NJMOMof2 got a reaction from ellendeette in Going From Band To Sleeve, How Long Did You Miss Work?
I bounced back very quickly from the band. The sleeve was a different story. I was back to work within a week with the band. The sleeve recovery is much more involved. I took 4 weeks off and honestly could have gone back after 3 weeks but I didn't . I have read people only taking a few days or a week off and I think they are super human... (seriously I am not a wimp) LOL
There is a lot more 'relearning" and plus yout stomach was dissected and now is a different size. BUT---in the long term...there is no fills, no guesswork, no food stuck feeling....WAY WAY WAY (times 1,000) better than the band. Would go throught it all in a second. got to goal in 8 months and have been maintaining 2-3 pounds under goal since. Good Luck

You felt weak because you felt deprived. When I order my family pizza, I order a personal pizza made on a wheat wrap. The pizza place near my house make it especially for me. Its excellent. See if you can find a place near you that will do that. I eat 1/2 of it.

I have been at goal and fluctuate 1-2 pounds. I find the sleeve give me good restriction and I know my limits. I follow the rules of Protein first and try to avoid sweets. I eat no bread or Pasta.< /p>

I just read your post to my husband who said, "you said the exact same thing!"

Here is what you need to know:
    1. All the pain, discomfort, and bloating passes
    2. You will soon adjust to your new way of eating
    3. Every day you will feel better and better!

I had the band and had a full slip. It was terrible. I was very hesitant to get the sleeve because of my nightmare. I can tell you it was the best decision I have ever made. I lost 95 pounds in 8 months and I am thrilled. I am 102 pounds down from my highest pre-lapband weight. Good Luck

YOU CAN DO IT! Don't sabotage yourself! Throw out all the trigger foods and start journaling. That will help put your caloric intake into perspective. Maybe you should do that five day pouch test. It's a good way to clear your system of all the cravings from sweets/carbs. Google it and you will find specific directions. When I get the sweet cravings back, I always do a couple days absolutely no carbs. It's hard but it helps. When u want a sweet, chew some gum. It really helps.
    Good Luck

When my family orders a pizza, I order or make my own but instead of using pizza dough, I use a low carb wheat wrap. The restaurant I order it from sells wrap so they make it for me.
Better to make it yourself. The website www.theworldaccordingtoeggface.com had TONS of pizza recipes. She calls is Pizza Porn!!!

NJMOMof2 got a reaction from sarsar in always going to have to wait???!!!!
I am not sure what you mean by "waiting" to eat but I am just about 6 months out and I eat like a normal person, just way less. I drink up until maybe 5 minutes before I eat. I don't drink with meals and wait 30 minutes after. If I am thirsty after a meal, I chew a piece of gum and it helps to pass the time and moisten my mouth. I can barely eat a half a cup of food, and I am happy about that but if I want to have a dessert, I have a littel bite of my husbands. I have had ice cream on occasion and I am living my life and not eating compulsively anymore.

Don't get in the mindset of what you 'can't" have or "can't" do. Get in a positive mindset. It may take a bit but you will get used to your new stomach and be happy that you don't need to stuff your face with food. I feel more confident at restaurants. I order food that can be reheated and get 2 nights of left overs from one meal ordered out!! Good Luck

I think the best thing to do it to see a nutritionist or your doctor. Some of them have a special scales that can actually calcutate your bone density, body fat and give you a personalize weight goal that is specific to you.

My personal goal is to have NON touching thighs!!

    Congrats on your weight loss!

NJMOMof2 got a reaction from kpbrighton in Any Teachers Out There!??
Hello! I teach 4th grade and I was sleeved January 3rd. I took 4 weeks off. I wanted to be transitioning to solid food when i went back. The first few days were a little tough but then I got into a routine. I bring my Breakfast to work and eat it during homeroom in the morning. I have lunch at 12:45 so I know not to drink after 12:15. I am lucky in the sense that my lunch it 44 minutes. I really had to work to slow myself down because I am used to eating so fast because lunch in short. Until you get yourself in a routine, you can start nibbling on your lunch before you head down there...
I also stay out of the teacher's lounge. We have "fat fridays" where each grade brings in a breakfast dish so I just stay in my classroom. People at work do know I had surgery and for the most part, have been very supportive. There is one lady who is like the food police but I find she is overall an annoying person anyways

I was 245 5' 4" and I'm a teacher. I took off 4 weeks. There is no way I could have gone back before 3 weeks, I couldn't do the morning routine with my children who are 5 and 8. Everyone heals different, though. I give major KUDOS to people who said they took a week off!!!!!
