I think to be honest the 'any risks involved' should be and most often are discussed with the Surgeon, i think she overstepped her role in the proceedure, after all she isnt a doctor and u are paying for your doctors advice not hers ..

That is not really high. Maybe you need to go and talk to your Dr and see what he says.
Ways of decreasing Bp are losing weight, cutting back on salt, eating healthily, exercising, not stressing etc but sometimes high blood pressure has no apparent cause and you can do everything right and it still remains high.
You may have just had a little bit of white coat hypertension( goes up because you are at the Dr's)
    Good luck

I can't comment on the legal stuff but I do have some questions.
Before this when was the last time you saw your Dr? Were you going for checks 1 or 2 per year as you are supposed to do for life? Were you following the rules? Were there any indications that something might have been wrong that you ignored?

If you are on a high Protein low carb diet then it is understandable that you may not want to eat them, but if you are not then you should not be scared off them.
Potatoes are a natural food. Not something that have been processed to remove the goodness.
It is possible to take the no white food rule too far. I think the intention with this was originally to exclude processed foods but there are quite a few foods in nature that are white. The ones that spring to mind straight up are:-
    onions
    potatoes
    garlic
    cauliflower
    parsnips
Got stuck so I googled and found this

Remember, not all white foods are created equal. Stick to natural white foods such as cauliflower, white Beans, apples, pears, turnips, garlic, white cabbage, cucumbers, white onions, fermented tofu, bean sprouts, egg whites, white meat chicken, turkey, endive, white meat tuna or other white fish as well as white low fat yogurt, white low fat/fat free cheeses or low fat/fat free soy milk. Research shows that eating white fleshed fruits and vegetables 2-4 servings a day, can cut stroke risk; that is related to quercetin, a flavonol antioxidant. See, there are lots of white foods to still enjoy! Eat them and stay healthy!

Costco's Premier Protein shake, 11 0z and 30g of Protein. Love the chocolate shake.< /p>
18 each for $24.99 ready to drink. I stick mine in the freezer for 45 minutes and it comes out like a thick smoothie.

I am tired of potatoes getting a bad rap. They are not empty, they are really nutritious.
    Check what is in them
    ttp://nutritiondata.self.com/facts/vegetables-and-vegetable-products/2770/2
One of the most important minerals that they contain is potassium. This is a mineral that people can easily lack and low levels can cause all sorts of issues with heart rate etc. I have had to drink a potassium supplement before after ending up in emergency - it tasted awful and there were other places I would much rather have been.
So not all white foods are worthless.

Now you list corn as a safe veggie and I know that gives a lot of people trouble. It is very fibrous. Which basically means that you have to figure these things out for yourself as what works for someone else may not work for you and vice versa.

123crod reacted to elcee in How Long Can My Lapband Last?
Theoretically a lifetime but in practice some parts may need replacing before then. It is possible that the "balloon" part may become less effective from constantly be stretched, a bit like a balloon that has been blown up a couple of times. If that happens then not a major problem they can replace it or if a newer better surgery is available at that point you may choose to revise to that. Most prosthetics whether they be knees, hips or heart valves do seem to eventually need to be replaced.

I was banded 3 years ago next month and when I get off track (often) I have to start again. I am on day 3 of staying on track so join me. Go get your fill whatever your Dr says is only words, get your fill and move on. It would be nice if your Dr was encouraging but if not just suck it up and go get it and start over. Words won't hurt you but not getting a fill and starting over will.

I am so excited and happy right now I could bust! LOL!
When I started this journey, I weighed well over 400 pounds...
...I have spent the last 6 months cruising down through the 300's
Today, finally, I AM IN THE 200's!!!!
I still have a long battle ahead of me, but for a girl who hasn't seen the scale display a weight that was in the 200's for 19 years, it's amazing. I am just ecstatic.
    I love my band!!!
    <-----My happy dance! LOL!

Ok I just came in from the above Support Group Meeting. I walked in and sat down by someone and after a few minutes of talking to some of the others I turned to a woman and said I do not think I have met you have I? Well it was someone banded who has been to the meeting before and who is active on these boards and I have talked to here before and invited to the meeting before. She had not been to a meeting in a couple of months . . .
She looked like a totally different person. Her weight loss had really changed her looks. I felt so bad at first that I did not recognize her. But is was due to her hard work at losing weight. I won't embarrass her by saying her name, but she knows who she is. You look great!!
So you who think people can't tell the difference when your losing weight, maybe they don't say anything because you are working so hard losng weight that people just don't know it is you!

Sorry you have had such a hard time. But you will probably live longer and you sound like you have been having some adventures. You have done great with your weightloss.
food is just not as important as we try to make it. We have to change our mindset eat to live instead of enjoying every bite we put in our mouths. It is a work in progress for me anyway.
I have had my band 3 years. Did you use Dr. Spivak? He was my Dr. and has since retired and moved.
Maybe getting some therapy would help you deal with some things. I wish you all the best. I think it helps when you have support of people going through the same daily things you are going through as far as with the band. I would be happy to talk to you anytime.

If you have had your LapBand 3 years and only lost 1 lb. you have more to worry about than vomiting up liquid.< /p>
First I find this post hard to believe it is true. Come on you would have already seen your doctor, many, many times.
We are people here who are serious about our journey with the band and you are wasting people's time. I just wasted 3 minutes answering this.

Ok so day 4, it's rainy. I woke up early, made eggs, bacon, biscuits. I made my plate immediately and ate. I only made enough eggs for myself cuz who likes cold eggs ? Of course the other girls wake up, wonder where their eggs are, grumble that I didn't make them any, and finish off the bacon and biscuits but I'm fine, I ate mine already and they are big girls.
lunch is seafood out, but the place we go is alllll fried. Even the oysters are fried, it's outrageous. I get the fried shrimp, have two after pulling the skin off, and try a fried oyster. All I can say is yuck, I felt gross! But actually the other women said nothin, I was surprised. dinner is going to be sandwiches or a fend for yourself so I'm sure I'll be fine tonight.
To address some earlier posts. There are six of us here, two 50+ yr olds, two 28 (myself) and two 25 year olds, all of us teachers. I don't know if any of you know teachers, but we are some of the most gossipy, judgmental women... Probably from spending all those years around teens. and if m being honest with myself only two of the women here I'd consider a real friend. If the others found out about my surgery, and the fact I'm still 250 lbs, I seriously doubt they'd just shrug it off and go about their business. So I'm choosing to keep it to myself.
And I'm a very strong willed (called bull headed before) woman, the only reason I'm choosing to not fight this battle is because I'm in a three bedroom condo for 8 days with them. I dont want to make waves any more than I have to, but I am very thankful I have this forum to vent on!

If you don't want what people really think I say don't ask. I have never seen people be “evil” sometimes the truth hurts us all!
