So psyched - I've lost 7.2lb so far after 5 days on the pre-op diet! Whoo hoo

So I'm starting day 5 of my 2-week pre-op diet. I am so excited to have already lost 5.5lb in just 4 days. I need to lose 14.5 to qualify for surgery so I still have a ways to go and it IS tough but this is one diet I'm not cheating on! The sooner I lose these 14.5lb the sooner I can have my surgery:tt2:

Oh, I'd love to join but not yet banded - will prob only be banded mid sept.

I believe my doc sees new patients on Thursdays so I'm calling their office first thing Monday morning - hoping for an appt thurs next week. :thumbup:

No, I was wondering if there was perhaps an injected version of anethesia that could be used instead of the inhaled anethetic. And, separate question.... Does anyone know what the name of the actual inhaled anesthetic is that is used. Thanks

It seems that in most cases I've read on here that an inhaled form of anaesthesia is used for Lapband surgery. I know I have to discuss this with my doctor when I meet with him but I kinda wanted to find out some more info ahead of time. Does one have an option for an alternative form of anaesthesia other than the inhaled type? Thanks...

Okay, well I today I found out that my Insurance is not going to cover my procedure so I'm probably going to have to self pay (that sucks)! The good news is that because I will be self pay the whole process is gonna speed up quite considerably.... skeeered now! lol:scared2:

Okay so I feel like I've got the ball rolling... no scratch that... that's what I felt like last week when I signed up for the seminar :wink: I feel awesome - like eventually things are starting to happen. I attended Dr. Nick Nicholson's seminar in Plano TX last night and was pleasantly surprised. In view of the fact that I had to come to terms with the fact that yes, I am morbidly obese (ughhh don't like to think about that too much) I should be pretty down today because of that, but actually, I feel great - like there is light at the end of the tunnel! What an awesome speaker Dr. Nick is - he had all my questions answered before I could even ask them. I'm done waiting... lets get on with the show! Waiting for confirmation of benefits from the insurance company...tick tick tick..

Hi deck75.... I researched Dr. Nick and attended his seminar last night. What an awesome person he is. He did an excellent job of covering every aspect of the surgery! I would recommend that anybody who is considering this surgery in the Dallas area should attend his seminar. Thanks for your input!

I've read some posts on here about the threat of Pneumonia after surgery and having to cough a lot to get rid of all the congestion. Where is the congestion coming from - how is it caused by the surgery? Any info welcome. Thanks

I am a little concerned about all the talk of Pneumonia... how is that a side effect of the surgery. I'm worried cos I had pneumonia at the end of last year and its not something I wanna be vulnerable to. Any info welcome. Thanks!

What is an incentive spirometer? Sorry excuse the ignorance. I am very early on in this process so i'm a sponge!

A big Thanks to all who have already responded it has helped a lot... gosh but I didnt think this decision was going to be so difficult! How did you all decide who to go with? I am so anxious to begin this journey and feel like I've hit a brick wall trying to make a decision as to which doc to choose!
