  1. hey! everyone, i just got banded 4 days ago and have alot of pain at port site. it is also indented, i was told they attach the port to a muscle wall. evidently my muscle was buried under 2 inches of chub! so my port incision is indented in. anyone have this? also, i was not filled at surgery but i am not hungry and have not eaten for 6 days, only gatorade and apple juice and water.tomorrow, even if i'm not hungry, i will try some protein shake. i have kept on my oxycodone, as pain at port is to much to go alone. would love feedback!lisa6:confused:
  2. wow! these nsv stories are better than hearing about pounds! these are wonderful!!! we can all relate to them and omg you guys make me laugh!! i'm getting banded tomorrow at 8 am. i should of read some of these a long time ago, just what i needed to here. lisa6
  3. it took me 10months from having a referral from my primary care physician to cleveland clinic, through all my psych, nutrition, testing and surgeon visits. when all this was completed, my surgeon sent all "proof" of medical necessity to medicare and i was approved in 24 hours! it was a long road, but tomorrow is my surgery! the whole process took 10 months. but i am soooooo ready. hang in there, sounds like you are really close! lisa6
  4. i agree with you! i'm gonna eat small pieces,so as not to do this pb thing. funny, my surgeon never mentioned slimeing either! but the thought too has crossed my mind. what happens if you get sick? how does it pass through? oh well, i'm just adding to your questions, i get banded on the19th. so much to think about. lisa6
  5. i have one day to go till surgery and have been on pre-op diet of only 4 cans slimfast a day. i have somehow stuck to it, surprise, surprise! but i have only lost about 6 lbs. i am kinda worried that my liver hasn't shrunk! i have read many horror stories of surgery rescheduled. so, has anyone else not lost much with pre-op? should i be concerned or am i just obsessing? lisa6:unsure:
  6. i'm nervous right there with you! mine is the 19th. but i find solice knowing that i read and researched for a year before i made a decision. we'll be better for it. we're not healthy now, but we'll probably look back on this like many on this site and think of this surgery as a new lease on life! wish you well on the 18th! be positive! lisa6
  7. was anyone given morphine pump for pain in hospital stay and oxycodone at home? i'm banded in 5 days and am not one for meds that make me loopy! never had these drugs and wonder if i'll be stoned, and also get easily nauses from over the counter meds. but also do not want to feel pain if i don't have to.
  8. you are not alone! i too have 5 more days of only slim fast diet of pre-op! so much more difficult than i thought. my son came home from the army(been gone 3 months) and i cooked a party for about 50 people. i got to eat none of it. thought i would cave, but the emotional aspect sailed me through it! we,ve come this far, we can stick it out. nothing tastes as good, as being thin feels!
  9. bigpapa- i think it is wonderful that your determination is re-established. if you lost in the beginning, then you can lose in your new beginning! good luck! lisa6
  10. sjm1965- i'm so hungry i'm gonna eat my cat! no,really just teasing, i'm a vegetarian! but seriously, this is really hard my diet seems to be really strict compared to others i've seen on here. joking about it seems to help. but think of how awesome it will be to be able to say we licked it! my sister has a saying,"nothing tastes as good as being thin!" we'll find out if it's true! good luck! lisa6
  11. congrats on your surgery! you sound so spunky! your either a real trooper, or stoned! either way, you can't go wrong there! excited to see your progress,it's always inspirational! lisa6
  12. i'm starving! i'm on my pre-op diet only allowed 4 cans of slimfast a day and sugarfree jello! this is day 3 and 9 days to go. the last 2 days before surgery, i have to have clear broth and apple juice only. been eating ice cubes yum! so yes, i'm having trouble. i still have to cook for my family.(the hardest part) lisa6

hey guys i love paranormal stories too! in fact,my family has had such experiences and are all intrigued to the point ,my sister has a production company "in lieu of flowers" look it up on the web! we make movies based on all tales and research from family and friends! anyway let me tell you another one! in 1994 my older sister's husband committed suicide in the garage.myself and my son,(2 at the time) and also my other sis moved into her house with her as she couldn't work grief stricken and was unable to make her house payments. over the next few months my widowed sis insisted she would see him. one day my little boy came to ask me why is his uncle downstairs. i was creeped out and asked him questions. he was confused by this and said" mommy you said