  1. Anyone going to the OH WLS Conference this weekend in Houston? A couple of us that I met on this message board are going it is suppose to be fun! Cheri
  2. Try drinking something hot before you eat. I drink coffee every morning as my band is too tight in the morning and drinking something hot before you eat makes it easier. Try some coffee or hot tea. Sometimes I have to do that before I eat a meal or take my meds. So sorry you are having so much trouble. I think that is a something we all are afraid of. Cheri
  3. Some people from my support group have and they like him. I used Dr. Hagar Spivak in Houston and he is great too Cheri
  4. Hang in there a little later is better that not at all. Also a great way to kick off a new year. Cheri
  5. You should be so proud. I always wanted to be a runner but for some reason I breath wrong. But would like the feeling of accomplishment. Keep it going should really help with your weighhtloss. Cheri
  6. I say be honest, but you can explain that when you meet with them. Going to the bathroom at night will not keep you from getting WLS. Cheri
  7. Go back and let them remove a tiny bit more. A lot of people have no fill at the time of surgery. You can always have it put back. It is a must that you can drink, you should have no troubles drinking. Cheri
  8. Sounds like you might have to look for a good support group outside the house. There are support groups everywhere or just start your own. We did here. We all met on this website and got together about 6 of us and we still meet many month later. It really helps to be around people who really know what you are going through. Cheri
  9. You need to find a way to reduce the stress in your life. If your life is just going to be stressful . . .get some counseling to learn some coping skills to deal with all the stress you are dealing with. Are you chewing really really well and eating slowly? Cheri
  10. Drinking alcohol on a regular basis is one of the reasons listed as who should not get the band. Not that you said you did. Cheri
  11. Don't go back. It was the hardest thing I have ever did to give up diet coke but I did cold turkey. I still miss it. Put a drink in your mouth keep it a minute then spit it out, you will not want it anymore. It is not good for you or your pouch. I am still looking for something to replace it 15 months later still have not found it. Nothing as good as diet coke!! Some people drink it but my doctor and many doctors say no way. Cheri
  12. No candy but a lot of suger free popsicles. I can not stop eating them. Right now am sitting in front of the heater eating one. I have to have them every night. It has become a very bad habit. I think sugar free candy is okay as long as you check the carbs and it does not trigger your craving for more sweets or carbs Cheri
  13. So glad things are going good for you Bob! Great post . . . from the heart. Cheri
  14. That is very funny!! I still wear the same PJ bottoms (my favorite) 80 lbs later and my Grandbaby is always pulling them down. Thank goodness it is just her and I here. Cheri
  15. Good to know I was not too fond of the early 40's so looking forward to the 50's being good. Cheri
  16. I also have a right to say what I want to.
  17. Do not let him scare you he is moving all over the threads spilling his words of hate. He is not even banded. Cheri
  18. Best thing I ever did. I was self-pay too and it is worth the money for me. Research it good and make sure you know what you are getting into and if you think you can follow the rules go for it. I did and am so happy I did Cheri
  19. 15 months out and down 80 lbs. It has been a great lifestyle changed for me. Cheri
  20. I was too tight for months and months but was to scared to have some taken out. My friend who is also banded said if I did not go she was going to take me there. They took only .2 ccs and it made all the difference. I had been getting stuck every meal and vomiting everyday, but was still scared to have some taken out. Trust me if you are too tight that is no way to live get a small amount taken out you will not gain weight . . you will be able to eat without throwing up or getting stuck every bite. Cheri
  21. I will be 50 next week so I am going to start reading this thread as maybe I will have more in common with people my own age? Please tell me the 50's are not worse than the 40's were. Cheri
  22. When I stalled out I dropped to a lower carb count and that helped a lot. Cheri
  23. I think it is both. Your mind and your Band working together. I was always an emotional eater and I must still be as I always want to eat when emotional issues arise even though I have no hunger, so you still have to control your thinking or off you will go to the kitchen. I am 15 months out and just starting to give in sometimes and then regret it. I am going to have to toughen up again and not let my emotions rule what goes into my mouth. I can not stop the emotions from coming just need to use the coping skills I know, instead of looking to food for comfort. Cheri
  24. You just have to make up your mind if you want to make a lifetime change in your eating habits. Having the band does not mean you can not enjoy a holiday meal it will just be a smaller portion than before. I am 15 months out down 80 lbs. The diet of liquids to mushies to solids is not too bad and it is on a short amount of time, you can do it no problem if you want to, but I think you have to go into it with the mindset that this is your new lifestyle. It is not a diet . . . you can still eat a lot of things you did before you just will not eat as much or as often as you did before. Getting the Band was one of the best things I have ever done for myself. Like everyone else I wish I would have done it sooner. I suggest you go to a few support group meetings and talk and listen to people who have the band. It is different when you are talking to people face to face. I do not think on-line support is all anybody needs, in person support is a must I think (along with on-line support). Also do all the research you can and then decide if you are up for the lifestyle change. But you could do it if you want to. We all have to decide how important food is to us. Cheri
