  1. Congratulations! You're the success story I want to write for myself one day.
  2. I only had to wait 48 hours before I could shower. Felt great too!!
  3. Today (9 days post op) I feel stronger and more ready to resume regular activities than any other time I have tried . I have been getting lots or rest. I am getting very tired of liquids only though. I'm wondering if that maybe the cause of low enerygy levels. I may ease into mushies a few days before my doctor visit just so I can really get my stamina back.
  4. I was banded on June 10, 2009 and weighed 209 lbs. I now weigh on June 17, 206 lbs.
  5. That is so funny!! I'm gonna have to use that!
  6. I can't feel mine. Just soreness.
  7. Hey I was banded two days before you. I found when I walk while I'm drinking my broth or slimfast it goes down better. Burping is not happening right now. Pray it comes out the other end! Everyday gets a little better. Hold on.
  8. Thanks for posting. Its good to hear from folks who have been there. Right now the pressure and soreness i feel seems like it will never go away. Patients is a new concept for me to learn. )
  9. Gob Bless the UK health care system. I recently wathced the Movie Sicko by Michael Moore. The it talked about health care around the world. It really sounds like the UK is one country who really has it figured out. I wasn't forced to go back to work I just felt like I should. Didn't want to let down the good folks who are covering for me right now. the emotional process is just as important as the physical one.
  10. Well I over did it. I thought I was ready to go back to light duty at work today. Took a shower, got dressed, put on make-up and was ready to tackle my day. I get to work and everyone wants to hug me and ask me how I was doing (I'm loved). Talking to everyone really wiped me out. I was exhausted. I was only there and hour before I felt clammy and dizzy. I decided to go home before I got nausious. I've slept all day since. Note to everyone, take it easy. Give yourself the time you need to mend. There is more to going back to work than work. I'm going to take my time before I go back. I deserve it.
  11. I did too much today! I thought I was ready to go back to work, I wasn't. I was there for about an hour and I was clammy, hot, and starting to feel dizzy. I haven't been nausous in this process so I left work before I did. I came home and knocked myself out with anti-nausia med. and slept til now. Note to self, take you time and don't go back to soon. This was major surgery and you deserve to have the time to heal.
  12. I'm a June 10 bander myself. I agree with all of you. I know its sore. I have found when I drink my broth or slimfast if I walk when I do it it seems to go down better. Plus walking really helps with the gas.
  13. Hi Everyone!! Day 4 of post op. Day two was the worst so far. Very sore. Today I got to have thicker liquids like slimfast and v8 juice. My energy level is better and I'm not nearly as sore. Thanks God I have a wonderful supportive woman who takes amazing care of me. Not sure how anyone could do something like this alone. Moving at all with insision marks on you belly is tough. Having someone who loves you help you to do everything from pulling up your panties to giving you nurishment really affermes your love and committment to each other. I expect tomorrow to go even more smoothly. I am finally thinking about eating something. Firtst three days I only drank something because I had to. Now I want to. That's got to be good news.
  14. Hello everyone! I am 4 days post op. The second day was the worst. Whatever they gave me during the surgery to numb my belly wore off and the soreness really started to sink in. Today was good because I got to start on slimfast and have coffee!! First three days was just water and broth. Which sounds bad but I really didn't want anything heavier. So far the gas has been my worst problem. I take my little gas stripes regularly. I also found out that when I drink anything I stand up and walk around. Seems to go down better. Luckily I have not been nausious once. I've had lost of sleep and loving support. So far its been really good. No suprises.
  15. Thanks Penn. I don't know if you know it or not but you are my new bff :cursing:)
  16. Hello everyone, I'm Julie and I will have my lap-band surgery tomorrow morning. I'm neither excited or scared, just ready. I'm glad to have found this forum. This process is going to be hard and to have like minded people who have been there to talk to is comforting. I have been in a long term relationship for 13 years. We live in Arkansas with our six "babies" (dogs). We have a beautiful home with 15 acres for them to play on.
  17. Thanks for the post Penn. Glad you're doing so well. You give us all hope. Knowing we will be traveling the road you have just blazed. My surgery is tomorrow. I'm not scared or excited. I'm peaceful. This is what it is. All the decisions I have made about food for the last 43 years have gotten me to this point. I feel confident that I am finally making decisions to benifit my life instead of keeping me down. God bless to everyone getting banded tomorrow and in the future. Congrats to you all who have taken the leap!!

  19. Hey Ya'll, I just got back from a massage. I twisted my back tying my shoes!! Good grief. Anyway, she told me that my muscles are probably all freaked out because of my calorie intake. Because of this low calorie liquid pre-op diet it was easy to have muscle strain. I was concerned because I know after surgery they are gonna want me to take deep breaths and doing that now hurts because of the pain in my upper back. I can't imagine doing it after surgery. Anybody else having strange things like this going on?
  20. Penn, I really appreciate your posts. You are alittle over a week ahead of me. My surgery is in 5 days. Reading your posts let me know what to expect. Keep telling us the good, bad, and the ugly. Information is power.
  21. wow, in the very near future this way of living will all be a memory for all of us. No more squeezing into clothes. Pretty soon you will be taking your grandkids shopping for you new clothes!!

I've got BC/BS in Arkansas also. It took me almost 5 weeks for them to approve me. I had a bmi of 39.7, weighed 220lbs, with no co morbidities. Having my surg. on June 10th so I don't know how all rest of the billing will go down.
  23. Thats the spirit!! Three cheers for no more knee pain!!
