    Those Who Have Lost 100+

I have lost 100 pounds. I was banded in June of 2009. I started at 347 lbs and am at 247 lbs now. My weight loss has been slow, because during the 2 1/2 years, I have had multiple surgeries on my knees and back, and have not been able to exercise. I also did not get fills at times when we decided it was better to concentrate on surgery recovery and getting the nutrition I needed to heal well. My last ( and hopefully final) surgery is at the end of this month. So in March I'm hoping to augment my rehab exercises with more physical activity in general. My doctors are all pleased with my rate of loss, and I am too. My point is that even if the weight doesn't come off quickly, staying as healthy as possible is important, too. One reason I was banded was so I could have successful surgery on my knees, and I have absolutely no regrets about the path I've been on. Good luck to you - you're off to a great start!!
  4. Hi I had my lapband with the same Doctor I am having trouble I feel that I am not loosing weight its going in to 3 month got my first fill and going for my 2 on Nov. Did you had this problem not loosing wieght?

  5. I tried to edit my current weight and change my gender on the Info page. I click on "Save" and nothing happens, and changes are accepted. I was able to change things on the other pages with no problem. I'd really like to change my current weight, and have the correct gender on my profile. Thanks.
  6. 2 years has passed since you registered at LapBandTalk! Happy 2nd Anniversary Kaelesa!

  7. I'm up to 6 cc now. I'm definitely feeling this one more than the last one. I had planned to go to Curves this morning to find out about their program, but wasn't feeling too great, so I'll reschedule that. Is anyone else doing Curves, or any other franchise type exercise plan? Cost will be an issue for me, since I'm not working so money is an issue for us.
  8. I had my 2nd fill today. The doctor shows I've lost 27 lbs since surgery, but I show that I've lost 37 since I started the pre-op diet. Anyway - he says I'm doing good. I could certainly feel the difference tonite when I ate. Much more noticeable than my last fill. Healthwise, I'm feeling really good too. I don't have to take my metformin anymore, since my blood sugars are usually in the 80's when fasting. I haven't started back on the megestrol (hormone) and am hoping menopause has finally set in. It's about time! I'm able to actually go to a store and walk around and walk back to the car without turning bright red in the face and huffing and puffing, which is sooo wonderful. I have a long way to go still, but these "little things" keep me motivated, and having the band is definitely an aid to cutting portion size. How is everyone else doing?? Not a lot of chatting going on here
  9. Hi all. I haven't been here in a while. I went on vacation, an 3600 mile car trip. I was really concerned about meals on the trip, since we were traveling with 2 dogs and couldn't really go into restaurants to eat on the way - so it was fast food for us. I tried to order sandwiches like flat-breads, or to just eat the meat out of them. But, I managed to gain during our 8 days of vacation. I've taken that back off by going back to my post-op habits. I was surprised that I could eat as much as I did without getting sick or anything. I hadn't had my first fill yet though, so I think that is why. My first fill was on August 12, and it went fine. The doctor said he would put 3 or 4 cc in the first time. Then I go back in 6 weeks for another adjustment. He follows that procedure till the adjustment is working it's best - which can take 6 months. He had trouble finding my port, but had numbed the skin so I didn't have any discomfort. I am finding that I'm not hungry all the time, like I was before, which is such a relief! I've been able to eat almost anything - though I haven't tried a salad yet; I'm pretty sure it would give me trouble. My doctor thinks I'm doing well, since I'd lost about 20 pounds since surgery and as he said "we haven't even started the weight loss part yet". Has anyone one else traveled since surgery and how did it go for you?
  10. I was banded June 29. I ended up staying overnight because my blood oxygen level was too low and they put me on oxygen all of Monday and Tuesday morning. They also added an antibiotic to my IV drip as a precaution. I was very nauseous for a few hours post-op. I've been doing okay since I got home - able to eat anything on my limited menu so far. I'm at the puree stage and thought baby-food was a good idea - so wrong! The stuff in the jars these days doesn't taste nearly as good as what I gave my kids as babies, even though the same brand. I saw my primary care doctor today and she was very pleased with how I'm doing. She's been my main cheerleader in this process. I see my surgeon again on July 16. I've been feeling very hungry which is frustrating.
