I got my official approval today from Insurance. I knew I was approved but nothing says "Yay" like seeing it in writing! 28 days and counting!! I am getting so excited. Hubby asked how I am gonna do surgery and school...I got it covered...sis is gonna drive me to school the monday after surgery. I know that seems soon. And anyone who reads this and has been banded is probably thinking "is she kidding?" LOL I have had three c-sections...and two days after back surgery I was shoveling the driveway (which I know doesn't compare...just putting it out there on how well I heal) I will be able to manage this just fine. I bought slimfast already..it is not required before surgery to lose weight, but I want to do this right, so I thought I'd start conditioning myself now...lol. Got my sneakers out and my pedometer all ready to roll...lol :clap2:
  2. lol, that is why i drink rum and diet coke (trick I learned from a really skinny girl)
  3. Yes, I had one!! No more squash-a-grams...yay. Gentle as can be. Now if they could just invent that for the pentulum thingy for paps...yay|!!! (i finally got my doc to warm it---threatened to use it on him...LOL
  4. Spritual people have faith that there is someone or something of a higher being that takes care of them (I don't mean like ET *snicker*) I mean something heavenly (powerful, light). I think as long as you have faith in something, then your okay. (it could even be yourself-covering all basis here) its not healthy to think that there is no brighter future. We all need a positive source without one, we might as well curl up in a ball and call it a day. It shouldn't matter that we don't all believe in the same thing (which is totally impossible anyway) We should be happy that there are forces that make others happy too. There is no wrong belief...to say that we would be saying that one is not a person and has no validity in life.
  5. Amanda so glad you are feeling better...good thing you went to the hosp when you did! I am really big on the anti de-hydration thing. Hope you are 100% real soon!
  6. Yikes how do you get a leaky one? Is it from fills? Manufacturer Defect? Unless it becomes medically necessary for me or I win the lottery, I won't be having a TT...but you know, they are quite good at stitching...so even though they look bad in the beginning, they usually come out nice. I always said if i had to have something done i want Dr 90210 to do it, but I don't think that would ever happen I am not a glamour queen with bleach blonde hair...lol!

I am amazed at all the people who were not told how the band really works...I find this very sad. People eating cold cuts...yikes they are never gonna lose that way. Others who wonder why the band doesn't keep them from being hungry -heartbreaking! Didn't anyone research the band before they had it installed? Others complaining that they don't lose it fast...others claiming the band no longer works...but they lost weight and that was what the band was for-so it did do its job. The doctors need to inform the patients better.

  9. Yikes, I noticed that they were both banded in 2003....I am hoping the newer bands are better.
  10. Ha Ha now your talkin!!! Baccardi's Vanilla Rum is my new favorite...lol!
  11. There actually is a comfy mamogram-I had one-it uses the xray capability while its trying to smash you and as soon as it can read what its looking for the machine stops!! Spoils me calling it a "Smash-0-gram" but oh well. Its a great machine:clap2: .
  12. That is so cool!! It's so important to make people feel needed. You are so awesome to think of that!! Sounds like you got a bunch of new "Aunts" now. I bet your Aunt would be so proud of you!
  13. You are absolutely right!! Tons of work....lol I never said I'd do it though!!! ha ha ha:D
  14. I was so desperate at the time, I had to think of something!! I have told the kids how i potty trained them....they were funny...didn't remember a thing and were like "are you kidding?" ha ha hey a mom's gotta do what a mom's gotta do!!! oh! I have a kissing story while I am in the funny story mode: I came home from work and sat down at the table and my DH says to my son who was 5 at the time, "Tell Mommy what you did today" I thought uh oh! So then the 7 yr old (sister) popped up and said "Keith kissed a girl on the bus!!" Keith got red and said that he didn't.....he bit her on the lip. So I told him that if his lip touched her lip it was a kiss. So then I sat there eating and looking off in the air. And Keith asked me what was wrong...I said "nothing, I am trying to figure out what dress I am going to wear'....they all looked at me puzzled and asked why was I wondering about a dress. I said "well, he kissed her he has to marry her and I need to figure out what to wear". The looks on the kids faces was priceless.....I told Keith I wasn't mad but he better be sure that is who he wants to marry before he goes going lip to lip with girls on the bus. (that was about the time that the kid got suspended for kissing a girl on the bus...remember that? I didn't want Keith to get in trouble, but I didn't want him to think kissing was a bad thing either!) He is now 17 and I am happy to say he is not married yet...lol Now my standards are ---I better not be a grandma while I am still in college!!!!!!!!!!! LOL
  15. It sounds like he really wants custody of her...maybe he has had a change of heart since she was born..maybe he is now ready to be a father. Even thought she doesn't want to go now, I think its important to be with your family. It doesn't sound like you are biological family. Eventually she may ask about hers. Just keep in touch with her to make sure she is okay. Other than that, there isn't much that can be done, he is blood and he has the legal right. I know you are sad, its sad to lose someone you are attached to. I'm sure it will be okay.

  18. I think they should be archived and categorized...like put all the "is it worth it" together on one thread and delete the repeat answers.
  19. I know he didn't lie to you, Biotin is B7---very important Vitamin. B7 is also found in protein rich foods. I just wouldn't waste my money on it because you can get the RDA thru food. (just my personal choice) Vitamins are always good. And when the hair grows back, the B7 will help make it better.
  20. Okay since we are talking potty talk...I'll tell you my borderline dyfs story. My oldest daugher was easy to potty train....except at night (who knew night and day training were different??) Anyway every morning...peed sheets...ugh and I only had one set, because they had inserts for bumpers so she wouldn't fall out of the big girl bed. Okay so one day out of desperation, I ran in her room while she was playing (she was 2 but very smart) and I said "hurry Jennifer you have to leave" she asked why, and I said "I have to potty on your bed" and she was mortified. I then said "well, you potty on your bed and I need to use yours right now". When DH came home I told him and as he walked by her room he asked her if he could potty on her bed....omg I thought she was gonna need therapy...she never had an accident again. Keith was easier...i used cheerios in the toilet, he thought it was fun to sink them. Once he did that, he was totally potty trained, no accidents ever. When it was Rachels turn I just asked her if she wanted me to pee on her bed like Jen and she said no....that was it. So bad, I know, but it worked. LOL
  21. 3Loves, I read a lot...(ugh I mean a lot). Actually my sis is a hairdresser and is 4 yrs out from Gastric Bypass...so I really do know alot about what your body goes thru. (and I am certified in Holistic Health, Sports Nutrition, and gulp....Personal Training) Oh and I research everything....I mean everything....I think its a disease on my part...lol you know like hand-washing....compulsive disorder. (I am working on a Psych degree and oddly I have learned a lot about medicine in that also!)
  22. Yeah, Telly is the poster child for lap band success...I am sure there are others it's just that Telly keeps us up on the visual. I hear there is an Obesity Help magazine...I think we should vote Telly for a centerfold..(she'd is a great inspiration)....LOL What do ya think Telly??
  23. Nioxin is topical right??? No, it won't help taking it now. It washes out. Don't waste it now, I am sure it was exensive. Topical solutions do not easily penetrate into your system. I would wait.
  24. The only issue for me personally on keeping the banding on the QT is feeling I am being deceitful to others. I heard my husband tell his cousin (when I got skinny on Phen-Phen) that i did a low calorie diet...she wanted to see the book and got all excited....and while it was true that I was following a low calorie diet, it was after the fact that I lost the weight (ha ha all 25 lbs of it)with pills. I felt awful that she thought that! I won't be running around like the town crier---but when they ask I will tell them. I told my Aunt the other day....she said hmmm i never heard of that. I told her in such a matter of factly way that she didn't have the chance to give me the "poo-nicky" on the band. If my whole town was against me....I'd flaunt my skinny ass down main street and I just wouldn't care. ha ha (then I'd probably have to move...lol ...but you know what I mean!)
  25. Remember you haven't even had a fill, so of course you are hungry! Its not too late, this is a new week....start again. When you feel like eating junk -I do this--i wait 10 mins to see if I can live with out it, 9 out of 10 times it works!(silly, I know but it can't hurt..lol) Your weightloss is great so far....maybe set small goals to reward yourself. Also when you are on the verge of indulging log in, one of us can talk you out of it! (except if you are at the movies, but you know what I mean) Take care and best wishes!
