  1. I would love to talk to you. You can message me or e-mail me either one. Cheri
  2. I am 16 months out and lost 80 lbs and never required much fill. So don't worry there will be plenty of time for fills. Cheri
  3. It will go by faster than you think. I am 16 months out and if I find myself going off track for more than a day or two. I return to liquids just to get my focus off food. As long as you get enough protien you might not even get hungry after a couple of days. It is so worth the two weeks to get the weight off and know you are not alone in your fight to keep it off. When you get discouraged come to this site and read and research and talk to people going through what you are or have gone through it. It will help so much. Do you have a supportive wife or girlfriend that will also help, maybe she would do a liquid diet for a couple of days with you, you never know? Need anything message me. Good luck. Cheri
  4. Cocoabean, Great post, great information, thank you! Cheri
  5. I do not want to start an arguement, but it is not hype. Watch the news, pull up the bordering towns newspapers and read for yourself. My husband's family lives in Matamores, Mexico bordering with Brownsville and they all are scared, their way of life has changed. People do not go into the city at night anymore and a lot of businesses or going out of business, people call them and their neighbors on the phone and threaten them. They are living in fear. I do not care if you have surgery in Mexico . . . if I could have not afforded it in the U.S. I might have considered going there before this last year. There are good and bad Drs in every country, but that is not what the danger is. It is the cartel members. I can't stand to read people saying it is not true when it is. Please, please as you are researching your DR please research the area you are going to just as much. If you walk down the streets in Mexico it is hard to tell the vistors from those who live there and that is really true of the border towns. Just type in Juarez and research it. Thanksgiving weekend our family had a really big celebration and we did not go as it is just too dangerous and I want my Grandbabies to have a Grandma. It is not the Doctors or the people of Mexico it is the drug cartels and they only care about making money, they are not even loyal to each other . . . innocent people are getting killed to show which cartel is stronger. Okay I have said enough but please just check it our for yourself not with people who had surgery later than a year ago because too much has changed in the last year. Promise that all I will say about it. Cheri
  6. No we filed together. Cheri

  13. chicken is one of those foods that I never know if I can eat or not until I eat it. I have always been when something is coming up it comes with such force and no effort on my part. Once I drank some coffee that on that day did not want to stay down and came up so fast it come though my nose too, that was super gross. With Chicken try dipping it in a sauce or Fat Free salad dressing it helps it go down. Cheri
  14. I went through this a couple of months ago and I dropped my carbs down to hardly any and it took about 6 weeks and I dropped 10 lbs. Now I am on my last 20 to lose and I am having to change up my carbs all the time to get the last off too. As far as my surgeon is concern I am finished but I am still 170 lbs and want to lose at least 20 more. Cheri
  15. Congratulations to both of you. I started lurking around this site about a week before I had surgery 16 months ago. The best thing you can do for yourself is find a support group to join and go to on a regular basis as well as visiting this site as often as you can. It is important to be in touch with people who are going through the same things you are. My Doctor's support group was too far away for me to go at night due to work and traffic so I found some people on this site who lived in my area and we started our own support group. We meet once a month and talk on the phone and e-mail each other. It has helped us all so much. We are all different ages with different bands, differernt Doctors, and have been banded for different amount of time. Good luck to you both. Cheri
  16. I will be praying for both of you. There is a Christian Brandster Thread on here too, you should post there too, we all pray for each other. Cheri
  17. You are worring yourself sick. Please let yourself relax and get some rest, that is the only way you are going to get better. Your body is trying to heal from surgery and trying to fight off a virus at the same time the last thing you need is more stress. I am almost 16 months out and have the flu right now, I did go to an after hours/weekend clinic for cough med to keep me from coughing. Since I was first banded I have had trouble with my band and my body when I get stuck (my fault) and have vomited my whole meal numerious times over those 16 months. For some reason when I get stuck it never goes down but always up instead. I could wait it out for hours trying not to vomit. Anyway I think it takes a lot to slip your band . . . so at one week or one month out I would not be so worried. Please let yourself relax and heal. Stress does not let you heal. Stop worrying about seeing your Surgeon right now it is up to you to let yourself heal up . . . . in a couple of weeks you can deal with the surgeon and his office. I always saw my doctor at every appointment and he is the only one in his office that does the fills and they are always under floro so I know all those times of throwing up did not hurt my band so I can understand the need to be able to reach your surgeon I would give yourself time to get better and then call him directly if he does not remember you remind him everytime you call him and he will start to develop a realtionship with you. But you are already running to another Dr. Make him do his job if I remember you were self pay I was too. Do let him take your money and not give you the aftercare you desrve, but do it later when you are healed up. Cheri
  18. Don't see why it would hurt anything. I take meds for anxiety sorta similar. Just if they are time-release don't crush them. Just make a simple call to surgeon's office and ask always best to ask. Cheri
  19. The name of that place is “Beliteweight” in Detorit I saw it it on another thread. She has her chioce of Mexico or Detorit for the same price. My doctor has lowered his price for self pay to $10,000 he is a great Dr in Houston. Cheri
  20. $12,999 and included one year of office visits and fills. Well worth it like others said. Almost 2 years later he is charging $10,000. That always happens to me. Cheri
  21. I counted mine but you do have to itemize and not take standard deduction. First time in years I got a refund instead of paying. Cheri
  22. I too have the flu. I am not going to have any unfill. My surgeon said if you have to cough alot due to flu or something go to Dr and get a prescription cough med. They gave me Hycodan and one teaspoon every 4 - 6 hours. I really works. Cheri
  23. Hey Axel haven't we been through this before and then you private messaged everyone and got kicked off. Maybe you have a new name but same old story! Cheri
  24. For some reason I like the new site format kinda refreshing after 15 months of looking at the old one. I have the flu today and I have no voice at all. My hubby is probably enjoying the no talking thing . . .trying to stay in the bed as much as possible as Monday brings work and Tuesday brings Grandbabies and work. Hope you all had a Happy Thanksgiving! Cheri
