AND,,,, my weight is now down 20 pounds from Oct. 7th, day I started liquid diet. yaaaaaaaaaa meeeeeeeee

Here I am, 2 days after surgery and I'm doing ok,,,lot of pain from the air they pump in you,,, chest and shoulder hurt way more than the cuts do. The port site give me a lot of discomfort when I need to cough or blow my nose,,, then of course, if I move wrong,,, but I'm sure it will be all worth it by the time this all passes. Although, yesterday, 1 day out from surgery I was really wondering why I had done this to myself,,, pretty miserable day it was. Took the pain meds, a suppository for nausia and slept very well in the recliner :wink: I've been trying to sip on water, broth and some gello, but really not wanting to eat anything,,, doing it for the dehydration thing. Don't want that to happen,,, one hospital stay was quite enough thank you, lol:bored:

Well,,, today is the day. I will leave the house about 10am and have my surgery at noon! I've been on liquids for the past 14 days and I've lost 13.5 pounds. It was H A R D !!! To all you out there that have to do liquids,,, hang in there, it makes it all worth it once you step on the scale and see how much weight you loose AND that TODAY IS SURGERY DAY!!!! :-) Hope to write back soon with my wonderful experience that went very smoothly!:huh2:

Wow,,, 9 pounds down on the liquids,,, that makes it worth it:-) I'm not feeling as tired either,,, that's worth it as well! Guess more protein than fat will do that for ya, lol:-) 5 days to go,,,,, yaaaaaaaaaa me:thumbup:

Well thank you soooooooooo much! :-) It's confusing to me why some doctors do the liquid diet thing and some don't. I know it's for a good reason, but still confusing, lol. This time next week though,,, it won't matter because I'll have my band and will still be swollen and won't have an appetite, lol:-) Or so people say, hehehe Are you getting so excited that the day is almost here?

My band date is October 21st., next Wednesday,,, yaaaaaaaaaa me:-) My kid's are 3, almost 9 and 19. Been battling the weight for the past 19 years, lol. Txcloverangel is right,,, if I saw 17 pounds, I would be overjoyed! I think mine is around 8ish,,, but I'm thinking my scale is not very good,,, the walmart 8 dollar kind,,, should get a digital one for this journey,,, any suggestions on a good one?

Soexcited, the youtube video is something that WhyW8 mentioned. I logged onto youtube and searched lapband surgery. It's pretty gross,,, I don't think I saw the one WhyW8 was talking about where you can see the liver and how close it is to the stomach. I talked to the hospital yesterday,,, it was my pre-op hospital thing when they want to know all your medical history and she was telling me they have to hold the liver up while they are doing the surgery and if your liver is too fatty, it can cause it to bleed. She says it happens and it's not a life threatening thing, but it's not good and causes the doctor's to have to work with your liver bleeding,,, which I can imagine isn't a good thing. Starving your liver from carbs will shrink it and cause it to have a,,, in her words,,, "a clean crisp surface" Sounds sorta weird hu, lol Fixing lunch and dinner is SO hard,,, you are right! My husband says he can whip something up for them, but I'm mom and I feel that I need to do it,,, I am blown away at how hard it is to NOT put the food in your mouth. SoExcited,,, where are you having your surgery? gbakerc,,, how are you feeling now that you are on mushies,,, are you feeling good?

That's a great idea,,, the utube video. I have been very good on it so far,,, there was a day that I found myself on the second ritz cracker before I realized it and fixing my kid's lunch taking one small bite for the taste and getting carried away with 2 or 3 large bites of something. But all in all,,, I've been so good that I've lost about 6 pounds in the past week,,, hopefully I didn't ruin things with the little bites here and there,,, but those little bites have made me think VERY hard about NOT cheating even one little bit for the next 6 days! I never know your liver got smaller when you got smaller. But I want everything to go very smooth for me in surgery,,, so I fuss and groan and try to let out my frustration with,,, well fussing, lol,,, instead of eating. I will be so thankful for mushies that it will seem like I'm having a holiday dinner, hehehehe Thank you for the encouragement!!

Hello to everyone on the pre-op liquid diet. I started mine last Wednesday and will be on it till next Wednesday, Band Day! I could use ALL the support I can get to get me through the next 7 days.

Hey Karen,,, it's good to hear how good you are doing. I will be banded on the 21st and am really looking forward to that step of the process. I'm so tired of the liquid diet that I could scream,,, but sticking with it,,, just grumpy, lol:-)

My liquids are for 2 weeks prior to surgery. I've got my head in the game of sticking to the diet exactly,,, but my stomach hasn't got the memo yet. It's hard with your stomach grouling, lol When is your surgery? The 20th? Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa for us all!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good Luck to TheGerm,,,, it's hard but after the first 3 to 4 days,,, it got easier. I just keep imagining my liver and stomach and want them to be perfect for surgery,,,, smaller liver and nothing in my stomach. Both are to my advantage. I'm not sure what your liquid diet consist of TheGerm,,, but it helped me to have a little more chicken broth and to cook my vegi's in it,,, getting that salty taste helps me a lot. Good Luck!

Wow,,, all of you seem to have easy doctor's as far as liquid diets go. My doc has me on a liquid diet that consist of Atkins shake for breakfast lunch and dinner and for lunch and dinner I can have one cup of chicken broth and 1 cup of green vegi's. I'm on day 6 and have 9 more to go,,,,, and did I mention that I'm loosing my mind???!!!! It's so hard I have no idea how I'm going to make it till next Wednesday!

Ok, so the liquid diet started on Wed. the 7th. Today is the 3rd day. I can only have atkins shakes, broth and green vegi's,,, O wait,,, I can have water, lol:-) It is SO hard,,, I fix lunch and dinner for my family and it takes everything I have to not eat some of their food. I did mess up yesterday and ate some of the chicken I was pulling apart for dumplings,,, and this morning, I was giving them ritz crackers and realized after the second one I wasn't suppose to eat them. I need many prayers to get through the next 13 days, the surgery and recovery time. I think the week that follows surgery will be a little easier than the next 13 days, lol. BUT,,, so excited to be to the end of my wait,,, after the next 13 days,,, I'll be on the other side of this journey!!!! yaaaaaaaaaaa me:thumbup:
