  1. I have been banded since July 28th. I got my first fill on Sept. 2nd. Well, I still do not have much restriction, but watching closely what I eat. Okay, so today I was eating 1/2 of a chicken breast. I thought I was chewwing good and eating slowly-since I have been practicing this since before the surgery. But what happened was I felt a bad pain and could feel the chicken going through the band into my stomach. I felt like I couldn't even breathe and finally took a couple sips of water, thinking that it might have been dry, but it didn't really help. Has anybody else felt this???
  2. Ok, I have read about getting food stuck, but I guess i thought when it gets stuck, the only way to get it out was to bring it back up. So I probably didn't chew as well as I thought---won't do that again!!! Thanks alot for the help!!
  3. wow everyone sounds like they had a painless fill! Am I the only one that was in pain??? For my first fill on 9/1, the needle didn't really hurt, but after finding the port, he had a hard time inserting the needle into the port. He said that it is hard to insert it at a month out because there wasn't enough time for scar tissue to form and hold the port in place yet. It was pretty painful and I even had a bruise afterward.

    severe bruising...

I was banded the same day as you and I have a lot of bruising too. They are around the incisions, but I have a mystery bruise too! It is on the lower part of my stomach a little bit under my belly button. It is funny, but I wondered the same thing - if something wierd happened during surgery that gave it to me haha! They are already starting to yellow, though. I think it is just how our body responds to the trauma of the laprasopic tools.
  5. I was banded yesterday (7/28) and I am in so much pain. I am trying to control it with the tylenol w/ codeine the doctor gave me, but it only gives me about an hour & a half of relief. I just wanted to know form others how long the pain lasts!! Also, I forgot to ask the doctor if I can chew gum... does anyone know if its ok? Thanks!!
  6. Thank you everyone sooo much for the support and encouragement!! Today the pain was so much more bearable, I have even cut back on the meds:smile2:. I have been walking several times today, just 10 minutes at a time, but I think that is helping with the gas, and making me feel back to normal! I am excited for this new journey and so glad that there are so many people ready to encourage and share their experiences!
