Good luck! I'm new here, too, and just getting started.
  6. Whoo hoo! And they emailed me all the requirements, which I meet. So, next stop is finding a primary care physician who will refer me. Has anyone had a PCP not want to refer them because they don't agree with WLS? I'm a little paranoid about that . I have a medical group, but I don't yet have a PCP. I guess when I call the group, I should ask the receptionist if they have a PCP who is WLS friendly that they can make the appointment with? I don't know anything about any of the doctors in the group.
  7. Hi everyone! I'm new here! I'm a 33 year old woman (wife and mother of three) currently living in Tijuana, Mexico (although I am an American and my husband works in the US). I've tossed around the idea of WLS for awhile now, but have started to consider it more seriously after dislocating my knee while walking in my driveway earlier this week. That's right, I was just walking and down I went. Thankfully (?), the knee hitting the concrete popped it back into place and I didn't end up in an emergency room somewhere here in Mexico! My joints have always been bad, but this is ridiculous! Anyhow, I know I have a lot to do if I'm going to do this. I signed up for a seminar held my a hospital in San Diego, and I need to call my insurance company (Anthem Blue Cross of Southern California) to verify that they cover it - I know my BMI is high enough (46 or so) and I think I remember that they cover it, but I need to verify. Any tips on talking about it with my PCP? I think I need him or her to refer me - but I don't actually have a PCP, because we just switched from Kaiser to Blue Cross. I have been assigned to a medical group, but i haven't seen any of the doctors yet. Anyhow, I'll be here - reading and learning! Thanks!
