BC/BS Insurance

Has anyone had a problem with BC/BS paying the bill? They will not pre approve, but the surgeons office has never had one dissaproved and has me scheduled 6/12. BMI is 38 with mild to moderate sleep apnea. Both of these are part of their requirements.

I have BCBS of AL I was around 38 bmi with high blood pressure and I never got a letter of approval however my doctor got a response to the paperwork they sent saying I met the criteria and they paid everything except my hospital copay so far, I haven't started getting fills yet so I don't know how they will pay.

Good Luck

Just wanted to say everyone's BCBS policies are different. I have BCBS Highmark of Western PA and I found that BCBS is different in every state and even within my own state. If you have a copy of your policy, you should know if you're meeting all their requirements. Your surgeon's office (person who deals with ins.) should be a good source for if you're a good candidate for approval as well. Good luck! -BG

I've got BC/BS in Arkansas also. It took me almost 5 weeks for them to approve me. I had a bmi of 39.7, weighed 220lbs, with no co morbidities. Having my surg. on June 10th so I don't know how all rest of the billing will go down.
