they underestimate their weight loss and exaggerate their size, despite shedding the kilos I would need around 20 individuals preferably from Victoria, that are getting banded early 2010 and who are willing to complete a face to face perceptual exercise before and after their weight loss I would really appreciate some volunteers! If you are interested please reply or email me (alycejo31@live.com), I am not conducting my study until next year but I would need to know if I can get participants before I start the research Hope to meet you all soon!! seriously effed up body image issues
i'm glad that i read this because i feel less alone in my worries i havent had the band yet but a few years ago i lost 30kgs but still could not look at myself i think that unfortunately these negative body issues will follow me with or without the weight when i had lost weight previously i still felt fat and ugly, i couldnt see how much better i looked at the time now, after having gained all the weight back on, i finally realise how great i looked it sucks that i didnt appreciate myself when i had lost the weight because the low self esteem that i had ended up causing me to get depressed and gaining the weight again as for the saggy skin thats my biggest fear! i keep dreaming about the sexy skinny body i might have when i get the band but i'm sure that i'll never really be able to get my ideal body without more surgical help. it sucks being fat!

finally decided to do this
hey guys thanks for your support yep i know about all the costs, $4000 is alot less than $1000+ ! i actually work at a medical clinic and my doctor has worked alot with Dr Nottle so i'm also planning on seeing him this 12month wait will definately be a drag, i'm so impatient!
-
i regret not doing this earlier
hey guys i'm 20 and from australia haven't got a surgery date yet because i need to wait 12months to get my health insurance approved i see alot of you guys getting banded in your teens and i wish i had the chance to do it back then as well i cant wait to get this done, i'm sick of hating myself and feeling self conscious all the time just before my 18th, i lost 30kgs (about 65lbs) on a strict diet but my 'friends' all turned against me because they were intimidated by my newly found confidence. i ended up getting depressed and gaining all the weight on plus more. now i want to do this for me and i'm not going to care what other people think of me. good luck guys i've got a long time to wait but i'll definately be on here reading your stories! alyce