uncle was in heaven, no he isn't! then later in the following weeks, my widowed sis started drinking alot and hanging out at bars. bringing home a guy one night. my sister and i confronted widowed sis that this wasn't the right way for her to grieve. it was x-mas time and we had a tree set up behind us. as we were arguing about this my one sis says that brother-in-law would roll over in his grave. right then a x-mas bulb off the tree in the center was PITCHED out of the tree and hit my sis and then slowly rolled away from her, down a flight of stairs,to the landing and suddenly stopped on a dime! a glass bulb that did not break on hard wood floors! we all knew that it was him. unfinished business. we didn't say a word to one another. we didn't talk about what had happened. a couple of years later me and my sister (the one who was trying to set my grieveing sister straight) talked about it, but we have never mentioned it to my widowed sis. lisa6
  14. i am grateful to here these answers to your post! i have been searching for someone who had the dual surgery too!i am scheduled for both on august 19th. wondered if this prolonged the post op diet of liquids only. i have suffered with the hernia for years making it hard to excercise. lisa6

i got one! preety creepy but also sad.my mom tells this story and cries. my parents bought an old farmhouse 47 yrs. ago. the large family who lived there before had built a larger more modern home right next door. so my mom was making friendly neighbors with the other mother. the first month my parents moved in my mom was awakened at night by a toddler aged girl standing next to her at her bedside. my mom thought it was my sis who was 2yrs. at the time. she said"laura how did you get out of your crib?" she then realized it wasn't my sister! she was very upset and my dad had to calm her. about a week later my mom went to visit the old owner next door. she had never been inside thier home. she was talking to the neighbor when she saw a corner table with candles lit and a picture of a little girl. the same small child my mom had encountered! my mom was clearly shaken and the neighbor asked her if she was alright. my mom composed herself and asked who the child was. the neighbor replied, she was thier 8th child who was killed in a tractor accident on the property! my mom did not share with her the experience as they were not close by any means. but my mother felt that she knew something had happened as over the next 47 yrs. she never talked to my mom. my mother then spoke a message in her bedroom just in case the child could here her. she told the child that her mother no longer lived there, but that she was in the house next door. my mom never seen her again. i grew up in that creepy house, never experiencing the child but weird things would happen and as a teenager my friends and i named the ghost"martha" and would blame everything on her! lisa6
  16. lb! it sounds like it's time for you to do something for yourself! as mother's we tend to always blame ourselves, don't we?! well, i will be banded soon, so you are a few steps ahead of me but i can understand how you don't want anyone to know. i wish now that i wouldn't of told people because of negative input. but i can't do this all by myself and i'm sure most can't. i too have dealt with the severe depression over the years and truly sympathize with you. we punish ourselves. i used to run. now i can barely walk a flight of stairs without huffing! but we will get healthier and we will make our minds healthy too. how honest and candid you are! it's refreshing and i wish you the best! lisa6
  17. bristlecone, thanks for replying about "jealous people" i liked your analogy and i will try to remember that! lisa6
  18. i haven't had the surgery yet(2 1/2 weeks away) but i have been putting up with negative responses too. all of them are from my family and best friend that are as obese and more so than i am. my husband is convinced that they are jealous. the worst is that they are the closest people in my life and i feel they have abandoned me. all i can think is that you would think that if they loved you, they would want you to be alive! sometimes i think people confuse it with cosmetic surgery. know this-you are not alone!
  19. hey! new here, mines on august 19th!
  20. hey! new here. what does pb mean? my banding is aug.19th and 3 days till my pre-op diet so getting prepared for a new way of eating! i read about foods not going down so well and pb, but i don't know what it stands for. thanks!!
  21. what's up! congrats, on your new life! how is your pain post-op? and how did you survive the 2 week pre-op diet!
  22. hey everyone i'm new! sooo looking forward to input from people in my boat! question: has anyone had hiatal hernia corrected at the same surgery as lap band? mine is scheduled for aug.19th. would appreciate feedback. lisa:thumbup:
