  1. Ive not had anything stuck yet but I've seen some people recommend drinking pineapple juice when they are stuck. I'm guessing just very small sips at a time.
  2. Hey John and Prettyinpink, John are you getting your protein drinks in? I have 3 cups of protein drink a day and eat about as much as you approx. 700 calories/day. I am never hungry. My surgery was 9/10. To date I've lost 33lb (13.5lb was pre-op diet). The protein 'shake' i am using is Unjury and their chicken soup flavor is really pretty good or the unflavored one in Beef broth (s &p to taste) is also okay. Ive been drinking the savory flavors cos I got burned out on nearly 3 weeks of slimfast vanilla, strawb and choc! The savory flavors actually fool me into thinking I'm having a meal. And each cup is packed with 21g of protein. I do believe that that protein 'shot' 3x a day is what keeps me full and full of energy. Hope this helps - hang in there - I am told it will get even better after the fill. My first fill is scheduled for Oct 21st.
  3. Try Unjury.com. They have the usual Vanilla, Strawberry, Chocolate plus Unflavored and Chicken Soup Flavor (which is actually really really good). The chicken soup one is actually my favorite. 8oz water + 1 scoop gets you a whopping 21g protein plus it counts towards your fluids. And you feel like your getting an extra meal in :seeya: Good luck!
  4. Hey everyone... I was banded 9/10/09. I'm currently down 20lb (13.5lb pre-op). Its been a blast so far - I start mushies stage tomorrow :tongue2: Thanks for starting this thread - its great to read all the good news!
  5. Wow, congratulations.... I am one week out and my first fill is only at 6 weeks. I am eating between 550 and 650 calories/day and walking. What kind of exercise have you all being doing to help with the weightloss? I have lost 18lb so far (3lb post-op). Thanks
  6. Im right there with u Ivnrey... I have been burping non stop since I got home from the hospital on 9/10!!! Its the worst feeling - feel like i just ate thanksgiving dinner all day every day for the past 4 days! Guess I'm gonna walk walk walk - It hurts to burp!
  7. I was given a tummy support to wear for the first week which definitely helped with the pain cos it stopped my tummy from jiggling when I walked or moved. Ive had minimal pain or discomfort from my incisions, including the port. Ive been walking and using GasX strips for the gas. Seems to work pretty well.
  8. I was given a tummy support to wear for the first week and I've had minimal pain from any of the incisions cos I'm not jiggling... I'm 4 days post op today.
  9. Thanks for all your responses everyone. Well at least I'm now prepared going forward lol. Since im only 4 days post op it hurts quite a bit to burp so that's why it was getting me down. Also, I think the dietician had me on a rigorous schedule to eat then drink protein shakes and water - gosh I felt like I had just eaten Thanksgiving dinner all weekend long (I was banded last thursday). Yesterday i tried to do stuff at my own pace - only drinking or eating when i didnt feel completely terrible. I still got all my protein shakes, water and meals in I just stretched it out over a longer period of time. I burped less and felt better. I am going to call my doc and dietician today and see what they say. Good luck to you all!
  10. I am 2 days post-op and burping like crazy to get rid of the gas in my stomach.... Please tell me it gets better and the burping eventually goes away....
  11. Hey Joshesgirl, I was only banded yesterday but in the full liquid and mushies stage i'm going to be pureeing/liquidizing all sorts of stuff in a blender. I have a Magic Bullet blender so i think its gonna work out fine. Gonna dump some veggie Soup in there and blend up a storm
  12. I am joining too... Banded yesterday 9/10!!! Whooohoooo  HAD TO GET IN THERE! It sure is a big list. A popular month! 13. Hey Kimo.... Snap - I was banded yesterday too. And so far I've had the equivalent of 1 cup of ice water at the hospital and 46g protein in the form of Nectar (from Vitamin Shoppe) mixed with 16oz water. I bought the Fuzzy Navel flavor and its really not too bad (a nice change from two weeks on vanilla, strawberry and chocolate Slimfast!) I like that each scoop of Nectar is a whopping 23g of protein and only 90 calories! So far minimal pain and discomfort (probably a 3 on a scale of 1-10). I took some pain meds before bed last night to ensure I got a good nights sleep but honestly didnt need it. Ive had minimal gas pains in my shoulders and neck - thats possibly cos all i did after getting home from the hospital is walk around and burp lol TMI. Like you I agree - so far so good and yea having the band doesn't really 'feel' much different (yet). Good luck to you on your journey. Our weights are nearly the same too... I weighed 288lb before starting the 2 week pre-op diet and yesterday weighed in at 275lb before surgery - a nice jumpstart!:frown:
  14. I bought Nectar, Fuzzy Navel flavor and its not too bad. 23g protein per scoop mixed with 8 or 16oz water. At least its not the sickeningly sweet flavor of Slimfast shakes which ive been on for the past 17 days lol
  15. Eeeeek - my surgery day is tomorrow!!!! Very nervous but excited at the same time :-)
  16. Where r u located Eryka?
  17. Hi Jessica, I had issues with being tired and lethargic too and turned out my thyroid was a little outta whack. I am now on Synthroid and i have an abundance of energy. If your thyroid is that far outta whack too it could def be contributing to your being so worn out. You should have the labs done and get some thyroid meds if required. Good luck in your road to looking kick butt awesome!
  18. Getting soooo nervous... surgery set for September 10th!!! Breathe in Breathe out.... lol
  19. Hey Lauri, I am on a 2 week pre-op diet: 5 x slimfast items (shakes or bars) per day plus one regular meal basically consisting of 5oz. lean meat, turkey, chicken, fish and 2 cups of non-starchy veg. I have lost 11.7lb in 12 days! I dont think you will have any problems loosing the pre-op weight if you stick to the diet. The first two days were really tough for me but Im used to it now and it doesnt bother me. I have to lose 14.5lb (5% of my body weight) by my surgery date which is Thursday next week and I don't think I'll have a problem based on the past 12 days. Hope this helps reassure you that the docs know what they're doing when they give you their diet - just follow whatever diet he gives you to the letter (no matter how difficult) and you WILL lose the weight by surgery date! Good luck to you
  20. Hey Nancy, Congrats on getting approved - your perseverance sure paid off!!! You go girl! This week I also got my surgery date set for September 10th so I guess our dates are going to be close! Keep in touch and let me know how yours goes. Take care. Hugzzz
  21. I am so excited - just had my pre-op consultation with my doctor and I'm scheduled for surgery next thursday (September 10th). Had no idea it could happen that quickly. Good luck to anyone else getting banded this month
  22. I am on day 6 of a 2 week pre-op diet and I've lost 7.2lb in 5 days. I think the 20lb is very do-able and possibly more! Good luck with your surgery - hope it goes well for you!
  23. I am so excited - just had to post! I am on day 6 of the 2 week required pre-op diet. I've lost 7.2lb in the first 5 days!!! I hope it continues this way.... it's awesome! I feel better and more energetic already in spite of the 1200 calories a day  The first couple of days were really tough but its pretty much smooth sailing right now. The only thing thats a drag is that I'm craving salt! I'm on protein shakes/bars all day (very sweet) then a low cal meal for dinner. Im not a really big salt fan but I'm craving it now - go figure!
  24. So psyched - I've lost 7.2lb so far after 5 days on the pre-op diet! Whoo hoo
